Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Ugh! I took a look a few minutes ago at some tropical airports I typically travel to during winter weather here in the USA. My winter escapes. Nice C208B in MSFS to lease for the excursion. But looking at the default airports has me in tears. Nothing tropical in character. Did some out of region contractor rebuild them after storm damage? Feel like I was in Wichita, Kansas, or Grand Island, Nebraska. Certainly hope Latin VFR or similar developer gets to work. I have no idea if there are any tropics-area-character library objects in MSFS for those of us who might use Developer mode to improve them. 😪

I'm looking into getting this plane more. For anyone who has experience with this plane and don't mind helping me out. I have been flying tubeliners a majority of the time. But I would like to set up a small flight to get a feel and see how this plane handles approaches. I am so use to ILS landing with capturing the localizer and having the glideslope bring me right down to the runway. But with the TBM, what's the closest I can get to an automated landing like I would on a 777, A320, etc? I'm not sure if the TBM 930 has equipment for ILS landings. Also when importing flight plans, can it follow the altitude for each waypoints? Not sure if Asobo has implemented VNAV yet. E…

Seems like I have messed up one or more files of the default King Air by trying mods ,etc. It's one or two clickspots in the cockpit which have disappeared all of a sudden. Is there a way for the sim to redownload a specific plane instead of having to do a full reinstall? There is no such option in the content manager or am I missing something? Thanks for your help. I've asked this before: how do you set the take off trim on the TBM 930. There is a trim wheel but I don't see any indicators/values for the take off trim.

Strange things happening, almost funny that MSFS always comes up with new challenges on basically the very same computer. I chose delete and reinstall yesterday to install MSFS on my new Samsung SSD. Ok, took some time but basically all fine now except that - the toolbar is gone?! Moving the mouse does not bring anything up. Is there an option to deactivate the toolbar or a key assignment to bring the menue up during flight? - also, the yellow ready to fly button is gone?!? I started holding short of the takeoff runway now several times at KEYW and LOWI Anybody else seen this? Any idea how to fix it. No mods installed at all yet, btw thanks

Does anyone else have an issue with the panel becoming unresponsive? it's happened to me a couple of times now where I'm flying along looking at the scenery and decide to zoom in on a guage to check something and I can no longer zoom in with the mouse wheel, click any buttons, move any knobs, anything. I can interact with the ATC screen and right click and move my view around, I just can't interact with the panel or zoom in or out. The default views are all available. Means I can't change AP settings, altitude, heading, etc. This has been in the C172 G1000.

Is there a way to downgrade MSFS version to 1.9.3.0?

Hey I was wondering if there is still a problem with A320 flying RNAV approaches or is it something I am doing wrong, and if so I appreciate some pointers to fix it. So here's the problem. Once I am on the part of the approach that is the RNAV the AP still follows the path lateral direction but when I press the approach button on the AP the pane never actually start to descent just keeps on its bath and that is that. I am not very familiar with how to use RNAV but from watching few YouTube tutorials it seems pretty simple, once Flt Plan was created using SID/STARS once on approach it is already in FMC and pressing Approach on FMC suppose to make the aircraf…

Creating a manual cache area at High resolution takes up exponentially more disk space than Medium or Low settings (not to mention it's quite a bit more tedious to create). I'm not sure at what point I benefit from a higher versus lower saved scenery area resolution. Assuming I use the highest Terrain LOD setting (200 IIRC)and I'm regularly flying over and area, at what points (Altitude?) does the sim load medium or high resolution scenery? Does screen resolution setting factor into it?

Anybody successfully install into Community the freeware called desnses-saint-hubert_H4fp ? I did and it shows up in Content Manager but NOT in the game (??) Suggestions?

In addition to a visual indication, most autopilot systems provide an audible warning sound when the autopilot is turned off or goes off for some other reason. I am not hearing any such AP Off warning with either the G3000 mod in the TBM 930, or the G1000 mod in the Bonanza G36 Turbo. So I would like to determine if in fact there is no warning sound provided by the sim, or if I have some kind of sound bug in my setup. If you do hear an AP Off warning sound, I'd appreciate knowing what AP and what a/c. Thanks, Al

I am in my steam gauges 172, sitting on the runway with 20 knots of wind from straight ahead. Shouldn't my anemometer be showing 20 knots? It is showing 0 instead... Did I miss some setting about airspeed/groundspeed ? Andrea

I started the so-called installation last night at 0002 hours, watched it download for awhile then went back to bed. I got up this morning to find that zero progress had been made on the download. The blue bar was stuck where it was when went to bed! I used the three-finger salute to kill the process and tried again to get the installation working again. No such luck as it froze at the same spot. In a last attempt, I completely "Uninstalled" MSF then went to the store to begin installing from scratch. Voila! It not only worked, but I actually got to see the files being installed along with a progress bar that worked as expected. The re-installation took 1 hour…

Why the savage cub does not veer to the left during the take off roll due to propwash and p-factor? Anyone tryied to modify flightmodel.cfg?

In XP11 & P3d you can follow your flight on the moving map display. Is there any box to tick in MSFS so you can do the same? Thanks Dave

I just noticed that Gaya Sim's LIRQ has been released at the ORBX store. A little on the pricey side so I'm a bit reluctant to buy now. Maybe in a day or two.

I'm sure some of you already know this, but for the rest of you, here's a suggestion if you are going to report a bug via Zendesk. As has been seen here and over at the MSFS forums, some bugs only affect some people, while others do not see the bug at all. This usually comes down to differences in hardware and/or OS settings. And occasionally due to where MSFS was purchased (MS Store, Steam, Xbox game pass...) For the hardware/OS differences, it would really help the folks at Asobo if they knew what your hardware/OS setup is. I’ve had an unfortunate problem with reinstalling MSFS (of my own making I have to admit). I am running the MSFS version from Microsoft Store. I should have installed the whole thing onto my D drive at first, but when I originally installed in August, I put the packages folders on my C: drive. I am having a problem getting my Saitek X52 Pro to work with MS Flight Simulator 2020: Throttle is Reversed - The throttle control is reversed (Pushing the throttle control forward reduces power) and I have been unable to fix that in controls. When I attempt to reverse the "Z-axis" in the control section of MSFS, it seems to work inside of the control section but as soon as you leave the control section and gi ubti the simulator, it goes back to being working backwards again. As a work-around for now, I have turned the throttle control around backwards but that is annoying. Has anyone gotten this to work successfully with MSFS?

Just did a flight between two points in Norway (ENSD-ENAL). Weather enroute was clouds up to +/- 14000, temps in the lots of ice range...... Weather radar: All three modes worked reasonably proper (I've got rw time in the G1000, similar panel radar display and function in the king air). Autopilot worded well, nav pointers worked properly, visual display of terrain on the panel..... I'm really impressed with how far this has come. One of my main points of dissatisfaction has been the oem aircraft but I must give credit as this one is working well. Dave

Nothing realistic going on here. Just a busy airport randomly full on multiplayer, had to turn live traffic off to enjoy it fully.

Is there a way to disable zooming with the scroll wheel of your mouse? More often than not I find myself zooming in and out while trying to manipulate a knob or button.

Installed this Sim in August couldn't get it to work then I reinstalled this week when it starts downloading updates which is 35gb it gets to about 7gb then keeps trying to download the same file big file 1.66 fs patch any fixes out there starting to get annoyed with this rubbish sim.
