PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II

Hello, maybe someone can clarify this for me. I have flown two different aircraft types in my life that are fully VNAV capable, and countless in the FS world. Is it just me, or does the B748 remain endlessly in SPD | xxx | VNAV PTH when initiating a descent? Maybe this is specific to the B748? From what I know, the Boeing VNAV will; - Calculate a ToD point using as much information it has at its disposal ( e.g. descent winds, gross weight, descent speed and crossing restrictions ) - Once that point is reached, VNAV will initiate a sequence that without variation will reduce the thrust to idle. Today, I departed RJAA/16R (P3Dv4.3 default) enroute to WSSS. Climbing through 1600ft I received a "CUTBACK DISARMED" message on the FMC. The remainder of the climb went fine (except the now expected CLB 1 not engaging). This one was new for me so I checked the docs. I could only find in the FCOM 11.60.3 that it was due to a runway change while on the ground. After verifying the correct runway was loaded into the FMC (and that I didn't foolishly launch from the wrong runway), I was somewhat at a loss. I loaded the FMC while at gate 22 (according to P3D) and taxied to 16R via A. I was on the SAKUR4 departure. I received no notification during taxi or takeoff roll. …

Hello everyone! There is a problem that has been bothering me for many days. I bought PMDG748. But every time you enter the model, there will be a crash message in less than two minutes. Hello, Just noticed today when going through the preview threads for the 747-8 that im missing the buildings in the airport map. Its just blank for me, but in the preview threads there are blue symbols for buildings. Anyone else noticed this? /Niklas Eriksson

I have the latest airac installed for PMDG, but the runway database is still outdated in the EFB (ex. RW 14/32 at PANC instead of 15/33). Is there a separate update for this?

Hi @ all I have a weird problem, sometimes the 747 (-400 and -8) banks extremly, rolls and I usually lose control. Sometimes I'm able to stabilize her again and continue flying, sometimes I just crash due to overstress or because I was to low as this only happens on approach. At first I suspected the weather but with ASN weather changes shouldn't be that extrem and it only happens in the 747, with the 777 everything worked fine so far. Anyone else ran into this. Could it be me or is it a FSX bug? Regards Caroline

Hi captains, A few days ago I made an ultra long haul with -8F (Cargolux livery). The flight was LEMD-VHHH (13h and 25m flying). Everything went ok except a couple things that I'd like to share: 1. When pushed TOGA button for takeoff, I've got an EICAS message telling something like "RUNWAY DIS" or so. I can't remember exactly the message beacuse I was busy with takeoff procedure. The message was shown in amber with an amber CAUTION and also had an aural warning. I pushed the master cution button and both the message and aural warning disappeared so I continued with the takeoff roll. Someone have seen this before? How are the fps compared to the 400? Is there an MCE script for it yet?

I can bring in a PFPX COROUTE no problem but I cannot get the winds in like I could in the -400. Don’t I go to FMC COMM then LSK 5L <WIND or LSK 6L <DES FORECAST? But on both screens I see DATA LINK NO COMM. Can anyone give me an idea what I’m doing wrong? I use AS4 for weather as does PFPX. Thanks

Hello I was just wondering why the PMDG 747 won't update, I go in the operations center, hit update, and then it downloads and the black screen appears, and then when I go to the version info it still says there is an update available so the update isn't installing please help

Not sure if this a 747-8 "quirk" or possibly even a bug, but the RCMD ALT calculation in the 748 FMC seems to be a bit weird sometimes. While the 747-400's calculation was always quite close to the OPT ALT value, on the 747-8 it tends to be closer to the MAX ALT One example from my flight yesterday: OMDB to EDDM, with a ZFW of 289'300kg, FOB 76'400kg and TOW 365'000kg. Simbrief calculated an initial CRZ ALT of 340 with a step climb to 360. 747-8 FMC shown something like 350 as OPT ALT, but RCMD ALT shown as 380 while MAX ALT was around 390 during preflight. Winds were loaded from AS. When setting the step size to 2000 it calculated a step climb to 360. Onc…

Hello all, I’ve searched the forum here but cannot seem to find any posts with this issue. This is an intermittent problem that seems to occur after doing a quick turn on the ground. Just after starting all 4 engines GEN 3 and 4 are being kicked offline, and I receive the ELEC GEN OFF 3 and 4 message. Resetting the GEN CONT switch does not reset it. The only thing that gets it working is to disconnect the drive and reconnect, and even then sometimes the issue returns. I have also tried shutting down and restarting the 3 and 4 engines to no avail. There are no active failures shown in the PMDG menu on the FMC when this occurs. I fly the 747-8 in the real worl…

Hi all, suddenly P3D started to giving me an alert 'Cannot get product version data - string not found' when I select PMDG 747. I did not change anything, did not install anything since last run...... When I confirm the alert window all starts normally..... In PMDG operation centre all seems to be OK, saying I have the latest version... Any idea what it could be and how to rid of it ? many thanks ! JM

Have Notification in operations center telling update is available. When I push install the process starting but is over in Seconds. Whwn i open the operations center it it is a New Notification telling update is available. Have tried this several times and it repeats. Have also tried when my virus protection is turned off, Have just downloaded the 747 8 and this update is needed to run it. The update that wont install is 3.00.9019.. Can anyone help me.

Hello folks, in my current 744 setup there are the AUTO ANTI ICE switches. If I am not mistaken, the switches OFF/AUTO/ON are faulty in a sense that anti ice is on in case the switch is set to OFF and vice versa. Do you agree? 3.00.9019 installed.

Hi, ever since the new Cycle came out, I keep getting FMC out-of-date message. Is this an issue with navigraph or has location been changed from their usual. I've had pmdg products for quite some time and this is the first time I've had this message. Any thoughts?

Pretty sure this isn't a fault, but I got this message on departure from ZBAA RWY 01 (essentially replicating CA981). I wasn't on the incorrect runway, and I've been doing some reading, occasionally this error is generated in error (bit of mouthful) in the real aircraft. The feature is a safety feature to ensure line-up happens on the intended runway for departure, but GPS datums are perhaps 'not as good' in some parts of China, and I've read a number of posts from real world pilots that have noticed this and consequently inhibit GPS for departures. Hey, In my PMDG 747-8i, it says the Max Pax for each section is 0 so I can't add any pax. I have gone into the .cfg to see if it was wrong and it was perfect, latest version through the operation manager, everything! It isn't working, please help. Regards, Adam Quinn

Hello All --- others have entered comments about this general issue but I am still struggling. Basically, I cannot turn this failure OFF. It happens with every new flight of the 747-8F I am using. I am trying to get to a starting point of familiarization with the new plane where ALL FAILURES ARE LOCKED OFF UNCONDITIONALLY again as a starting point. Even though when I start a new flight the FMC indicates that no failures are activated, yet this brake/tire problem happens anyway on landing and it happens very easily. (very little braking on landing). FWIW, I am not running FSUIPC presently. Any comment there?? Some help and comments please!! 🤔 Thanks, Bob

I noticed during pre-flight, when I switched to STAT monitor my APU startup, that HYD PR on 1,2,3 were all flickering 0-100. HYRD PR on 4 was constant as 4 was set to AUX, 1,2,3 were set to OFF.
