Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Strangest thing, on the first day after the latest patch everything was working fine. Flew a few flights, restarted the sim a couple of times, rebooted the computer a couple of times, sim was running great. Very next day, no changes or updates to my system, MSFS crashes to desktop immediately at the Mt Fuji screen. Baffled, no changes to my system, event viewer had flightsimulator.exe as faulting module. Tried everything I could think of, video driver etc. but CTD every time. I had imaged my system and MSFS drives a few days earlier (thank you Macrium Reflect) so I restored my system to that time, MSFS went through the same update process, and I haven't had a single probl…

Tuned off rolling cache and the stutters are reduce for sure. Anyone else?

My grand son was over and was messing with my keyboard, i have no idea what he did, but my yoke steering axis and throttle axis will not work. All other buttons work on the yoke. I though in the controls panel there was sliders that set the axis, but i don't see them or im looking in the wrong spot....Please help !!!!! also in the sensitivity setting and can see all axis are working, yoke in and out, right and left ,and throttle axis. what could he of shut down.?

I am sure (I hope) that you all may have seen this. But I just wanted to shout out that this is really impressive and well done. Very simple to download and a community folder placement. Good Job to the dev team.

How do you get hard winter in the sim? I set the date in Minneapolis's Flying Cloud airport one month out to December and found no snow on the ground. I then changed it to January and still no snow which never happens in real life. Thanks for any help with this.

For the last couple of updates I have been using rolling cache and haven't noticed any performance impact. The day after the last patch I was flying along in California and got some BIG freezes and stutters that I never got before. It would freeze for like 5-10 seconds, then have several smaller lags and then a big freeze again. Since I never have these performance issues normally, I immidately suspected rolling cache. The problem went away and haven't showed itself again after I turned rolling cache off.

Hi all, This is a bit of a niche question, but I bet if anyone's going to know the answer, it'll be someone on here. Yesterday, I tried out a shared cockpit flight on Vatsim in the A320neo using YourControl. It worked incredibly well, except for the fact that two aircraft spawned after connecting to vPilot, one inside the other, even though one of us was in observer mode. We were able to get round this by one of us turning our "Maximum aircraft to display" setting to 0, but of course this meant seeing no other aircraft of any sort, which was not ideal. I think this started after update 5. Imense flicker of shadows in cockpit. Specialy in the 787 and A320. Anyone other have this issue?

Hi, Searching for a bit of help again 🙂 So I get it for the top of descent calculation but still missing something for the climb rate For example, Simbrief told me that I should be a TOC (39000ft) around 156nm from start, I think simbrief use climb profile with FLC but how can I calculate the climb rate if I want to use VS ? I know it's a dumb question but none of my calculation are right 🙂 Thanks

Not seeing much traffic at airports and when I do a plane will land and then just disappears and it happens a lot, I think I have all the settings correct in traffic etc and also multiplayer settings seem to be all correct, any ideas wud be apprciated. Thanks Regards Paul EGCC

Never had any real issues with the sim, certainly never any problems downloading/installing updates etc, but I never liked to comment along those lines as I always felt that would be asking for trouble <grin>. Has anyone else noticed that the ATC window has become buggy after the latest update, some choices disappear when I hover the mouse pointer over them.

Can someone point me to a good tutorial, or at least a point by point instruction for ILS in MFS? I get it to work 1 time out of 5. Maybe it's something I do wrong, I expect it to work automatically when I select high or low altitude airways while making a flight plan. Do I just need to press APP when close to landing? Also ATC doesn't always bring me to beacon capture altitude, and if I try to descend on my own because I see that I'm already too close to the airport and too high, it yells at me to return to the previous altitude. I have MS2020 installed on my D drive. When i go to that drive and find my FlightSimulator exe file and try to start the exe file I get an error....."Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriare permissions to access item." Now I can open MS2020 from a cmd.exe on my desktop, but not the real exe file.

Anyone figure a method to enter or simulate a hold to an approach? I flew into KLAN, Lansing, Michigan, today with the 172 1K. Coming in from the west and needing the RNAV (GPS) 28 approach. There are no 90° legs to the IAF in the published approach so that would have required a very steep turn. In FSX/P3D with the RXP GPS's it easy to either select to hold outside the IAF, or to manually configure a hold (procedure turn) at that point. I was IFR at the 3,000 ft altitude of the published approach. What works in MSFS until a full SDK allows development of much much better for us by RXP?

Hey, Is anyone here could give me some explanation for the VNAV button on the Cessna longitude ? To my understanding when we hit this button the plane should follow the altitude we put in the flight plan for each waypoint and manage the descent himself Am I right ? If yes is that normal that it does not seem to work ? Thank you in advance 🙂
