Fastspring have introduced new charges which make continuing to sell the fixer uneconomic. I therefore intend to remove the product from sale at the end of March (2024).

    1. Dawn/Dusk. There is a problem at the transition from dawn and dusk to day. At legacy airports the ground may appear like chrome. I have a fix which will be available by early next week. Fixed in build 19 2. bkg.bmp/envmap.bmp If somehow these have been converted to a .dds then the installation will fail. I have updated the manual to say this. You need to restore the original bkg.bmp and remove the dds. I hope to be able to work around this more gracefully. Added Additional Checks in Build 17 and Build 19 3. envmap.bmp As a separate issue if your envmap.bmp is still there but is a different size to the original then all is well until you try and disable effects. A…

There is a new version 5.3 build 139 available for download. The new version addresses two significant issues that were introduced with Version 5.0. Issue 1 The first problem was a FSX load error after the libraries were installed that prevented FSX running. The problem here was that I had accidentally created a reference to the latest version of the DX10 DirectX libraries (June 2010). Most customers had this version installed either by · downloading and running a recent Microsoft DirectX installer · installing FSX Steam which ships with a post 2010 DirectX installer · Installing another game which ships with a pos…

Please always include your real name in your post. If you have an issue or a question please do not resurrect very old threads. It’s ok to add to a recent post on the same issue, but please do not reply to a thread older than 3 months as it probably refers to entirely different fixer code base.

  6. Hi, After installing DX10Scenery Fixer, I could not install the library, error message: After searching with SteveFx's help, I realized that it was the antivirus that was blocking the program. I did not think about the antivirus at the beginning of my research because I had never had a problem with him, the problem came after an update. To fix the problem (with bitdefender 2018) you need: - / open bitedefender - / click "see features" - / in the Safe Files section (bottom right) click on "access to the application" - / in this window, you will see all apps blocked by bitedefender, choose: dx10controller.exe and click the button to the right of th…

The most common reasons not to see cloud shadows are 1) having an old version of fsl spotlights installed, download the latest version from their website. This applies even if you have the free version. 2) having version 3 of reshade installed 3) test flight is a paused flight 4) test flight is in winter at a high latitude so sun is low and shadows are very faint, can you see vc shadows? Or shadows on aircraft externally? Can you see cloud shadows on the sea looking towards sun? 5) test flight is in reduced visibility e,g with haze injected by weather engine, and the fixer shadow option to reduce fade in poor visibility is not ticked. 6) some…

    1. Clouds appear as lines low down on distant mountains and can be seen to extend across hanging valleys. Sorry but this is fundamental to the (simple but fast) approach that is used and I do not anticipate any improvement. 2) When flying in the vicinity of hills/mountains a hard edge can be seen moving as the shadow is revealed without fading. This was fixed in 1.3 3) Autogen is not currently shaded by clouds and so stands out. This is fixed in 1.4 . 4) In a few cases clouds do not appear at all. This is actually a fixer issue related to systems which have had fsx and fsxse and fsx is removed and fsx:se reinstalled. This was addressed in the Fixer…

This is covered in the manual Product Updates If an additional version of DX10Scenery Fixer is produced then you will be notified as follows:  By a post on my blog http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/  By an email from the Flight Sim Store (assuming that you requested the notification option). This will be sent within a week of the new version being available. The recommended update procedure if updating a version 2.3 or later is as follows: 1. Download the new version from your Flight Sim Store account. 2. Launch the downloaded FSS Installer for the new version and follow the instructions, reentering your key if necessary. 3. Laun…

For ATI/AMD customers using Steve Parsons' new DX10 Fixer, here is how to apply maximum AA/AF settings and force vSync. First, you need RadeonPro - http://www.radeonpro.info/ Enabling FXAA using RadeonPro - while in game with RadeonPro, you can hit CTRL-O to open RadeonPro's OSD and then use CTRL+F to turn FXAA on and off. FXAA (Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing) can (for free) provide a slight "additional" smoothing to edges as it will combine with SSAA. http://youtu.be/rj8-PpmJ6pI #1. Install you DX10 fixer. Switch to DX10 using Steve's tool. Enable the effects if you have not already during the install. #2. Select 8xAA in DX10 Fixer's dialogue box. #3. Y…

Hey there, so after a long hiatus I pulled my FSX from the attic and decided to get back into it. Obviously the fact that the fixer is no longer available at all has hit me quite hard. Rumor apparently has it that there's a freeware version of it still floating around somewhere that contains at least some of the features? I've sadly come up entirely empty handed so far, it seems like this piece of engineering has been completely lost to history... Does anyone know of literally any way to still get my hands on any version of the fixer in 2025? Or alternatively, if there are available tools that do similar things? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Problem: no rain or snow at all I use FSX Gold on a networked system. Using AS16+ASCA on the client with bad weather incl. precipitation indicated in AS16, there is never anything like that to see in the sim. But... Without AS16+ASCA, using the default weather options in FSX, I can see snow or rain. I don´t understand that. I opened ports for AS16 in the firewall, renewed the shaders, went back to DX9, uninstalled the DX10 libaries in the Fixer over and over again, no luck. Hope somebody has an idea, because I think this problem should have many users. Thank you for support Peter

Hello, I've been using DX10 Fixer and always wanted to buy the cloud shadows add-on as well, does adding the cloud shadows use VAS? And if so, is it a significant amount? I ask because with all scenery and sometimes VAS hungry planes I use, I am often already pretty close to the maximum VAS limit. P.S. Thank you so much @SteveFx for your awesome DX10 Fixer Tool, it really has made the FSX experience so much better with all of it's great features. I've only been using it for a few years and I know I'm late to the party in saying this but I am so grateful for it because I still use FSX:SE often for various reasons even though I do use modern flight simula…

Dear Sirs, hello to the community, 'cause there are no faq - I describe my problem very briefly: Using the FSX SP 2 with some Landscape-AddOns, Airports and - pretty new - the highliy detailed Aerosoft Airbus A 320 - I bought the DX 10 Controller by Steve. Nice tool with shadows and so on - until the FSX with the problem listed above. I read, that DX 10 Controller would solve this problem - but unfortunately it does'nt. The same problem exists on the "ancient" fs 09 - but there is a tool named "4 GB-Patch" - it is working. Thanks for - helpful - tips. Andy

  17. Hello. My name's Leandro Barreto and I need a fix for Cloud Shadows. Being a modder and programmer myself, this should be easy, I think. Everything so far is working great, except for one thing. I took a dozen of screenshots that clearly explain the problem and my thoughts about a fix. How should I upload them here? Anyway, let me explain first. I purchased both DX10 Fixer and Cloud Shadows this week to use in a clean installation of FSX Steam Edition in a Windows 11 machine. I'm not using the new FSX beta version. But I got a couple of DLCs from Steam as well, so I can't tell if my installation is pure vanilla. Most of them are only missions and aircrafts. I think the…

Your DX10 fixer it's a must have in my system, but my copy was bought in Flight Sim Store, so I can not to install it because the problem with the identification on their closed servers. After read some posts in this forum, if I've understood correctly, buying a copy of your DX10 Cloud Shadows I would get a new serial for the DX10 fixer too. Is it correct? Regards

  21. Have been using the DX10Fixer in FSXSE for years and no problem. All of a sudden there are black dots along the roads. See attached. I went on AVSIM and was told it was a DX10 problem. I turned off DX10 Preview and sure enough the black dots went away. What to do to get the fixer back on track? https://imgur.com/XhmwP6J

  22. On to the next problem, I've tried tons of DX10Controller settings to no avail. I've even converted all the textures to DXT5 to no avail. I'm finding it very hard to tell what this plane uses for a texture for the cockpit windows. Btw, I've installed the default rain40 file so the Rain button is no longer greyed out. Suggestions?

  23. I didn't find any mention here or in the manual of VC shadow glitches or disappearing VC shadows in the main window if new view windows are created but that is what I'm getting. If I undock it and put the new view onto my 2nd monitor, the main screen VC shadows correct themselves once I change to a new Ezdok VC position. I'm guess this is just a matter of nothing is perfect nature of the beast? I need to ask in case there is a setting that could alleviate this as I often fly with a 2nd viewport in the corner of the main 4k screen.

  24. On install, I had the umbrella rain40.fx fixed file already installed. I replaced it with the original file. Is there now a way to enable the rain/snow functions within the Fixer? Thanks. Edit: Also, is there a way to remove the special install 'reflective' texture. Its causing wings to look rainbow/oily and I think I'd prefer an unshiny texture. Thanks again.

  25. Just purchased both products, great overall. Using the latest Ready for Pushback plane it has nice shadows and outside textures now but is missing the floor (and some wall) textures in both the cockpit and pax areas. ie I can see the tarmac surface and airport vehicles from different interior cameras. Floor textures showed up properly without DX10 Fixer. The Fixer added shadows and outside plane texture but I lost interior floor texture. Yes, I have most settings On as that is why I bought this Fixer for more and better graphics. Turning Off the various FSX menu shadow options did not resolve the issue. Suggestions?
