I pretty much gave up on FSX sometime in 2007. Too frustrated with poor performance and bugs and lies/propaganda from ACES. But the other day I just saw in PC Pilot about the upcoming MS Flight.About MS Flight:1. Good decision to finally rewrite the graphics engine from the ground up. This is the only way forward. No more bolting stuff on and calling it a new version!2. ACES team had to go. They had grown too fat and happy off flight sim and did not have the skills or energy to redevelop the sim to use the latest technologies.3. Assuming Flight developers are competent we can expect it to have great visuals and performance, even with add ons. Just because this is a flig…

Has MS released any info to confirm if Flight will be a true 64 bit game? I really hope so, if they are not providing any backwards compatibility why not just make a clean break and build it for the future and for exclusive use on Windows 7 64 bit machines.Mark.

  5. So far, I have done comparisons with screenshots 2, 3, 5, and 6 of Flight with FSX. I plan on doing shot 4 soon, although I am still searching for the location of shot 1. Until then, here are the current ones.Screenshot 2Screenshot 3Screenshot 5Screenshot 6I can already tell you screenshot 4 won't be easy to replicate! :(:(

Just been reading on the Aerosoft forums that Mathijs Kok is not too impressed with MS and Flight, cant say I blame him, his company developed for MS Sims, Train Sim 2 was announced then cancelled, it was resurrected then cancelled again, the successor to FSX was cancelled, its now resurrected ... I'm quite sure it will go ahead this time, but Mathijs seems serious about giving his company's support to X Plane 10 this time and has put his own company's sim on hold for now ... make of that what you will. From a thread on the Aerosoft forums by Mathijs ... Mathijs has voiced concerns about the way MS have handled their highly successful Flight Sim series before and I'm …

  7. I recently received my copy of the May/June PC Pilot magazine and there was a pretty good interview between the magazine and Microsoft. There were no names mentioned, but here are some paraphrased excerpts and comments/opinions from me about what I THOUGHT I READ (please go easy on me if I made any mistakes):1st Question - Has Microsoft Flight been designed completely from the ground up or does it include elements from FSX? Microsoft.....we're building from the ground up focusing on the "purist" simmer as well as a larger range of people with varied interests in aviation....we will take advantage of the expertise and existing elements of the existing FS code base and arch…

I would really like the forthcoming MS Flight to include missions the way FSX did and improve on them ... I know many purists disapproved of them, but sometimes you just need to let your hair down and have some fun, it was quite remarkable what the FSX mission engine could do and I've only just been reminded of this by trying the freebie and then extremely low price missions from Vertical Studio's as reviewed here on Avsim ... very clever stuff with great voice acting and little surprises :)MS Flight guys must check this forum, please let them know if you would like missions included in the forthcoming sim, so long as time spent on them does not detract from the main sim …

Suppose MS Flight "better multiplayer integration" means loading avatar passengers (as in Second Life) onto MS Flight passenger aircraft (pilots and flight attendants too!)...Suppose Flight could interface with other VR Sims out there that modelled the Real World ("First Life")...Suppose Flight integrated into that First Life Sim with virtual money, and that passengers would pay for virtual tickets with that virtual money...Suppose those virtual passengers (avatars, each with a real person behind them) boarded the aircraft *you* were flying...Suppose after safely crossing the skies thanks to your piloting skills (and to VATSIM ATC services, natch) you goosed your aircraft…

  12. I don't know... considering the game hasn't been released yet, no proper evaluations or benchmarks have been made, and all we see are minor marketing screenshots and videos about MS Flight, I'd just like to say:I'm totally indifferent about Flight. If it sucks, I'll go X-Plane.If it's great, I'll go Flight. No point in judging a game that isn't even Beta yet, let alone released.Seriously... how can anyone be totally unimpressed or wholly sold on this product yet? Honestly...Mostly, I just wanted to give the uncommitted masses an agnostic thread choice to post in.

Saw this yesterday posted by "Chock" (Al Bradbury) in the PMDG forum. Its set to be a helicopter sim, but it looks pretty cool after watching the video and looking at the screen shots. Makes you wonder how Flight will stack up against it as far as scenery and weather. You never know, maybe this one could expand into something greater down the line as well. http://takeonthegame.com/

Any educated guesses as to a release date. We know from the past that MS likes to release in October to cash in on Christmas shopping which leads me to believe that it will be out in October 2011, can if really be as late as October 2012 ? Add another 12 to 18 months for our fav addons to appear and this baby could be a long long way out.Mark.

Exploring the online forest I have discovered several differencing opinions about what People think needs to be in MS Flight. The most popular “Wish’s” seem to be· Career mode. Where certain requirements must be met Before getting certain aircraft· Auto Assigned Routes. Mostly people who have never heard of a Virtual Airline want this one.· “Hyper-Realistic” Aircraft. Laval-D Quality right out the box. These seem to be several Personal preference wish’s, but I can remember a Survey sent out by Microsoft asking if we would like to see these. And other things implemented in the next FS version In my own opinion I believe FS is fine the way it is. What…

Can't stand all the negative headings. MS Flight looks and smells like the real deal. The old cynics may say, but you don't understand about MS and Flight Sim! Oh yes I do, but this is going to be something quite different and a whole lot better. I am hoping to leave the FSX past completely behind, despite how good it has become, the very day MS Flight comes out, and be part of making it take off and soar! The sooner, the better...Kind Regards,

  20. I know a lot of developers visit this forum, and i would like to know are the guys at M.S. liasing with current industry companies such as FTX, Flight1, aerosoft et al over flight ??What concerns me is that ok perhaps a total re-write is long overdue but is flight going to be it?I have invested a lot of money on scenery, a/c upgrades and hardware for an FSX that is finally starting to fullfill its promise when released, will all our hard earned cash be destined to the bin with flight? is there anyone out there working with M.S. that can give us an honest bit of guidance? will current a/c and scenery work on FS 11??I for one am getting more and more p--sed off by the promi…

I'm not to familiar with Nvidia inspector so that's why I'm asking if this new version is showing something related to Flight been DX10 because it's not in the older version 1.9.4.2?There is a new section named "Compatibility" in the new Inspection version 1.9.5.5 and Flight is showing under SLI Compatibility bits (DX10).....or is this something not related to Flight at all?

I'm loving the 3D modelling in Ovi's new 3D maps. Do you think we can expect something like this for high detailed area's in MS Flight?http://maps.ovi.com/3d/#landmark-44I prefer it over google's 3d buildings. Looks more realisticRegardsSpen

I found an article that relates to serious performance gains in DX11 for games that take advantage of multi-threaded rendering. If Flight takes advantage of this, there is a chance of getting much better frame rates.http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=31520674&postcount=28

  24. I am expecting some new news from the MS Flight team this or next week. To coincide with the pattern that has emerged so far. With the release of news/info around 1.5 months after the previous news/info. Has anyone else noticed this pattern? Is anyone else expecting new information about FLIGHT soon? I cant wait! What is everyone's opinion on this 'trend', or am I just noticing things that don't even exist? Jamie ♥

MS has been giving us scenery shots and movies about Flight for almost 8 months and they all have been shots of a very small area of Hawaii! Its like watching re-runs of an opening episode repeatedly. To me this is bad marketing. Come on Microsoft, It has been 8 months and you keep showing us the same thing over and over. Please move on and show us something different for heaven's sake. If you don't have any other area types developed, perhaps you were not ready to announce Flight in August.
