I just got my Minnetonka moccasin catalog in the mail this afternoon. I wear moccasins whenever I wear shoes because they are so easy to slip on and off. In the house I just wear a large pair of wool socks. And Minnetonka is the only place I can get shoes to fit me correctly because I have an extra wide foot (EEE) width. There are 30 pages of moccasins and shoes in the catalog. Only 3 pages for men's shoes and the rest of the pages for women's shoes. Department stores are the same way. The men's department in Penny's is stuck way off in a corner somewhere and the rest of the store is devoted to women's clothes. Go to any department store and the women's cl…

NASA is going to need to haul cargo to the Moon; but it hasn`t figured out how to unload it all when it`s ships will land on it. It`s a multi-billion dollar or so issue `cause this problem needs to get solved. If it can`t be solved, we`ll be going back to the Moon, but for short trips. For your troubles, NASA is gonna pay you 25K if you can figure it out to jump start the space economy. ('them ain`t my words... that`s what NASA calls it...) NASA's Lunar Delivery Challenge | HeroX

An English professor and an old Marine gunnery sergeant were the last two contestants left standing at the end of a quiz show. Their scores were tied. The MC said that to break the tie each one would have to write a short poem during the commercial break. The last word of the poem had to be Timbuktu. After the commercial the English professor recited his poem first. Far across the desert sand, Wound the Sultan's caravan. The camels passed two by two, Their destination Timbuktu. The then old gunnery sergeant stood up and recited his. Me and Tim in the desert went, There we found three broads in a tent. Them being three, a…

Has the FSPS store closed? It's been several days and their website only states; "In order to perform website maintenance, our online store will be temporarily offline. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you please try again later." Also their twitter account seems to be suspended. Reminds me of when the Flight Sim Store closed. Thanks

  9. The current state of affairs in our hobby is the opposite of the old joke about the atheist's funeral: "All dressed up and nowhere to go." Ironically, we seem to have two sims where there are plenty of places to go, but our wardrobes are embarrassingly incomplete in either one, i.e. jetliners. Well, here it is Thanksgiving and at 8 p.m. I'm still in my pajamas and robe. No place to go and I gave up on dressing around Labor Day. Wait. My wife did fix dressing. So there's that.

A Happy Thanksgiving holiday to all our American friends and flight sim afficionados! In one of the most difficult years of a lifetime, I can't imagine how much worse it all would have been without the pleasant diversions afforded us through flight simming and the quarantine-proof internet fellowship of the great people in this community of ours. Eat too much, drink too much, and fly too much! But stay safe doing it.

You can't fly all the time and you can take just so much reading a TV watching. So I decided to create and collect startup scenarios at various airports around the world and put them on my desktop. This is the Western Hemisphere. I a currently working on the Eastern Hemisphere and have Great Britain finished. It will reside on another desktop screen. Noel

You can talk about your F-22, And speak of the F-35. But the F-15 is coming back, And that ain't no jive! Yep, Two F-15EXs are being delivered to Eglin Air Force Base for evaluation. Externally the F-15E and F-15EX look identical except the F-15EX has a single place cockpit. No WSO. The external dimensions are the same as is the takeoff weight (81,000 pounds) The F-15EX will have a range of 2992 miles as opposed to the F-15E's 2400 miles. The F-15EX has a service ceiling of 60,000 feet as opposed to the F-15E's 50,000 feet. The F-15EX will have an improved defensive system and fly-by-wire instead of the F-15E's analog/hydrauli…

  15. One of those weird things that tends to catch my interest. My question is, does the identification of size, position and numbers of these normally undocumented trees provide any additional data that can be used in something like Microsoft flight simulator 2020? https://scitechdaily.com/nasa-uses-powerful-supercomputers-and-ai-to-map-earths-trees-discovers-billions-of-trees-in-west-african-drylands/

  18. I ran across this on Daily Kos this afternoon and decided to share it here, as it is sorta-kinda related to flying... Watching her re-creating her graceful movements and comparing it to actual film of her 1967 performance brought tears to this old man's eyes.

‘BERLIN CANDY BOMBER’ BEING CONSIDERED FOR PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM Retired US Air Force Col. Gail Halvorsen became known as the "Berlin Candy Bomber" while serving as a Douglas C–54 Skymaster airlift pilot during Operation Vittles shortly after World War II. The aviator who sweetened the lives of Berlin children is now being considered for a potential Presidential Medal of Freedom. Does anyone have it? If so is it a worthwhile plane to get? Does it work better than Carenado's biz jets? Thanks.

  22. Mini-Rant. I hate buying a bunch of stuff and then getting credit card alerts, "Did you charge $56.99 to WTF404 Computer Services?" Hell if I know. Probably, but not sure. I might have been drinking. So now my card is cancelled and I have to wait for another one. It might have been flight sim related (don't know what else I'd charge) but I wish vendors would give a clue about who they are to my credit card company. Is everything more complicated these days, or is it just my age showing?

Sorry. GOOGLE: No sir, Google bought Gordon’s Pizza last month. CALLER: OK. I would like to order a pizza. GOOGLE: Do you want your usual, sir? CALLER: My usual? You know me?
