It was active in the early 2000s and I think it was called Flightsim World or something. I remember 2 mods called Mango and Kewlceo but nothing else really. Any other Avsim users remember it?

There's been so much nonsense spoken about the F35, both in the past, based on the development aircraft that didn't even have the final software, to the rubbish regurgitated today. So nice to have a reality check. Recent Red Flag exercise the aircraft achieved a kill ratio of 20 to 1. F35 squadron commander who recently participated in the Northern Lightning exercise said, "its like fighting somebody with their hands tied behind their backs.

It seems like I've been waiting years for Orbx to release Southern Rockies. It's shown on their region maps. Is it going to be left behind in favor of XPlane and MSFS? Noel

I was surfing Youtube like I usually do (better than Jeremy Kyle on TV!) and found an urbex channel. The guys were exploring the old BA Training Centre at Cranebank? (closed a few years ago). Astounding how much junk?? is left behind. At about 11.59 I wonder what all those components in bubble wrap are?

A departure from birds this week. Today it's dragon flies and damsel flies. Most people categorize damsel flies and dragon flies as all dragonflies. But they are different species. Dragon flies have their wings extended horizontally at rest while damsel flies have their wings extended vertically at rest. That's the easiest way to tell them apart. The weekend after labor day the wildlife refuge hosts it's annual dragon fly festival. I used to drive the van around with a dragonfly expert and visitors to places in the refuge where the insects gathered and he would give his speech. That's when I would go around and take these pictures until the host was ready …

This might be one for the techies out there. I can no longer see ANY comments on any youtube video. I get notification if someone likes and/or replies to one of my comments, and can see the comment in the notification section, but not the comment section. If one is signed in to YT on more than one device (in my example, using my gmail id), then does that mean one can only see comments on one device and not another? I do not have restrictive mode engaged (I'm old enough to see swearing and nudity etc.). The only thing which has changed is that I now have a new cellphone. I could access YT and make comments on it with my old cellphone as well as my PC. I can now o…

Hello! I dont want to complain here about anything! I think the DA62 is a great aircraft and thats the reason why I want to know this... It seems Vertxsim has vanished, no updates and unfortunately no new aircraft or something. Anyone knowing anything? It is hard to track as there was no forum for it. Thanks!

I have something exciting coming up. On May 24th I'll be flying to Europe for a month long tour (non-stop from Phoenix to London on a British Airways 747-400). I'll be visiting England, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Belgium. I'll be using Trafalgar tours. It's my my first vacation in four years and my first flight in four years as well and my first trip since I retired from Computer Engineering. I'll be flying Premium economy which has wider seats, more legroom and more amenities. Can't wait until I go, the ten days before the trip will go very fast. John

You may not want to try this at home. Since we have been semi-sequestered due to the virus and the barber shops are closed I purchased an electric hair clipper from Amazon and thought my wife could cut my hair because I began looking like a Hippie. Ever since I got out of the Marine Corps I always wore my hair clipped short except for one time when my daughters were in high school they talked me into letting it grow out. But that's a story for another time. Whenever I went to the barber shop I always told him/her, "All the way around with a number 2 blade." So they clip all the way around with a number 2 blade and then switched to a number one blade to …

Tangential to my original post about a rebuild & GPU pricing/shortages - I kept the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU in the new set up.( Screen resolution 1080. CPU: i7-10700F. 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM) GA aircraft run smoothly now on MSFS 'High' settings, but when I run MSFS DevMode/Options/Display FPS for a 787-10 at KLAX, the FPS is varying around 28 to 35 FPS, has the red vertical spiking lines, & the message , 'Limited by GPU' My query is, what factors in a replacement GPU would get rid of that message, [ie, the FPS would be lifted sufficiently in the above 787 scenario that 'Limited by GPU' would not appear]? For instance, would going to an 8GB GPU be enou…

Just wanted to share some positive feedback about my dealing with product and support from Sim Innovations, developers of Air Manager software for both PC and mobile devices. I came across their products in a YouTube video which showcased their product. I have built up my simpit over the years to once a 4 place, dual control simpit at its biggest and now down to a compact 1 sim fits all designed originally for VR and now back to both 2D and VR simpit. Always the tinkerer, I wanted to see if I could incorporate a 2D panel into my simpit. I was highly impressed with how their mobile app so effortless connected to my iPad. A simple addon exe file searched out my sims and …

No, no, no! I don't mean the frames, I mean the glass replaced with wood. https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/energy-saving-transparent-wood-windows-b1795950.html That's right, scientists have found a way to make wood transparent. In fact its lighter and stronger than glass.

Hey Team, I know this is a long shot considering the voluntary aspect but I was hoping there would be someone who is interested in joining the team with an in development Virtual Airline. As such I'm looking for someone who can create some custom liveries for a range of aircraft. The designs I had in mind were simplistic but the more you can add to them, the better. Again acknowledging the amount of time and effort that goes into these things I appreciate majority of people would want to be financially rewarded however I am calling upon someone who is generous enough to volunteer for this type of request. Thanks all, Harry

Interesting story in today’s British Daily Telegraph. I’ve posted part of the report below. You’ll need a subscription to read it in full. Airline pilots are making mistakes because they have become rusty because of the lack of flying time during the coronavirus pandemic. Dozens of pilots have told NASA’s Aviation Safety Reporting System that they have made errors since getting back into the cockpit. On one occasion a pilot forgot to disengage the parking brake when pulling away from the gate. Another pilot struggled to land a plane in heavy wind, only succeeding in doing so at the third attempt. Other incidents included a first officer forgetting…

I watched a terrible disaster film this evening that I would not have ordinarily watched but for the cast. It was about a swarm of African killer bees attacking and devastating small towns in Texas on the way to Houston. Michael Caine, Katharine Ross, Richard Widmark, Richard Chamberlain, Olivia de Havilland, Ben Johnson, Lee Grant, José Ferrer, Patty Duke, Slim Pickens, Bradford Dillman, Fred MacMurray, and Henry Fonda. Such an all star cast in such a terrible film. It was made in 1978 in the style of 50s disaster-scifi films. Richard Widmark as an overweight Air Force general looked like he should have retired a decade before. Michael Caine as the scient…

What a day outside. I'm in Pennsylvania (Allentown) and about an hour from Philadelphia. They are calling for 18"-24" of snow today. Of course, I'm flying quite a bit today, and because of the pandemic, it's a double "stay-at-home" sentence! This storm is going to hang around for a while...very slow moving. How are all of you in the storm's path doing today? How are you spending your time? Aside from that, check out Sim Elite's Season Manager. The snowstorm made me think of this excellent program. I run it before flying every day. It does a really good job of putting snow where it actually is and combined with Active Sky, the sim gets a great depiction of …
