Mine is Longview Ranch smack dab in the center of Oregon. Since I'm low altitude flyer in my Quest Kodiak this ranch has everything. A paved strip for my land based Kodiak and a floatplane ditch and dock for my Kodiak Amphibian. Outside the barn a guy is mixing paint and taking sips from is soft drink bottle. An animated dog by one the roof posts. On the pad beside the trucks are a crop duster and a Cessna 182 and an animated horse behind the fence. On the other side of the barn are a couple more pickups and a guy polishing a helicopter. By the dock on the float plane ditch are a mama and papa duck and 5 ducklings swimming around and quacking to …

They came to 2.21TB...253,433 files spread across 6689 folders. Lots of years and lots of dollars there. I guess the time has come to dump some of this stuff. But it's kind of like saying goodbye to old friends. Sigh...

  7. Years ago I jokingly said that someday you wouldn't have to go to school. You would just have a professional chip implanted in your brain. If you wanted to be a doctor you got the doctor chip. If you wanted to be an engineer you got the engineer chip. I may not have been too far off the mark. While it isn't imminent it most certainly is being worked on. While the younger generations are probably hailing it I'm glad I won't be around when it's fully implemented for people, and I have no doubt it will be. Dream technology developed with the greater good in mind no doubt also has those with the greater evil in mind thinking about it. I do not now not have I …

What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress - $5,000. Tux rental - $100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or ma…

I give up. I tried several times to post a link to a live camera from a local golf resort showing an Osprey nest with a pair of two-day old chicks. I couldn't get an embedded video link to work but it seems to work fine if typed into another browser window. The website is here: missioninngolfresort.com/osprey .

  10. Hi all, My PC has been giving me grief and I'm going to bite the bullet and reformat and reinstall windows and add a new SSD or M2 drive. I don't want to mess with any licenses, so are there packages that absolutely require uninstall and deactivation besides prepar3d itself and PMDG products? What about MSFS - I've uninstalled it, but I'm not sure what to do with "digital ownership"... Any tips appreciated from anyone with experience here. TIA, CVG

Birds have it all over airplanes when it comes to formation flying. Even the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels could tke a lesson from birds because birds never seem to make mistakes or collide. 1 - Pelicans fly in very close formations. I call this one 'Me and my wingman.' 2 - American Avocets fly in a rather loose formation. 3 - An American Widgeon 4-ship. 4 - Northern Pintails fly a rather loose formation. 5- Sandhill Cranes in the familiar V formation. I snapped this one morning when we were counting Sandhill Cranes. We got to our posts before sunup because the cranes started leaving the refuge to feed in the fields around Roswell. In this in…

  12. I've been watching a lot of old movies since this sequestration thing started and a lot of them take place in England...mostly in London. The monetary system has me baffled. A guy gets out of a cab and the driver says, "That'll be thrupence me lord." Or a guy in a pub tells his buddy, "It only cost me two bob." And that's only the tip of the iceberg. So I looked up the British monetary system and came up with this. 2 farthings = 1 halfpenny 2 halfpence = 1 penny (1d) 3 pence = 1 thruppence (3d) 6 pence = 1 sixpence (a 'tanner') (6d) 12 pence = 1 shilling (a bob) (1s) 2 shillings = 1 florin ( a 'two bob bit') (2s) 2 shillings and 6 pence = 1 half crow…

Betty and I went to the Cattle Baron for dinner this evening. I really missed it during the sequester. But it's been two weeks since our second shot so we are going to start eating out once a week again. The seating is every other booth and table so they are maintaining social distancing. And you can't go to the salad bar by yourself. The waitress gives you a checklist of all the available salad items and you check which ones you want and she gets your salad plate for you. I wanted prime rib but they were out, so I got a filet mignon and baked potato and Betty got blackened catfish and French fries. We shared a plate of crisp asparagus with olive …

I finally had to shut down my business. PPP loan kept us afloat for a bit, but with all of our major clients suspending operations, there is just no prospects right now. The on-site security business is kinda hard when nobody is working on-site! With all this free time, I booted up p3d5 for the first time and discovered that my 5 year old graphics card is not cutting the mustang anymore. So I checked out the boards to see what a new 12 gig card will set me back. Holy chip shortage Batman! What in th wide world of sports is going on here? The exact same model of GTX 970 that I bought in 2016 is now almost $900! That's more than twice what I paid for it. So …

https://www.nbcnews.com/now/video/report-says-mystery-drones-hovered-over-navy-destroyers-off-california-coast-109137477820 Now that's interesting. We have the 2004 incident Comander Favor reported, the 2015 incident, and now ships logs released under the freedom of information act reveal that an even more brazen incident occured in 2015. The unidentified craft were actually hovering over a helicopter landing pad, carrying out the same rapid left right forward backward manoveres. https://www.nbcnews.com/now/video/report-says-mystery-drones-hovered-over-navy-destroyers-off-california-coast-109137477820

As you may or may not know, there are hints of a source of gravity beyond Pluto. It's speculated that it could be planet 9. Trouble is, it would have to be huge and nobody has a clue how such an enormous planet could form so far from the sun. Well, some astronomers are suggesting that it could actually be a primordial black hole left over from the Big Bang! https://phys.org/news/2020-08-planet-primordial-black-hole.html#:~:text=More specifically%2C it introduces the, primordial black holes (PBHs).&text=The reanalysis of the OGLE,of Planet 9 would be.

This week I'm posting pictures of neighborhood birds. These are just a few of the birds we see in our yard, in the park across the street, and at the wildlife refuge. Every day when I was not at the refuge I became a fixture in the park. That guy with a camera and a pair of binoculars hanging from his neck. The Ladder-backed Woodpecker I got in our back yard on one of our pecan trees. 1 - American Robin 2 - Black Phoebe 3 - Blue Grossbeak 4 - Blue Jay 5 - Cassin's Sparrow 6 - Curved-bill Thrasher 7 - Eurasian Collared Dove 8 - Ladder-backed Woodpecker 9 - Loggerhead Shrike 10 - Mourning Dove 11 - American Roadrunn…

A Farm Kid Joins the Marines Dear Ma and Pa, I am well. Hope you are. Tell Brother Walt and Brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the places are filled. I was restless at first because you get to stay in bed till nearly 5am. But I am getting used to it so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot, and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, or fire to lay. Practically nothing. Men got to shave but it is not too bad, there’s warm water. Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal…

A Top Fuel dragster accelerates quicker than any other land vehicle on earth . . quicker than a jet fighter plane . . . quicker than the space shuttle....or snapping your fingers !! Imagine this...........You are driving a new Lingenfelter twin-turbo powered Corvette Z-06. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged and ready to 'launch' down a quarter-mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard, on up through the gears. You blast across the starting line and pass the dragster at an honest 200 MPH. The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that exact moment. The dragster departs and starts after you. You keep your …
