Today is my 72nd birthday, so I thought to share some humour with all my friends at AVSIM. ============================================== An old physician, Doctor Gordon Geezer, became very bored in retirement and decided to reopen a medical clinic. He put a sign up outside that said: "Dr. Geezer's clinic. Get your treatment for $500 - if not cured, get back $1,000." Doctor Digger Young, who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer's clinic. Dr Young: "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me?" D…

So lately (as in, the last year) I have seen the word "bespoke" appear on this site and others -- and it appears to have something to do with scenery, or aircraft, but I'm really not sure. I'd like to think I am not that much of an appleknocker that I haven't heard of this word in all of my years, but...stranger things are possible. In all of my reading throughout my life, I have never encountered the word "bespoke" until I started seeing it on AVSIM (and a few other fs-related sites) in 2020. Is the word "bespoke" some new entrant into the English language, or is this some British English as opposed to American English, that I have never been exposed to?

I was really looking forward to a TV series set in the Star Wars universe, but I have to be honest and say that I am rather disappointed with The Mandalorian. There may only be eight episodes in each season, but 75% of it feels like pointless filler to me. I really wish that they would stop messing about, get rid of the excess fat, and concentrate on the main story. I can do without side quests involving monsters and humanoid frogs

Sorry not sure where else to post but for anyone that has enough life experience to actually have been around when we smoked on aircraft as part of normality, when exactly would the No Smoking Sign be turned on/off, and would this be at different times to the Seatbelt sign or would they pretty much be used at the same time? Thanks

https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-55699262 Virgin Orbit launch their satalites from under the wing of a 747 of course and there are plans, well under way, to build a spaceport in Newquay Cornwall. And of course, one advantage Virgin Orbit has is that they can launch satalites from anywhere in the world at low cost.

So just finished my race "sim rig" donwstairs. I keep my FS rig and racing rig completely different so this is dedicated to nothing but racing. I liked the 49 inch ultrawide so much I got one for both my sim rigs though. Immensely immersive! It's a trakracerTR80 80/20 rig with the center console and door panel from my real car, Simucube2 DirectDrive Wheel and Heuskinveld pedals... Any other sim racers in here?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-wales-55739524 Oh come on, claims he didn't know RAF Valley didn't serve civilian pilots. But then claims he's a highly experienced pilot. "A light aircraft pilot who landed at a closed RAF base during lockdown "to see the beach" has been fined. Richard Charles Priestley Wood, 60, of Crescent Place, London, landed without permission at RAF Valley, on Anglesey, on 25 May. When stopped by fire crews he was dressed in shorts and said: "It's OK I had Covid two months ago."

The American Kestral is by far the most colorful of the raptors and also the smallest. They feed mostly on insects. They are abundant in my park where I took these pictures. I think you will agree they are beautiful birds. Noel

I wanted to make people aware of a specialized flight sim add-on that we've been developing over the last couple years. Talking Flight Monitor (TFM) is an open source accessibility add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, or Lockheed Martin Prepar3d. This software is designed to allow a totally blind person to enjoy flight simulation. The software has had some very limited testing with the new Flight Simulator 2020, but bare in mind that there are still serious accessibility issues with Flight Simulator 2020. It is not recommended for use at this time for blind players. TFM is under constant development. We just started a Youtube channel where you can find video…

Does anyone know of an airport with a mandatory instruction sign? an example would be a sign that says something like 15-APCH where the lettering is white and the sign background is red. I am also looking for an airport that has a runway distance remaining marker sign if anyone knows of one that implements that as well. Thanks so much!

This morning my wife went to the market to do some shopping. I heard her car drive into the carport so I went to the door to open it for her. I waited and waited while watching her fuss and squirm and do this and that before she got out of the car and opened the trunk to get the groceries out. Men get into a car, start it, and drive off. Then they park it, shut down the engine, get out, lock the door and walk away. I've noticed most women get into car and squirm around and fuss with this or that before finally starting the engine, then fussing a bit more, and finally driving away. Then they go through the same routine after parking and before getting out of…

When I first moved to Roswell my next door neighbor acted in plays put on by the Roswell Little Theater. They were auditioning for a new play and he talked me into auditioning for a part. I did and I got the part. They play was You Can't Take it With You and I played the part of the son-in-law who made fireworks in the basement if you are familiar with the movie. I auditioned and got a part in the next play called Take a Number Darling. I was the reporter trying to get the goods on a soap opera star. I had to make a couple of phone calls during the play and learned how difficult it is to carry on a two way conversation with yourself. But the most difficult…

I have a doubt about the packs before and during takeoff. Should they be disabled during take off and "ON" after take off once the "THR" has been returned to "CLB"? I have seen videos that he leaves the "APU BLEED" and the "APU" "ON"? I don't think this is the right procedure.
