Hi Steve, Here's a screenshot - I believe the effect is subtle but can be seen underneath the Cessna, near the end of Manchester's runway using VFR Real scenery and the free EGCC version from UK2000. I have not tuned the addon yet. It certainly doesn't appear to harm my FSX (thank you!). I do have the METAR option ticked as I usually fly around with FSOpen Clouds enabled which injects current METARS into stock FSX (it doesn't alter any cloud shaders). However, seeing as Manchester is currently overcast I decided to use the default building storms option to get some strong clouds. Not quite the result I expected Any tips please, just so I can see a bet…

After the CS installation, I opened the fixer and got the "new effects" message. I hit ok and that's it. But unfortunately there are no cloud shadows at all and no, i'm not using reshade. Any tips please? thanks.

I thought I would try Reshade v3.01. However after installation, I was not happy with the effects and decided to uninstall by removing the dxgi.dll files from the FSX directory. However, although Reshade no longer loads I found that AI aircraft were no longer appearing other than their navigation lights. I am wondering if this might be to do with the shaders being modified by Reshade previously and now causing this issue. Can someone advise how I should reset the shaders with the DX10 Fixer to see if this will resolve these problems? Thanks, Stuart

Hi Steve, A word of thanks and congratulations for yet another great product adding new life to FSX. This is a very neat add-on that - like your DX10 fixer - worked right "out of the box", thank you, this is for me the only FSX visible dimension that was missing compared to P3D really, although I understand it is a bit more limited in that the shadows won't follow the sun, but nevertheless this is a great improvement! Incidentally, I was lucky to read another thread on AVSIM this morning, this is how I learnt about it, so I thought that this new thread would trigger some interest from other simmers. Thanks for your continued efforts to improve our simulation e…

I haven't purchased this program because I don't believe it will work easily for me. I almost never start my FSX with the default fsx.cfg file. I have half a dozen or so different *.cfg files I use, depending on what type of aircraft I plan to fly (single engine, twin prop, helicopter, jet,...). Each has a different control.ini file and other settings suitable for that type of flying. I start FSX with a custom desktop icon and an FSX command line switch (-cfg:). Can DX10 fixer be set to alter files other than the standard FSX.cfg? If not I assume I would have to manually switch my custom cfg files back and forth to fsx.cfg every time I made a change to or from D…

Have been trying to find a good solution for the problem where IVAO MTL aircraft are not displayed correctly during night and today I did some more testing and what I found out was that in fact all of the aircraft is displayed correctly except for the parts lit up by the logo light and the landing lights. Below is a screenshot showing this where I highlighted the problem areas and also an example of the other parts of the aircraft that are displayed just fine even during night. This is with the DX10SF Legacy Shader slider one notch to the left and I need to leave it that way because otherwise I will run into problem at LGTS where the end of the runway all of a sudden …

Hi guys, Since the upgrade to DX10 I can see clouds in the distance kind of drawing themselves as I get closer. Difficult to describe in words. So in the distance I can see half a cloud and it will draw itself piece by piece kind of like a jigsaw. I used to use Rex as the weather engine but have recently purchased Active Sky Next and the same problem occurs so it can't be weather engine related. I've tried adjusting cloud options in ASN, through the Weather tab in FSX itself and also in the DX10 configuration. Admittedly I'm not sure what I should be changing to prevent this issue or whether its a known issue with DX10 or not? In FSX I have Maximum detailed …

There is a new release 1.6 The following enhancements/fixes Fix for Top Down View which showed odd looking shadows Metar shading is more responsible for first 30 seconds of a flight to better handle delayed injection by weather engines Metar Shading now applies to water and autogen Shadows are hidden when paused and aircraft casts shadow on self is not set Note that Aircraft Casts Shadow on Self is no longer essential for cloud shadows. Also adds a slider to set the cloud coverage at which the metar feature is first used. Note that the version available prior to 23:20 GMT failed to update v1.5 This was because there is a limit on the number of deltas t…

Today i wanna say that these both - "DX10 Fixer and the Cloud Shadows" are in my Opinion the best Addons that exists for FSX. I´m so happy with that. No Failures, no Performance disadvantage, no Performance loss in Clouds. All Scenery is displayed in excellent Quality. A really great visual impression - i am totally exited!! Unbeatable the Shadow Effects underneath the Clouds..Wow!! I am enthusiastic you notice! Steve- you are one of the Heroes of the FSX History! Regards Walter Specs: i7 6700k, Nvidia GTX1070 and 1920x1080 LG Monitor.

Hello Steve, I was told by another costumer on another forum that I should bring my problem to you as there was a good chance you could help me. Long story short I didnt even know your program existed until I purchased the FSlabs A320, first time I ran it it sent me a message saying the software worked better with your fixer because direct X used more efficiently the memory in my graphics card. Since I usually dont hessitate on spending some money to improve my setup I purchased it, but ever since installing it for the first time I have had serious problems with my fps. I have a system that usually ran FSX at 30 - 35 fps depending on the airport and the aircraft, …

Greetings, Just wondering if anyone knows if the two work together? Posted the question on the T2G forum but the moderator answered and has yet to post for the public(not sure why they moderate every post??). They said they don't test DX10 when developing but have heard some have had no issues. Still skeptical(still not posted my question to the public yet they answered me directly) and I'm not going to waste money on it if there are problems. So I'll post it here.

I just used the Diagnostics button in DX10 Controller 3.2 with Cloud Shadows 1.5 enabled and received: The strange thing is that cloud shadows still work fine. Is the diagnostic wrong, am I just lucky that it works for some other reason?

Hi! I just installed Cloud Shadows 1.5 and like it very much, thank you! There is only one small issue I noticed: When switching to top-down view, the cloud shadows visible in the previous view are still drawn. Here is the cockpit view (over water, so shadows are more easily visible, but the issue is identical on land): After switching to top-down view: I'm using FSX boxed + Acceleration, DX10 Fixer 3.2, Cloud Shadows 1.5, AS16+ASCA SP1. Is this a known issue? Can you reproduce it? Workaround for me is to "look" up before switching to top-down view, so no ground shadows are visible. Regards, Thomas

Hi Steve! Currently my old Core2Duo E8500 system with a new GTX1050Ti GPU is obviously more limited by CPU power than GPU. Can you say how much CPU resources your Cloud Shadow add-on needs? Or in other words: How much of this is done in the GPU?

Ok - this is now the third release in January! In my defence none of the releases broke anything that was previously working – so they are continual improvements (honest). This fixes the following assorted issues reported over the last week or so. • CTD on exit – impacted a handful of customers (3 in fact) • CTD on launch of flight with Volume Shadows turned on in FSX and Disable Volume Shadows set in Fixer (1 customer) • METARs feature not applied to autogen (or water) Just download the zip file and run the installer. There are some installation notes in the zip file as well.

1. Running DX9 normally without fixer = no problem, FSX:SE runs fine. 2. Running DX10 with Libraries = FSX starts, but after pressing Fly Now, black screen and then crash to desktop. 3. Running DX10 withOUT Libraries = same result as #2. I have Windows 10. I'm running 2 monitors and I had the multiple monitors option checked/set in Nvidia Inspector. I've read instructions and watched videos and scanned this forum. I will continue to do so and I will try again. But in meantime, i wanted to start this post in case there's something I'm missing or doing wrong or if there's something I can send. Thanks for your support. Nick Order Number: STE160414…

Hi Steve, I'm flying the new A320X by FSL. All looks really good in DX10 with your Fixer. However, I have cockpit shadows falling over surfaces - panels/ bulkheads/ seats, etc except for small 3d knobs, gear lever, switches, etc. Anything I can do in the Fixer to rectify this. Many thanks, jim I should add that my other A/C display these - PMDG, Alabeo, etc

Some background. I love flying. I hate tweaking. A long time back, I bought the fixer but never installed or made any changes to give DX10 a serious try as the sim performed very well considering my aging computer and well... I love flying. I hate tweaking.. Then for a number of reasons I basically stopped simming for the better part of the last two years. Fast forward to a cold day last weekend when I found myself holed up in the house hiding from sub-zero (F) temps and I decided it was time to get the sim back in shape so I could start flying again. One promise I made to myself was that before I resumed flying, I would bite the bullet and get some long-needed …
