If Microsoft Flight were released in the year 2500, what hardware would it run on, and how would it look? And what about the year 192,567,417?And finally the year 894,361,910,518,092?

Just curious, why is MS still using FS2000 style 2D clouds? Don't you guys think that it's odd that even though half of what a pilot see are the sky and the clouds, MS had spent very little effort on them by judging from their screenshots.Surely with today's DX11 Shader, Tessellation and AI Procedural generation technology we can come up with something better? I remember the old Jane's WW2 Fighters from 1998 had 3D Clouds. Also better haze layers would be nice, e.g. Inversions, pollution, radiation/steam fog, localized visibility changes with showers etc.

  4. Just having a brain storming sesh at 2:06am, as you do. What would you like to see (or not see) with the new MS Flight User Interface? What do you want it to look like? How do you want it laid out? Do you want simplicity or more advanced features? Any thoughts on this, no matter what they may be, are much appreciated! Jamie ♥

In the past Microsoft did show Flight simulator in its mid development stage during Oshkosh air show, would you think that MS will follow that tradition this year?

Hi all the reader and all who are w8 for a nice flight simulator. Today i want to show you some types of scenery that can be used and which type would you like more and think it will be better for MS FLIGHT.Scenery Type 1:This Is FTX AUSTRALIA This is like normal fsx terrain but changed texture for better quality and texture from satalite. With autogen based on the terrain.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Scenery Type 2:This is a satalite image scenery called photorealistic and its only the terrain with buildings on Note: NO AUTOGEN.______________________________________________________…

  7. In every Flight Simulator to date, there never has been any really good camera effects. I'll try to explain what I mean... When you fly, in FSX, it seems as if your flying with no weather at all (even when flying with huge amounts of wind shear) ... well it seems to feel like that to me. You expect the runway to be bumpy, or at least somewhat bumpy when you land and/or take off, but on Flight Simulator its like moving along a ice rink instead of a runway - it just feels too smooth. I'd really love to see some sort of head movement (I know there is some in FSX, but its more of an annoyance than improving immersion, especially when trying to click things). Or maybe to be ab…

I was doing a nighttime landing into ORBX's superb YMML Melbourne Intl. Airport in FSX, and I was very pleased with the textures, models and ligthing. The one thing that stood out in the brightly lit terminal area was the all the dark aircraft, including mine. All the aircraft look like they were sitting in a dark unlit field. It just really was a stark realization that this is just a sim. I would love to see some lighting on aircraft as they sit or approach the terminal flood lights. I hope this is something that is really improved in MS Flight. Do we have any hint at the lighting in the game using real-time rendered 3d lights or are we going back to light textures on ai…

  10. So far, in my mind I am completely neutral on the new Flight. I think this will be an interesting topic because so many of us have so much invested in FSX and in my mind all of the great weather, scenery (ORBX, GEX and on and on)and many great aircraft are going to be hard for MS to beat out of the box. I have reached the point with my older equipment, I have a very nice flight sim experience. I know for sure something pretty exciting will have to come to light before I take the leap again or at least right away. Don't get me wrong, I still love jumping off the cliff but the sudden stops have taken a toll on me over the years. LOLSo what features will MS have to offer ton…

This idea just hit me this morning, I like to fly modern and also classic. It would be cool if you could select from say 5 different decades of flying. For instance if you select 1930's only airfields of the time would be displayed in the world. You could do mail runs trying to find your destination by dead reckoning. Then if you select the 1950's the world would be filled with DC-6's and Lockheed Constellations. If you select the late 1960's there could be a lot of haze in the air from all the hippies smoking. Well, you get the idea, wouldn't this be cool!

Since so many scenery add-ons make such a mess of the FSX installation, and since compatibility with FSX scenery ought to be a design goal for Flight, perhaps it might be wise to implement compatibility with FSX scenery (andaircraft) via an "FSX Compatibility Sandbox".Then all FSX add-ons would be required/tricked into installing their files onlyin the Compatibility Sandbox.Once add-on install completes, a special MS Flight module would analyse thefiles in the the Compatibility Box for misbehaviour, conflicts, duplicate airports, etc. and present the simmer with an on-screen report where the user couldselect fixes (whenever possible), e.g. selecting the desired airport in ca…

In PC Pilot MS claims they wanted it to have theperformance range to provide continued improvements as computersdevelop. Can any of you software and i.t market experts explainsimply why this unpopular policy was more important to MS than currentuser satisfaction? More shelf life on users computer? Do theaero-engines wear out after 5000 flying hours? Does the softwarewear out? Of course not! Would I be delighted if the software gave“a fantastic experience out of the box” so I do not have to wait5 years and spend more? Yes please. Would I ever buy softwareknowing it is really primarily designed for hardware 10 years fromnow? No way. So why is forcing hardware upgr…

  21. Sounds like we won't have to wait as long again to see another update. They are still deep in development, and by the look of the excitable text, they have a few more surprises for us yet, I can wait to see what they come up with next. - Dave.NEWS FROM THE DEVELOPMENT TEAMFriday, May 26, 2011 - Welcome to our May edition of screenshots!Thank you to all that have been eager for new content on the site. We have been and remain in a very heads down development phase, but wanted to give all of you a little taste of the work in progress. This is a very exciting time for the team and we hope to share a little more soon. Thank you! The Microsoft Flight Development Team

Howdy,I haven't seen anything about the weather engine. I'd really like to know if that's going to be addressed. Ever since FS2004 the ability to do IMC can be difficult. I prefer IMC myself. Has this been discussed already?

  24. Howdy folks!I've been a long time simmer. Going as far back as 1986.With MS Flight looming in the distance there are undoubtedly going to be many add-ons and after market products. I've been with the sim community long enough to know what to expect. With that comes the on-line activation and the common denominator that all users start out the same; as criminals until proven otherwise. This is not an attitude with just Flight Sim developers. This is something that's been going on in all aspects of the digital world. I'm sure some developers don't have a choice when it comes to distributing their application. I'm not sure about other people and simmers, but I build and re-b…
