2 months ago I ranted about how MS Flight will still be using the very old fashioned 2D clouds, which is IMHO one of the most unrealistic aspects of the game given that most real world flying will have close encounters to clouds. See the old thread here:http://forum.avsim.n...sing-2d-clouds/ Well guys, have a look at this trailer for this upcoming air combat MMO (Yes it is a MMO) called World of Planes, from the same people who made IL2: Wings of Prey. Also note this is DirectX 9. Just thinking, If Microsoft can do DX10 preview in FSX, surely they can do something similar to this. I guess we can always dream.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LEQ_1Kt0Cs

What are some of the suggestions you've made to Microsft re: Improvement, realism, ideas etc? Keep your answers to the point Here are some of mine... - Runway Wigwags (At least at international airports, I find this is a crucial part of real life ground navigation especially in no vis on the ground)- ATC Ground Control should give left/right instructions along with taxi ways (ie> LEFT on Echo, LEFT of Bravo, RIGHT on Alpha)- A reply to Tower for "rejected" take off, so they can give you instructions to take off again etc...- Looking around realism (This one is kind of hard to explain) but when you're in an aircraft and say you look out the window, sometimes you need to…

I don't know if some, or most, of you have seen this but for those who haven't, there's quite a bit of interesting information about Flight on the wikipedia website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Flight

A german magazine wrote, that Microsoft "forces" the retailers, to sell FSX for 25€. The difference between this new price and their (=retailer) price will be paid by Microsoft itself.(Speculative) background: Microsoft wants to clear the way for Microsoft flight. I can name several. Keep the ground texture is good as it is high up as it is close to the ground, More realistic default aircraft, ATC that is not dumb, Have the game programmed so that weather radars actually work and dont just show clouds, and much more! what about you guys?

From what I remember, when the development of FSX was underway, the scenario went something like this: CPUs were single core and about 2 to 3Ghz. The expectation at the time was that they would continue to rise and FSX was modeled toward 7 to 8 Ghz computers of the future (or whatever number of Ghz they envisioned). In reality, CPUs got around 3Ghz, they about hit their limit with very slow increments past the 3 Ghz (We have only increased about 2Ghz in the past 10 years – or something like that). So, CPU designers began to go mult-core at about the time FSX was in final development (too late to go backward to fix it for true multi-core support). When MS realized that t…

Why haven't Microsoft shown anything for the last few months. They need to show something now like a new video showing features of the aircraft included with the sim and scenary away from Hawaii, or otherwise, just more and more people are going to start to walk away from flight and its not going to be popular. What do you think? Nathan Green

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsHpY3KEQBc&feature=player_detailpage#t=502sThe last few minutes of 10 Minute Taxi were dedicated to some "inside" info regarding Flight.Lets review what was said:No set focus on aircraft type Realistic physics engine set to be produced for higher fidelity add-ons Online store will help to prevent piracy for 3rd party developers New way of installing add-ons Runs of today's hardware, NOT tomorrow's Planned February 2012 Release Thoughts, anyone?

Hello Gents, Because of serious problems with FSX, I was forced to wipe the drive so I took the opportunity to instal the 64 bit version which comes with a pre-installed SP1 of its own. Do I still need to load the SP1 and 2 we have used forever? Thanks,Granddpa

I think it would be interesting to hear people's thoughts on the following question:What features and/or attributes would MS Flight have to have in order for you to switch from your current sim (FSX, FS9, or other) to MS Flight?

Just a small snippet of information I just found out... Nvidia have just updated their drivers to 280.26. I downloaded and booted up Nvidia Inspector, to have a look at my FSX settings and upon searching for the title, MS Flight appears. Is this a hint that a demo / release could be ready very soon? Let the speculation begin... P.S. Download the drivers from here and look for yourself :)

According to Flights previous posts it is the right time for new screenshots. They've posted them in January, March and May (every two month, except last year). And the last one was on 26th. Should we expect to see another sneak peek now?

Hey all,Title saids it all, but what aircraft do you think will be added to the game, especially as Microsoft are appealing to both the "casual and hardcore" flight simmer. Are we likely to see well known fighters and famous aircraft like the F-22 Raptor, Airbus A380 etc.. to please the casual players, while planes such as Boeing 737 or Concorde added for the hardcore/plane-lover user? I personally hope they mix it up this time, not the same old same old we have previously seen in the last couple of Flight Simulators, my list of 5 aircraft I would love to see in Flight are, 1. Cessna 1522. Airbus A340-6003. Gulfstream G6504. Dash 85. Lockheed Constellation Love to hear you…

I updated my mac tonight which updated the Safari web browser, I then visited the Microsoft Flight website as I do everyday to check for updates and the page didn't render properly as the big background image of breaking through the clouds was the only thing showing on the page for some reason. Seeing this image staring back at me made me wonder - I know the background image of the website has been talked about already, but it struck me that the cloud shadows in that image are very clear with a pocket of sunlight further in the distance.Do you think from the outset that the development team chose this on the basis that cloud shadows add so much realism and they wanted to …

FSX, 5 years ago was shipped on 2 DVDs. With a few add ons my folder says it's taking up 18GB of which 12GB is scenery. In order to improve the scenery resolution in flight surely the scenery resolution needs to be upped by a factor of at least 2, and hopefully 4. As scenery resolution data size goes up with the square of the resolution then would indicate 50 to 200 GB of scenery data. Assuming data is compressed similar to FSX then we're still looking at more distribution size then is cost effective with DVDs. So would flight ship on Blue Ray or are we expected to download scenery?

Hello, I have been searching your forum and I have come up with that the MSFS community knows nothing about Project Oblivion. To cut to the point, Project Oblivion have been illegally converting MSFS aircraft to X-Plane and also stealing other X-Plane author's flight models and panels without permission. Some X-Plane users have been gathering evidence to get Project Oblivion shut down, but we do not know who's MSFS aircraft they have stolen from. If anyone knows who the authors are of the aircraft on their website please let us know and we will try to get them shut down. Their website (Translated into English) is http://translate.goo...l%26prmd%3Divns Thank you,Seth Ed…

In several days the gamescom in Cologne, Germany will start.Last year, MS Flight was there announced, so the developers had more then a year time to make process. If they would show a demo or something else on this event, when will they announce this: a few days/weeks before or will they make a surprise like in 2010? Let's wait and hope :) Regards from Munich, GermanyChristopher Schenk

MS Flight will be out roughly (maybe) about the same time Windows 8 comes out, and we all know that windows 8 utilizes the use of touch screens (tablet and desktop) more details to be announced during September BUILD conference, would you think that it's a good idea to have MS Flight supporting this new trend in computer interface by allowing control of most of the switches directly on the screen?
