"In a week of major firsts on the Red Planet, NASA has announced that its Perseverance rover successfully turned carbon dioxide into oxygen in a planned test using an onboard instrument. The technology could one day be used by human missions to the Red Planet." https://www.forbes.com/sites/jonathanocallaghan/2021/04/22/nasas-perseverance-rover-has-made-oxygen-on-mars-for-the-first-time-ever/

Although the article covers what we all know overall with FS2020 at the bottom Airplane Heaven is the latest to say P3D/FSX sales are in the tank. This along with Aerosoft's previous report on the subject is interesting. I wonder is this the case with XPlane add-on sales as well? The reason why I ask is although FS2020 is far from perfect it's still the latest generation as far as technology goes. XPlane for years has been a holdout with many advancements in favor of flight dynamics alone (ATC, weather, AI, etc has not been given the attention of the FS serious). I highly doubt Laminar will changed direction and bring XPlane somewhat up to FS2020 standards. DCS by co…

Way back in the early days of FSX or maybe it was the latter days of FS9 the Quest Kodiak became my go-to aircraft. I fly it about 90% of the time. I also hated all the keyboard commands, most of which I didn't need like combat flying stuff and helicopter controls or the myriad of view keys. I didn't need several diferrent sets of key strokes for 'look forward up' or look 'back down'. So remapped the keyboard to what I want and discarded those keystrokes I didn't want. Then I made the following keyboard - Saitek control template. I had to customize the Kodiak panel and the panels of my addon aircraft to conform to the template but that's no big deal.…

Hey, this proves you can be just as nerdy about Lost in Space as you can be about Star Trek. 🤓 Kudos to these guys for determination and pushing past all obstacles, and for reviving some good memories, as I thought as a kid and later that the scene they recreated was excellent, both in the original show and now.

Hello, I am trying to get liveries for my FSLabs A320X purchase. Can anyone please help me out with a link to where I can download them, other than the FSLabs forum? Their forum seems to require that you sign up with your real name, even if you have no intention of making any posts. This is a huge privacy concern, and I am not comfortable with it, especially as I have no intention of making any posts on there at this time, and just want to get liveries for this expensive purchase. Not even PMDG makes you sign up to a forum with your real name, in order to get liveries for your purchases. In fact, this is the first time I have seen this with any flightsim a…

Quick question as to real-world ops -- if you are in a piston aircraft, on the ground at...let's say Denver, Colorado, or Bogota, Colombia...any high altitude airport...many checklists for piston aircraft say to go full rich for takeoff, or do they mean lean for best power? I'm assuming the latter, but wanted to see if there is some reason to go full rich I'm not thinking of here.

As I learn more and more about tubeliners, inspired by MSFS and Flybywire, and spend lots of recent weeks tending buttons, for some reason I suddenly thought of this video and the knowledge and skills this gentleman must have had to acquire over time to tend Musical lights and buttons..... Somehow the two purely-modern skills seem strangely related to me esthetically, as both in a way require attentively monitoring a complex machine, to accomplish human dreams in a way our ancestors could never have imagined....

This morning while eating breakfast and playing Hearts on my computer I got to thinking why do we assign gender terms to things? We refer to ships and aircraft as she. Referring to an old sailboat one might say, 'She was yar.' When we don't know the gender of a cat or a dog we tend to call the dog a he and a cat a she. When I play Hearts in the morning for some unknown reason I talk to the other players. That might sound crazy but it's a game I played thousands of times in the military and it's my favorite computer card game and banter is part of the game. I always think in my mind that the player on my left (West) is He. Th player opposite me (Nor…

I love trains, but some of the recent routes for Train Sim World 2 have seemed awfully samey, and thats kept my wallet in my pocket. This route on the other hand, seems gorgeous. It also seems very short, so boredom might become an issue fairly quickly.
