To put my reflections into perspective it might be useful to introduce myself. I have been out of the loop for many years now when it comes to flight simulation, but I still occasionally follow the news on simulation related stuff. I did a lot of flight simming years ago during my youth and I always was fascinated by the idea of recreating a realistic virtual world. For a long time, flight simulators where the only consumer programs out there which attempted to recreate such a believable virtual world. Professionally I am working as an atmospheric scientist and therefore got quite a weak spot when it comes to depicting that particular part of the simulated world. :-) Furt…

That the entirety of Hawai is available as a FREE unlimited usage download at Christmas timeAnd that the entire globe will be available at sectional pricing or some scalar as available. That would generate an enormous captive audience with the potential of all becoming addicted to he game IF it is worth it's salt.Otherwise Flight stands to be a big loud belly-flop if its only HAWAI forever and ever.....allen

The thread you have all been waiting for...the October FSX and Flight Screenshot Comparisons! This set was actually a little easier, but a few shots, I had to just pick random locations. (specifically for shot 3, 9, and 10) For those shots, location doesn't matter as much as just getting a basic idea of the improvement. And for shot 4 and 7, I was unable to find the true location, so those locations are random as well. I determined that shot 5 was taken at Lihue Intl. While the FSX shot looks to be a completely different location, it's not. That's just how different Flight is from FSX. The exact position is not matched up because I believe the tower might be in the wrong …

I was reviewing the new November screenshots for MS Flight and as soon as I came across the two "highway" shots, I immediately thought that they could have come straight from a dedicated driving simulator/game. That road looks a bit TOO detailed for a flight sim...What if MS plans on releasing a flying/driving simulator based in Hawaii? One could literally drive to the airport and take flight from there... It would really take "as real as it gets" to a whole new level. It would probably explain the limited area being shown so far and would allow MS to market to the driving sim genre as well. Just a thought...

Its like saying goodbye to an old friend.. I started using the MS series back when FS4 was the latest and greatest.. In fact, i probably still have the box and diskettes somewhere for it.. I remember flying in just specific regions that had been made, then the HUGE step up to airports all over the world and finally EVERY airport in the world.. Like most of the diehards here i remember getting FSX the day it came out.. I couldnt get it home and loaded fast enough.. I molded the systems i built around the running of FSX..I guess what i am trying to get at is this.. The flight sim series has been improvement upon improvement.. Getting better and better and more realistic as …

Under low system requirments: GPU: 256 MB DX 9.0c Compliant!!!NOOOOOOO!!!!So does this mean that Flight will be in DX9 with some stupid preview dx10/11??Or maybe backwards compatibility with DX10/11? That doesn't sound much better...Is this gonna be a problem, issue, nuisance, or graphics/performance decreaser?Or do I just not know what I'm talking about? Help me out

Anyone able to identify this plane from the cockpit view. Screenshot 4 is taken from approach to Lihue airport PHLI. The ILS frequency is correct for the runway, but the coms1 frequency is set to 124.850 and I cannot find what that is tuned to or the NAV2 frequency for that matter.

FIRST! HA!*EDIT* Someone hit Submit before me! *EDIT*Anyways, the Nov update is live. Guess what? MORE HAWAII!!!http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/Enjoy this months tropical paradise. The news was also updated about performance. They put up the expected minimum req's for PC hardware."We’ve found the game runs well on low graphics settings with hardware meeting the following specifications:" CPU: Dual Core 2.0 GHz GPU: 256 MB card capable of shader 3.0 (DX 9.0c compliant) HD: 10 GB Hard Drive space OS: WinXP SP3 RAM: 2.0GB It was also one of our goals to ensure that the game can run well with high settings on hardware that is attainable today. Based on our testing o…

If you go to the Microsoft Flight website, it says... no, encourages its audience to email them comments or questions. Surely one of the top questions is what other scenery besides Hawaii exists in this incarnation of flight simulator. Like many software companies, they hide behind an NDA and a position of "secrecy" as if they were hiding the launch codes to nukes. It's a freaking game!! Believe me, if Microsoft is worried that by telling the community they are making a global flight simulator-- I doubt some other software company is going to burst on the scene with a new flight simulator to spoil the MS launch. So Microsoft, if you have any regard-- in the slightest-…

This time its art lead! This should put an early rest to further rumors it was canned.https://careers.microsoft.com/jobdetails.aspx?ss&pg=0&so&rw=1&jid=68018&jlang=ENThe description is bound to ###### off a few hard core users here though."Join the team responsible for building the most fun and rewarding flying experiences available. Microsoft Flight is a reinvention of the classic software franchise, bringing the wonder for flight to whole new audiences. We are looking for an Art Lead who can define, refine, and extend the visual elements of the game while balancing the need for fun and approachability for a broad set of users."

2 things I would like to see from Microsoft Flight, first and foremost the design team needs to take chapter from the developers of Flight Unlimited 95 and the flight dynamics of that sim. It was way ahead of its time and that sim responded more like real aircraft. Second, I wish they would bring back the crop dusting feature that MSFS4 had. That was a lot of fun and would look great with the new graphics. I think it may have been in MSFS5 as well but I don't think it went beyond that.

I've been wanting this game to have more realisim (not to much or the game will be screwed up). They should make the airports realistic too. Then, we wouldn't have to download or purchase Addons unless you aren't satisfied with the default. The runways should be a bit realistic as well as the taxiways. It also should have a few realistic aircraft. Also realistic ATC (not too realistic). Now that would be worth buying (No efence for the other sims).towerdude

I am. Are you? If so where are Intel at with their latest chipset release? What motherboard / processor are you looking at? Obviously i'm going to try and get the best performance for my budget at the time of Flights release in 2011 / 2012. Will we be beyond the i3, i5, i7 stage by then and onto something new from Intel?
