I'm wondering if MS Flight will accurately depict runways that, in real life, have different elevations at various points along the runway, either at the ends or at points in-between. IOW, the runway will follow the terrain of the land, as in reality. I understand that X-plane has incorporated this feature.Anyone have any knowledge of this? Thanks.

The forum has been a little slow the past few days, so I thought I would pose a question to all the good people on this forum.I have heard many people on the forum state that the current screenshots/videos represent visuals that are "early in development". I remember the same being stated when FSX was in the development cycle, and pretty much everything that MS exposed to the user community that was in-game (not the magic screenshot, we all remember that) did not change compared to the production version. I am really curious to respectfully know what people who state "early in development" think will be different from the production version. Again, I just don't think M…

Seriously all im seeing sofar is a patched FSX, im starting to believe this is just more or less a hoax to get some easy money from us. They shut down aces team because they screwed up FSX and apperantly didnt have a clue about what way hardware was going at the time. But now they are seeing others getting close to start making a new flightsim, so now they are getting cold feet and just updating FSX to run better, we all know FSX was completely unusable and a turnoff for an average gamer. The average gamer that bought FSX was so dissapointed with it, and i read all the game sites to i know, i seriously doubt any average gamer would take a chance with this again. Hardcore s…

First I believe that voice command for ATC and crew simulation is one of the most immersing factor along with a joke and throttle and TrackIR... I should add "when it works". In the following, let's suppose it works fine.In my opinion, voice recognition should be integrated within MS Flight and a part of the API should be dedicated to this. Basically, the API would let an addon register to the integrated speech recognition engine (SRE). Then, the engine would signal the registered addons whenever a speech has been processed. The addon is free to handle the signal in the usual way, using SimConnect (or its hopefully simplified successor). In this scenario the filtering of …

In honor of April Fools' Day, and all of the good speculation taking place on the MS Flight forum, I would love to hear any good April Fools' Day announcements that any of you might have regarding MS Flight. For starters, here is mine:Aces Studios, creators of Microsoft Flight Simulator series, and Laminar Research, creators of X-Plane, announce merger and creation of X-Flight.

If you own multiple addons that install textures (think GEX, Orbx, REX) in the standard Texture folder of FS, there is a chance that these products overlap (and override) each other. Each product usually provide a way to backup the current texture set, but unless you track your texture installation very carrefully, you have no way to know what the current textures are and what you are actually backuping.Thinking to the future Flight, it would be interesting that these textures would be somehow managed by Flight and the access to the Texture directory (or database) would be restricted. Technically, a texture installer program would have to call some Texture manager API ins…

I think MS did quite well. See a comparison:1) First there was Windows XP - everyone love/d it, great OS for its time 1) Flight Simulator 9 - everyone love/d it, great simulator, quite stable (lets omit those OOM errors, we do know why they happen)2) Then comes Windows Vista - unstable, everyone hates it, curses Microsoft for bad programming etc... 2) Same with Flight Simulator X - laggy, bad use of hardware, half curse it, half love it, need 5Ghz to run at acceptable frames etc...3) Behold Windows 7 - everyone jumps at it, Microsoft makes nice sales, everyone starts trusting Microsoft again, very well done OS 3) Flight - ?????…

Seems to me we are not going to get any more details here and that PC Pilot is the chosen channel for the majority of the detailed info in relation to Flight. I think I remember reading that the next publication would start carring more detailed info in subsequent articles. Does anyone know when the next one is due.Still a happy FSX camper tho

http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/Love the airport screenshot although the ground textures seem a little blurred but the buildings look awesome!Wonder why screenie 3/5 and 5/5 are blurred images that look like they're taken from a video?

In reading all of the posts that have been left on the flight page, it is clear that people are passionate about both their opinions and what Flight will be or should be and are not afraid to tell anyone about it. But please everyone stop bashing developers who come on here to share their info or opinions. When FSX was in the early stages to well past the time that it came out, some people were so harsh or rude to Phil Taylor and others, who gave a lot of great information to us, and it caused him to leave the post and not give anymore information. Should people be opinionated? sure they should but remember that the developers are not the one's who are financing Fligh…

Video here claims to be ideas that could be in a future version of windows live. i.e. the platform flight will be launched from.I know microsoft have said it will still be a serious sim but when I see stuff like this I can imagine users being encouraged to spend money like some giant facebook app store thing.Want ILS at that airport = $0.50Pink wheels on your 747 = $0.75Taxi lights on plane = $2.00 (Hmm, probably buy that one!)Maybe I'm being paranoid!

Does anybody have any tidbits or leads on when this might actually be offered to the public? Is there an actual tentative release date...or is it "when it's ready...we will let you know...."I just hope it is a rock-solid platform, whatever it turns out to be. I'd be very happy with that as the base requirement. No more CTD's or freezes! Microsoft...don't release it until this request is a fact! Two cents....

Judging from the number of misplaced threads in the Microsoft Flight Forum, I have to wonder if Microsoft goofed in naming their product. What do you think would have made a more suitable name?Perhaps: Microsoft Flight GameCould send the wrong message I suppose.Regards, Mike Mann

I was browsing the internet when I came across this, it seems that the first trailer wasn't actually from the game at all, but the first webisode isn't mentioned on the site.

Last night I had another great experience using FSX. This morning I took another look at the latest video from the Microsoft Flight Team. Frankly, I don't see any difference between what I was using last night and what I see in that video. I was hoping, giving the long time interval between this release and FSX, that something truly new and reinvented would emerge. Maybe it will, but the video doesn't show it. Now, compare that, for example with the difference between Battlefield 2 (in the EA/Dice franchise) and the upcoming Battlefield 3. By moving to the Frostbite 2 engine, the game will be a quantum leap forward in terms of visual immersion over the previous…

1st Trailer. Photorealistic water and sky we drooled...could these be in-game shots! :wub:2nd Trailer. Photorealistic sky and clouds...our dreams have come true, our dream simulator is being built! :( 3rd Trailer. That looks almost like...I'd say it looks EXACTLY like... FSX! It's like deja vu all over again :(

Hey guys,Microsoft has posted this new webisode of "Flight" to their showcase. I don't know if it'll be on the actual Flight website itself, but nevertheless, enjoy!http://www.microsoft.com/showcase/en/us/details/098672e6-98fc-43b6-92f5-b424696e40ccPersonally I love the new mountain scenery but I want to start seeing more than just scenery, such as atmosphere, airliners, etc. What are your thoughts?

I think Microsoft should release MS Fight as a RC to ensure thorough testing is complete. In FSX I have the London Thames with rapids. Yes the buildings are nice (I have these odd looking castles spotted around the UK which actually look rather odd!) but the textures are a little funny and you should have these fixed before releasing a Gold copy.Hopefully a few things can done like:High resolution textures and cockpits (VC included) of their default aircraft.Scenery to be top notch in at least 20 cities and airports, some city scenery like Toronto and Sydney, New York and London, Singapore and Hong Kong, to be photoreal, with city buildings.Cloud shadows to be implemented …
