Hi folks, been using Steve’s fixer for a couple of years and it’s great; my FSX smooth with great frames , shadows and working really well. I decided to reinstall Dave Maltby’s Comet and it is fine except the mainwheels change from black at night to shiny metallic silver during the day. Any ideas if this can be fixed and if so, how? best wishes Nige

Hi, I left a message on the main website for the DX10 fixer but it seems not to have got through, so I figured I'd try here. I bought the DX10 Fixer and Cloud Shadow utilities for FSX but need to download the installers again. Can you help?

I just got DX10 scenery fixer last night and haven't experienced any problems so tonight I decided to go in VATSIM and do some VFR for a bit. I'm now in FSX sitting in the stand and decided to go to my desktop and open vPilot and ASN. I go back to FSX and I get greeted with a black screen. I noticed vPilot doesn't notice FSX is rolling so it doesn't connect. This only happens when I switch to DX10. Any help? -Anton

Hi Folks, Admittingly, I am overwhelmed with all the reading involved, from so many different sources, and from so many different setups. Combining this with having different applications needing unique settings, and CFG files needing specific tweaks, to be set up someone that is foreign to the terms is a very discomforting feeling for someone who just simply wants to enjoy flying in a beautifully represented environment. I have FSX with Acceleration, with Steve's DX10 Fixer v3.3 and I am looking for help, yeah ... some hand holding maybe ... to get me back into the virtual air after a long absence during a reinstallation. I embarked on my own, but soon found my…

I purchased from Steve's web site through Fastspring but did not set up an account at the time. I have a copy of my recite with license no. I have Fixer 3.1 I can't remember where I got it. I have an account with Flight Sim Store but there is no record of DX10 purchase. That leaves Fastspring. I can't figure out how to navigate the Fastspring site to DX10 update to 3.3 Any ideas? Thanks,

Hi Steve and all, I've got this on the exhaust of the FSXBA Hornet (Latest release V.17.30) but had it on V.16 onwards. I've converted effects post install within DX10 Fixer. Thanks in advance.

Hello: I installed Steves DirectX 10 Fixer. I have a Radeon card. I guess you have to run FSX (I think) through RadeonPro through a profile in order to use the DirectX 10 Fixer. I set up the profile in RP. I installed Steve's DirectS 10 Fixer. But I can't start FSX through Radeon Pro I get this stupid error that says "Can't start appliications Verify if you have sufficient permissions to access the file (the requested operation requires elevation) What am I doing wrong? I granted myself every bleeping permission under security, so that's not the problem. Yeah, I can start FSX by clicking on the application outside of Radeon Pro. But I don't see any evidence that I a…

Hi Paul Let me awake this old thread once more. You described how you enabled the VC shadows on A2As J3 Cub by using the DX10 Fixer toolbox. My problem is that I always have the VC shadows in the Cub except on the panel. Even the panel instruments show perfect shadows (using the DX10 Fixer). My installation is FSX-SE on Windows 10. When I found this thread I hoped to have the final solution and used the DX10 fixer toolbox as suggested. Unfortunately, it didn't change anything and I still have no shadows on the panel. I saw a Youtube video showing the A2A Cub running with P3D and the shadows there look great, including those on the panel.... Do you real…

I recently upgraded my graphics card and shimmering started on both the scenery buildings and taxiways. I believe I’m missing something that could be major or hopefully minor. Before installing my GPU I did clear all my NIVIDIA profiles and updates. Followed by downloading the newest update for the GTX 1080 then installing the new card. I erased my CFG file allowed it to rebuild itself than added the recommended profiles for DX-10 and NIVIDA inspector. I’m optimistic that I missed something that others might catch and help me with. Before upgrading from my GTX 760 sc, FSX-SE was flawless for years with the help of Steve’s DX-10. FSX-SE is usable and wi…

Greetings all. I had been flying the Aerosoft Airbus series without any problems for quite some time in FSX-SE, Windows 10 Pro. However, suddenly, last weekend those cockpits started looking pretty weird. I have an early version of the Fixer installer (1.08a). Is it possible a setting somewhere got messed up when I wasn't looking? I've uninstalled/reinstalled the Aerosoft product and validated my FSX-SE files in Steam. Nothing has worked thus far. As near as I can tell, the Aerosoft Airbuses are the only aircraft affected. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Regards, Scott

A question for Steve and the thread title basically says it all. I do really like the cloud shadow add-on for DX10, but having to have the water settings at 2.x mid does come with a bit of a performance hit for both of my systems*, especially since I've only ever had water at 2.x Low before. In high demand situations, e.g. around busy airspace and complex scenery (default JFK, looking downtown), the second shader pass invoked with 2.x Mid and (probably) all the associated anti-aliasing (4x in FSX plus 2 x SGSSAA in Inspector for the desktop PC) comes with a 3 to 4 FPS penalty (compared to water at 2.x Low) . While this may not sound like much, every frame…

Hi Steve, Got a weird one for you here. I'm getting this odd reflection of the glass of the VC - it looks like it could be HUD related. It's not there in DX9. A few months ago we ticked/ un-ticked some stuff from this post. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/498055-missing-vc-glass-textures/#comment-3510981 I wonder if it's related? Best wishes, Jim

Hi there, some overhead panel switches from the FSX A321 default VC are partially lighting weird at day and sunlight. Any chance to get this corrected with the fixer? Which fixer settings to be changed? The legacy slider to the right (aircraft) does not help. I´m using the fixer 3.3.

Hello, I mostly use the PMDG aircraft and have posted on their forum too but it seems my problem is to do with using the DX10 fixer. I am running FSX:SE and i've followed the instructions precisely. When i'm viewing a wing view i always have jagged edges on the outline of the control surfaces. If i use DX9 it goes away with my AA settings etc.. I have set the AA with the fixer to the highest possible to see if it corrects the problem but it doesn't. It seems the DX10 fixer isn't properly applying the AA in the sim maybe? It could be something i'm missing. I'm really not too sure so i wanted to ask here to see if anyone knows. The frustrating thing is using …

Hi all I have been having a play round with my settings, It seems my sim runs so much better using the DX10 fixer, I have a question though. The font / text on the 2D pop-out of my PMDG aircraft seems slightly distorted. Does not seem to be as smooth as it did before. Also, the green bar at the top that scrolls messages within FSX has the same issue. I'm running FSX:SE. I just thought i would ask if there is anyway to have the text in the sim stay how it was with my previous nvidia inspector settings or is that just how its going to be using DX10. Thank you.

I opened the FSX Fixer for the first time and tried to type the FSX SE path in at the top and the keyboard is not working there. I can type here and everywhere else but there.

I have made a new version of Cloud Shadows available for download - version 1.3. To Update simply use the URL that you were sent when you purchased to get the new version. Note that this version is delivered as a zip containing the installer, manual and installation notes. It addresses the two outstanding issues: Shadows on water will move if you change altitude at dusk. Hard edged shadowline on hillsides It also adds a new features METAR Option - when shadows cannot be shown (e.g below 1000ft) then the cloud coverage is used for lighting to avoid for example a transition when landing from overcast to full sunlight. (This is optional and disabled by default) …

Hello, I am using ver 3.3 with a triple monitor setup. When i create a 2d popup item, such as pop up FMC, then undock the window to slide to another monitor, I experience a drastic FPS drop to anywhere from 1-5 fps then mouse icon turns to donut and FSX SE becomes unstable and flyable. I read somewhere DX 10 fixer does not support multi monitors. Is this what is meant? Thanks Steve

Well this is not a complaint about Steves DX10 but a lesson learned about low end systems and FSX. After much consideration I obtained the DX10 Fixer and installed it on my system. Here is the outcome, it did everything it claimed, so 10/10 for that. The changes were great, particular the shadows which the Fixer even had showing in older Legacy aircraft quite well and I really love the cloud shadows on the ground and water. Overall it was wonderful and I was very satisfied BUT and here is the BUT, it killed my sim performance to the point of being almost unusable with DX10 selected. My FPS dropped from locked 30 to 6 and sometime even 2. There was no tearing or graphi…
