Hey there, so after a long hiatus I pulled my FSX from the attic and decided to get back into it.

Obviously the fact that the fixer is no longer available at all has hit me quite hard. Rumor apparently has it that there's a freeware version of it still floating around somewhere that contains at least some of the features? I've sadly come up entirely empty handed so far, it seems like this piece of engineering has been completely lost to history...

Does anyone know of literally any way to still get my hands on any version of the fixer in 2025? Or alternatively, if there are available tools that do similar things? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

	Hi,

Problem: no rain or snow at all

I use FSX Gold on a networked system. Using AS16+ASCA on the client with bad weather incl. precipitation indicated in AS16, there is never anything like that to see in the sim. But...

Without AS16+ASCA, using the default weather options in FSX, I can see snow or rain. I don´t understand that. I opened ports for AS16 in the firewall, renewed the shaders, went back to DX9, uninstalled the DX10 libaries in the Fixer over and over again, no luck.

Hope somebody has an idea, because I think this problem should have many users.

	Thank you for support

Hello, I've been using DX10 Fixer and always wanted to buy the cloud shadows add-on as well, does adding the cloud shadows use VAS? And if so, is it a significant amount?

I ask because with all scenery and sometimes VAS hungry planes I use, I am often already pretty close to the maximum VAS limit.

Dear Sirs, hello to the community,

'cause there are no faq - I describe my problem very briefly:

Using the FSX SP 2 with some Landscape-AddOns, Airports and - pretty new - the highliy detailed Aerosoft Airbus A 320 - I bought the DX 10 Controller by Steve.

Nice tool with shadows and so on - until the FSX with the problem listed above. I read, that DX 10 Controller would solve this problem - but unfortunately it does'nt.

The same problem exists on the "ancient" fs 09 - but there is a tool named "4 GB-Patch" - it is working.

Thanks for - helpful - tips.

Hello. My name's Leandro Barreto and I need a fix for Cloud Shadows. Being a modder and programmer myself, this should be easy, I think. Everything so far is working great, except for one thing. I took a dozen of screenshots that clearly explain the problem and my thoughts about a fix. How should I upload them here? Anyway, let me explain first.

I purchased both DX10 Fixer and Cloud Shadows this week to use in a clean installation of FSX Steam Edition in a Windows 11 machine. I'm not using the new FSX beta version. But I got a couple of DLCs from Steam as well, so I can't tell if my installation is pure vanilla. Most of them are only missions and aircrafts. I think the only DLCs that change something "deeper" are the HD Airport Graphics, FTX Trees HD (both of which seem to just replace textures) and Accu-Feel (which probably wasn't even installed when I first noticed the problem since DLCs for FSX:SE in general are usually broken on installation). Only then I fixed Accu-Feel and purchased some more DLCs hoping to fix the bug, like REX Soft Clouds and Ultimate Water FX. I made them all work fine and with no conflict to DX10 Fixer, apparently, but the bug persists.

The problem happens only when I enable the scenary setting for Water FX 2.0 Max and Cloud Shadows at same time. Then some buildings cast shadows that keep floating over my screen - but only where there is ground or water. And those "shadows" change position whenever I move the camera on its Y (vertical) axis (both VC or external). Moving a bit my camera, I can overlap each shadow beneath its respective building. Strangely enough, the shadows were not even aligned to the sun, nor to the right or to the left - but always below or above its counterpart building.

At first I thought this was some weird bug on Ground Shadows that people talk about. I've read the entire manual before installation. But disabling Ground Shadows or Volume Shadows won't fix it. Tried some shadow settings on DX10 Fixer too, with no success. Disabling all options under Cloud Shadows (except METAR shading) didn't fix it either. The only fix so far is disabling Cloud Shadows or setting Water FX 2.0 slider below Max (i.e: high). The latter is a setting to cast reflections of buildings over water surface - hence the strange alignment they were presenting, always facing my camera. But it works wonderful if Cloud Shadows are disabled, so it's not a bug in FSX. And I don't wanna disable this setting because that's the only thing making my DX10 water really feel alive at the moment.

Then I thought those shadows were being created by Cloud Shadows to darken buildings beneath clouds. But there were no clouds over those buldings either. So now I have a better theory based on my own experience with hacking/injecting code. I think when Cloud Shadows is injecting itself into the Water FX (like the manual says), it is accidentally preventing the normal FX behaviour of discarding reflections for buildings that are far away from water. So I suppose "all" you gotta do for a fix is to wire up this behaviour again after Cloud Shadows finishes its job. My screenshots will show this clearly, when I figure out where to upload them.

Just purchased both products, great overall.

Using the latest Ready for Pushback plane it has nice shadows and outside textures now but is missing the floor (and some wall) textures in both the cockpit and pax areas. ie I can see the tarmac surface and airport vehicles from different interior cameras.

Floor textures showed up properly without DX10 Fixer. The Fixer added shadows and outside plane texture but I lost interior floor texture.

Yes, I have most settings On as that is why I bought this Fixer for more and better graphics. Turning Off the various FSX menu shadow options did not resolve the issue.

i guess this is the best way to contact StevesDX10 Fixer, and as such, I'm also going to give a few extra comments.

First, for Steve: Flight Sim Customer, purchase date 20Sep2013. email: redacted $33.91 USD, I need an upgrade link from build 3.2.3

I was one of the "lucky" customers who bought your product through The Flight Sim Store (purchase date: 20Sep2013) It must have been a birthday present for myself. Anyhow, I remember spending a lot of time reading, tweaking and learning about a subject I knew nothing. (Still don't) But I eventually got it right, and oh Lord, what a difference. I continued to enjoy FSX for a few years, but eventually, personal medical circumstances kept me away, and I removed everything FSX from my computer. Fortunately, when I began my FSX journey I kept a database with every single purchase I ever made for FSX. and kept the original files in a separate data drive. A word to the wise, youngsters.

Fast forward a few (6) years and I have decided to get back into Flight Sim. Unfortunately, I don't have the available disposable income, as before. I am officially retired. One of the very first personal decisions I made is that I will not spend one single dime on getting my beloved FSX back to its former glory. Having made 338 former purchases for FSX, I am willing to make this one exception.

My current version of "The Fixer" is 3.2.3. Another objective in getting my FSX back to snuff is re-downloading the latest version of the original software. After perusing your blog (a great source of technical information, BTW) I realized that to get the latest version I would have to contact you for an upgrade license. I couldn't figure out a way to contact you through the blog. (I concede I'm old and can't see well, and can't ... blah, blah, blah). But AVSIM has always been my "home" forum and luckily, here you are!! Apparently, your current build is 5.4, but in order to update that, you must have build 3.4. And you can't upgrade if you purchased through the aforementioned Flight Sim Store. (Don't feel bad folks, I bought a LOT of stuff through The Flight Sim Store, and each re-load will be a challenge.) Someday, when I have a little spare time (hahaha) I am going to learn what happened with The Flight Sim Store.

Since your amazing program was probably the single most impressive purchase for my FSX (with the possible tying exceptions of ORBX Global and PMDG), I am willing to do whatever it takes to have the latest version of the "Fixer". I'm willing to buy "Clouds" but only if there's a way forward to upgrade the "Fixer". Let me know what you can do for me, as I'm stuck.

	Additional "Old Man" Rants:

First, what the heck happened to the visuals on Windows 10? There's no contrast to the words I'm typing. Causes severe eye strain and headaches. But the spelling and grammar correction utility is cool. (I've been using commas wrong for 50 years!) I know there's a "fix", but that interferes with the ability to see other things, like the PMDG Ops Center 2.0. Does Microsoft create problems purposely to wield their immense power?

For Developers and other Authorities within our hobby: We are all going to get older. Eventually, physically, financially, etc. we might be stuck with the sim we have, unable to "upgrade" to the latest and best iteration of this wonderful hobby. It's not a game to many of us, it's a legitimate simulation of a real world in which most of us wish we could live. Ironically, it's us old people that have the time to really dive into this hobby. Youth truly is wasted on the young. Please continue to make your software forever obtainable for your former customers, so that when that day comes, and we're no longer able to keep up, we can still enjoy the hobby we bought, even if our computer is completely consumed in a house fire. The verification and security protocols you have put into place to protect you from software pirates, can also be used to verify former customers. MOST, developers have done a great job at this. (Even Flight1 lol). If you decide to go out of business and refuse to offer support for the software we purchased, then you should offer the software for free, with the latest updates. Some people were raised right, and have done exactly that. (I'm talking about YOU, Real Air Simulations). All in all, my re-integration has been very successful. I only use about a third of the software that I have purchased. Most of the rest of it is junk. Even without the upgrade from "The Fixer", my sim looks as good as it ever has, and I'm flying SIDS, STARS, Hi and Low level routes, approaches, IFR, VFR, like I know what I'm doing.

Long Enough ... thanks for your consideration

Hi, I have FSX sp2 and DX10 fixer last version. I have found no apparent differences in graphic between CFAS On and either "2X" or "NoAA" selected (CFAS turns gray but on on state). Except several FPS increments between the two options. So in what situation i can see a difference?

	Hi Steve,

	I purchased DX10ScenerFixer_3_3_103 and DX10CloudShadows_1_6_0_revised in May of 2017,

I tried it but my old video card was too slow for it to work.

I just bought a new faster card so I would like to upgrade to the newest version and try it again.

I lost all my emails from that time period so I don't know my account info.

	Can you help?

	Thanks,

	Steve Canham
