Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I'm curious what Real-World pilots think of the Air Races, particularly from the standpoint of if it might make better pilots of some of us. I have some RW pilot experience in the C172 and have been simming for many years. I had no plans to use the Air Races but bought the expansion just to support MS/Asobo. I'll probably not use the additional planes for normal sim flights unless they are modded as they seem to be what you'd expect for default aircraft. My first impression is that night lighting of the cities looks much better. Less noticeable sepia mask, more contrast, more vivid lights. Almost as good as X-Plane.

I have been running FS2020 at Ultra rates since this came out last year. I am running an i9-10850, 32GB Ram, with a GTX 1660 Ti. I have only been using FS2020 at 1080 resolution and have had no issues at all. Was great! With the latest update to SU6, and to 1.20.6.0 (if they're not the same thing) the game is completely unplayable now. Once the title screen loads and gets past the Update screen the load times are extremely long now and once I get to the menu screen the FPS is "1". I can't navigate the menus let alone even load a flight. I have no add-on's or third party software. I am not overclocking the pc at all. I am running everything at stock. I have gone in and…

Is it just me? I can no longer drag the map around to select locations, just zoom in and out.

Trying to get my head around all this. Seems like a whole bunch of options, so just want to check if I'm thinking along the right lines. After updating (or is that downdating) FS2020 to SU7 I had normal fps while sitting at the gate. However, when I start to taxi my FBW A320NX Experimental the framerates drop from ~40 fps to below 10 fps. Stuttering galore then of course. I am running on DX11, didn't even dare to try DX12, Being airborne fps varies from 45 fps down to 6 fps, stuttering is massive. Clouds are very grainy. Mouse goes ballistic at times, even though I did reset settings to default. I also cut back level of terrain lod to 100 without any success. I am not so pleased with this SU7 (understatement). Hello everyone, I am needing some advise, and who better to ask than you. Having updated msfs with the latest (su7), I find that my HD (500gb) is pretty much full and I have not got the room to update other parts of the sum, for example, aircraft. Now, I do have a second HD (2tb), but that dedicated to all my other sims I use. I am going to add a third HD, a 2tb, but do I get a SSD or HDD, how easy/difficult is it to fit and how easy/difficult is it to move msfs to it. Many thanks in advance Rich

They didn't do a very important thing, the fog does not block/reduce the amount of ambient light. Its pretty wintery and foggy outside and the sim now reproduce it nice. But its simply too much bright in the sim.

Since SU7 i can't close the ATC window. I can minimize it but not close it. I start with the ATC window OFF but when i open it, no closing any more. Also the ATC log is black although the game setting is set to "ON". If i change the ATC window to a real Windows window, i can close it but then i'm unable to re-open it again or switch to the ingame ATC window. Solution: Had some ATC stuff in the community folder. Instead of moving it out of the way for the SU7 update i copied it to another folder leaving everything in it.🙄

Hi : Since i updated to update 7 several items on my TBM930 won't work right. They are; 1 Mouse wont remove yokes inside cockpit. 2 Mouse won't lock back passenger door when you hit the lock button. Also red warning stripes wont change to green on both front and back doors. 3 Mouse won't toggle the starter and ignition switches to start engine. 4 On auto pilot if you set altitude to FLC you cannot get arrow to set climb speed setting. Also when you hit the VS switch to descend no arrow shows to allows you to set rate of descent. Anyone else have these problems? Any ideas on how to fix them? Thanks Al Skorich

Hey guys. I’ve had the update going for almost 4 hours now and it’s only at 12.34GB/33.4GB. Thats very unusual as it’s never taken this long on large updates before. It’s definitely not my internet as I get 80mb/s. Should I restart the sim and my pc to see if that makes a difference and is this speed normal?

Previously there was an option in the camera section (chase camera) to turn the HUD off when in external view. This option is no longer available in that location. What do I need to do to remove the HUD when in external view?

I was exploring the Roman countryside and the live weather matched the real one (clear skies and 12 °C OAT), when suddenly a thick fog appeared and reduced the visibility to zero. I tried to switch live weather on / off and it was the culprit. Anyone else saw this?

I haven't checked the REX forums yet, but has anyone got Weather Force working in SU7/GOTY? EDIT: Checked the REX Discord channel ... fix is on its way, apparently! 🙂

To day 11/18/2021 was a new mandatory up date for msfs, I completed the new up date with out a problem. But went i got ready to flight using my track ir , the track ir dont recognize msfs. i check all my updates and everything is up to date. can some one help me with these situation.

Weird title but the first time I can change time of the day. Next time I open that little Time/Weather icon everything is frozen. Is anyone else seeing this? To reproduce: Load a flight with live time. Open "cloud" icon to change time of day - set it to whatever....close it and open it again - this is where mine is frozen. edit: Oh I wonder if Unreal Weather mod is causing this....standby

Sorry if I'm repeating something, I don't get here too often anymore. I still use MFS a lot, and didn't even know this big update was due today. But after more than two hours, I'm still only at 85%. Is everyone having the same issue?

Hello Gang! Looks like we have no taxiway lights still. This is an issue that was introduced with the previous update and you would think they would have corrected it here. I have to say that the atmospherics are freaking awesome now, but the taxi lights have to be fixed.
