Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Lately with live weather set I always seem to get snow when flying out of Milford Sound in New Zealand. Actual live weather as reported elsewhere on the web for Milford Sound at present (including from MetoBlue) is plus 14 deg Celcius! Snow on the Milford Road is not uncommon but not down to sea level even in the middle of winter and certainly not in October with a north easterly wind as is being reported by Windy.com. I try to be positive about MSFS 2020 and it looked very pretty flying out of a snowy Milford Sound - but it's just completely fictitious. Have installed the mod in my Community folder where FBW A320 and Just Flight Piper Arrow reside(and show up in game) but no G36 ... the Garmin NXI shows up in content manager ...any ideas??

I was using drone camera to do some exploring around LOWI airport. I am using ORBX version and have Asobo's version uninstalled. But upon inspecting there are 2 different taxi lights. Once I move the camera closer it looks like this 1st pic, and and I move away, it looks like the 2nd one. The 1st one looks much better by the way. Any idea why it's conflicting?

The Bell 47 update 1.40 is fantastic. Hard to fly for sure but that is good as it should be in this classic heli from the 40's. I use AirManager to get an instrument panel and it works great on my 4 monitor system (description in my signature). The recording was using FSplayground and the instruments and controls jump around in playback but are perfectly smooth in live flying. FS2020 is really maturing well, now with very good rotor craft as well, I highly recommend the Bell 47 if you want a realistic, that is hard to fly, heli. I am a very dedicated (latest version) of P3D, and that was over the last few months, the absolute 'go to' before (if I had time) I ended a session, and had the time to bring another flights sim to bear... Since getting 1GB download (actual on Cable, 945 Mb's, the most current Cable tech will pipe line...) running feed to a i7-985 four core CPU, that is being fed by a GTX 1070 (non Ti), I frankly, haven't touched either P3D or XP11. I’d love to get or make a trim wheel that works with FS2020 as I find trimming quite difficult otherwise. Does anyone know any products or 3d printer projects that work with fs2020?

I’m one of the lucky ones who enjoyed the first year of MSFS with no significant performance issues and no CTDs. After Sim Update 5, I couldn’t launch the simulator and (to cut a long story short) ended up having to do a reinstall of MSFS from the Store. Everything is now working fine, with excellent performance once I’m in the air, BUT I’m getting huge FPS drops (down as far as 6 FPS at times) and dreadful lagging on take-off runs and landing (i.e. when I’m actually on the tarmac). When ever I get back into this sim the scenery always pops for me. IOW realism is very good. Hard to imagine this level of realism but for me it's incredible due to the Bing data. Cheers bs

Hi: Just recently I'm having a problem with ATC in FS2020. When ATC gives an instruction the Pilot automatically answers and changes freq (if required) by it self without allowing me to enter a keyboard response. Anyone have any solutions. It was working as supposed to in the past. Thanks Al

Today I kept the task manager open and noticed that CPU and SSD usage are in the 0-5% range for most of the time. Network usage is also modest (less than 1 MBps for most of the time, zero for more than half of the process). Other games max out the CPU when loading, startup is actually the phase in which having more cores really matters. So I wonder... what does the sim actually do during startup with such a low usage of the hardware, and is there room for optimization? Asobo/MS have always been silent on that and the vast majority of the users seems just to keep for granted that MSFS has to take 2+ minutes to start because it has good graphics 🙂 What …

I recently saw that Asobo Studios plans on bringing a visibility slider later in the game but i want to know if the studio plans on bringing back the User Defined Weather option from the previous sims to make customizable weather to save with a flight plan a reality again because this is the most important feature missing from this game.That's the reason i still play with FS2004 because i can make my own cold or warm fronts,cloud types and layers,temperatures,and winds at the different airport and weather stations.

Since WU3 and now WU4 we now have proper updates to the pg cities of London and Paris. Is OrbX still necessary in order to get nice visuals? I'm not sure which route to go with for the more visually appealing and more immersive experience. How do the default updated pg cities look compared to the OrbX ones?

When I load some aircraft the interior views are not properly loaded, I can see the engines and the landing gear interior but not the aircraft panel. How can I fix that?

The exterior model is top notch, the cockpit for freeware is good too. Switchable external fuel tanks and arrestor hook , ideal for the carrier mods. I was never a fan of the ill-fated Nexgen FlightSim project from a few years back, that many of you will no doubt remember. in fact like many on this forum and others, I was quite critical of Nexgen's approach to creating a sim worthy of the name. In particular I felt that the project seemed to create trouble and disagreement on nearly every forum it appeared on rather than producde anything tangible, except an iffy video demo of questionale origin.. As per the title, the AH Spit is now available. Being a fan of the Spitfire, I'll be doing a review of it of course. 🙂 Costs 33 Euros from Simmarket, which is about 28 quid, so not the cheapest warbird out there for MSFS, but then again, it is a Mark 1A Spitfire, so that automatically makes it cool. Looking to the left and right of my plane and discovering empty gateways is like landing on a runway without lights. A simulator is a good simulator when it does not omit any of the fundamental parts that constitute it. Asobo told us that the MSFS had real air traffic. And it has neither air traffic, nor is it real. Something that makes charts, atc, and skies stale and empty. Hi- I used to be able to fly at KSFO but no longer. Loading screen hangs (where you get suggestions on the crawler at the bottom). Here’s what I’ve done. Removed the Community folder. Removed both Rolling/Manual cache. Full repair through Steam interface. Tried different aircraft. Other airports work fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark
