Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Is there anyway to default back to camera views? Tried setting back to default on keyboard and A10 thrustmaster but there is still a default view (back of bulkhead) that will not go away. Can you delete usercamera file?

Finally getting to the stage where my sim is getting dialled in following all the recent changes. Flew the TBM into LOWI - wow it sure makes a difference with the new imagery across Switzerland

I think this is the best state that MSFS has ever been in since its release. Everyone is happy with the FPS they are getting. And there is no more culling and pop-ins from SU5 if you set the pre-cache terrain slider to ultra (please don't confuse pop-ins with the morphing of mountains - morphing is an ongoing issue). Enjoy this while it lasts peeps. Without a doubt, there will be some turbulent updates in the future. But as always with MSFS, it's like 1 step back with some turbulent updates, and then eventually its 3 steps forward with enough hotfixes, and fixes in the update after. Can someone either point me in the right direction or explain how ground ISA in-sim effects things? Both the plane and the weather, what does a large or small ISA actually do in-sim? Thanks!

I tried to look this up but found conflicting answers. What I want to know is, how does MSFS2020 actually generate clouds, precipitation, and fronts? Does it simply look up METARs and guestimate weather in between? Does it use actual radar and satellite data to inject real-time precip and cloud boundaries? How does the live weather actually work? I am curious if my old computer which is equipped with an i7-3770k, 32GB system RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1080 (8GB) on how well it can run MSFS compared to an xbox series s. Will I be able to run at higher settings than the xbox at 1920x1080?

With the autopilot used in the HDG mode, when I adjust the Heading Bug, the aircraft will turn and follow the Red Heading indicator, as it should. However, when I press and turn the knob directly to the left of the HSI, the aircraft ignores any future input of the heading bug. Why is this ?? And what is the purpose of this "push" knob ??

Hello simmers, I used to have the navigation/ map opened en dragged to my second monitor. I closed it for a change and noticed a fps increase of about 12 fps ! Probably you all know that allready, but I just found out. During taxiing it can be usefull, zoom in and see taxi ways. But from now on I'll close that screen once I'm at the runway..👍

I have what you call a marginal Internet connection so it takes on average 10 minutes for MSFS to load. So to bypass all the prep time and update checks I simply kill my internet connect right after the first load screen (and I'm sure that I'm logged in) this will cause MSFS to put me into offline mode and open to the main screen almost immediately. From there I can go into options and change my data settings back to online after I reconnect my internet. This hack has saved me bucco amounts of time. Cheers bs

Hi everyone I was trying to be adventurous and edited the json file for the Henrik Nielsen's Global AI Ship addon, suggested by another Avsimer in another topic. Now all the json files are showing the notepad format. I think the sim is still working OK. Is there an easy way to revert them to their original form....Google says there is an app window store. Anyone else struggling to click the button on the Speed knob to switch to Mach from IAS? My mouse cursor just disappears when I hover over it and can't click. Same goes for the heading knob - used to set current heading? I use custom presets for views and when I manually move the camera the mouse pointer just disappears altogether. I have to switch back to custom view to get the cursor back. Really weird.... Thanks

Hello, In the last days i observed that flying through a high layer of clouds (FL300 for example) makes my GPU Hot spot temperature rise by 5-10°C peaking around 97°C (RTX3080) on 4k ultra and around 90°C on 1440p ultra. Both capped at 30Hz. Clouds on lower levels don't cause this regardless of how thick the layer is. I am not an expert in terms of hardware and temperatures but me thinks 97°C is quite high and i'd really like to know what causes this behaviour and why its only the higher clouds that cause it. Maybe someone with a background has an explanation? Best regards, Tom

I have read many posts over these past few months, were a few are complaining that you really can't fly realistic IFR in MSFS 2020.... What a load of BS. I just flew two ILS approaches in Sweden, One to ESNO and the second to ESSA, in the DC6. Both times, for 98% of the flight I did not see the ground, and below about 6,000 feet I was in a solid overcast, breaking out both times at around 250 ft AGL. Been flying sim IFR for decades, and these two flights today were the best looking and most realistic flights I have done. No autoland, no autothrottle, you really had to fly the approach. Can't wait to fly again. 😉

I just looked through 40+ pages on this forum and tried using search to no avail. Is the CRJ any good? Does Aerosoft support their products? I can see a place for a regional plane in the hangar but really want close to study level. Thanks.

Apologies if there is already an active thread elsewhere. I have searched and didn't find anything. Could we maybe use this thread to aggregate all the mods that either people have found work after WU6 + DACH without CTD, or any updates released that are explicitly WU6 compatible. The sim seems to work fine without any mods by the way as I removed all mods with AddonLinker. Orbx LOWI works fine - 50-60fps in default TBM, pre-caching slider set to HIGH. I then tried adding the WT CJ4, WTG3000, Nxi, PMS50 GTN750 and Bijan seasons. I experienced CTDs with these enabled. I have not disabled them one by one as yet so no idea which ones caused a CTD.
