This morning I give you the Mississippi Kite. Kites are smallish raptors who feed mostly on insects. They migrate from South America to the Southern United States in the spring. They range through the southern tier of states from Florida to New Mexico. We see them arrive in June and they nesy in the trees in the park across the street from where I live. They are very protective of their nests and if you linger too close to a tree where a kite is nesting she will 'buzz' you and have knocked of hats of peole walking in the park. These pictures are my personal encounter with a Mississippi Kite. I found a nest that was easy to photograph and I watched it all su…

Anyone else having issues with their bank over Christmas and new year? A number of times now, my bank, Santander and my daughters bank have been blocking purchases. Santander told me on the phone it was because there's more fraud at this time of year so they're being extra careful. Damned nuisance though when you're building a new PC and need to make purchases. Anyone else had an issue? Primarily UK, but interested in what foreign banks are doing.

Have you ever wondered how different your life might have been if it were not for that "one seminal moment"? That one moment in your life that determined what some may call destiny. It's happened to all of us. The challenge is to recognize it for what it was. Mine occurred way back in 1956. One evening in August I was happily wandering through the carnival area at the local county fair. Not a care in the world. As I walked by the Ferris wheel a girl approached me and asked me if I'd like to ride the wheel with her. She said she'd come to the fair with her girlfriend and after she had purchased two tickets her girlfriend didn't want to go. As she was a good-looking ba…

Just some videos onboard our "my" O Scale setup that my wife tolerates every year LOL! She actually loves the village and under different circumstances we would have everyone over to enjoy it... I need to get better videos before it comes down tomorrow. There are more videos on my YT page 🙂

I have no idea were I originally saw this or who the author might be but I found it in some old files I was about to delete and thought I'd resurrect it for posterity...and, maybe a couple of laughs. I am over 80 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing word not allowed-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 55. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Ol…

Are we talking about this? Do we feel a sense of longing. Refunds being freely given. An admission of sorts that it was released without being ready at all? Does it strike any chords with MSFS 2020. What's the outlook? Better to pull the whole thing and get it right at launch? or dribble out continuous Updates that mend some things and break others? Is it time to stop the policy of making us Beta Testers for software - unless we're paid?

It is now 2021 and so after the events of the year 2020 now behind us, it is time for my 2021 donation, albeit the goal is not there yet. With the pandemic upon us my time spent here, and my flight hours logged, both escalated significantly in 2020. 2021 is certainly starting off in the same direction. This community has been invaluable with MSFS now in our laps and the sharing and growth of our MSFS experience has been greatly enhanced by Avsim. Please position a new goal and 2021 tracking. I would like to help kick it off.

You know, like The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick. If you could have flown any MSFS 2020 aircraft in WWII, in any role in the Pacific theater, which one would you choose and what actual WWII aircraft would it replace? For example you might want to fly a bombing mission in a 747. Of course the Mooney Ovation or Beechcraft Bonanza would make a nice fighter plane. On the other hand the Daher TBM 930 has a higher service ceiling and can escort those bombers...

The Watch It was a great Christmas. Lee and I got everything we asked for, and more. The extended family had gathered on Christmas Eve to open gifts. Aunty Mit and Uncle Bob, our cousin Emile and his wife Elsie, and Grandma. Dad fixed eggnog for everyone, and Mom set out the plates of Christmas Cookies she spent the past week making. Lee and I were shaking the gifts under the tree making last minute guesses. I think the wrist watches we got from Grandma were our favorites that year. They were gold, with gold expansion bands. They were some sort of symbol or rite of passage. We had worn toy watches before. Tin frames with printed ca…

I'm not a dancer myself. Much to my wife's chagrin. I don't like dancing. To my mind dancing is a device invented by women to make men miserable. But these guys have some good moves. Noel

Guys, I had to share this thought, because it turns out to be one of the reasons I started to become fun of some simulation platforms, namely combat, like War Thunder, DCS World and IL-2 Battle of series... and for a time getting away from civil flightsims, with the advent of MFS having changed the course. Problem ( for me ) is I really like to think of a simulation platform as a continuous development platform, without an index, like 9, 10, 11, 12 ( go figure... ) or whatever. For years, since around 1992, I started buying all versions of MS FS, then Air Transport Pilot and Airline Simulator, Flight Unlimited, Sierra Propilot, Fly!, Light Aircraft Simulato…
