In the Microsoft Simulator scheme of things, even if FLIGHT were to be Microsoft's FS-11, that would make it already over 3 years out of date.MSF2000.......2000MSF2002.......2002MSF FS9.......2004MSF FSX.......2006MSFFS11......2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.From the screenshots and the little info it actually looks like it is already out of date.(FSX with the NGX and great scenery looks 10 times better)MS made a huge mistake when their "suits" decided that it was time to get rid of this thing before we loose anymore money.Lockheed Martin were clever enough to see that this platform still has a huge future and they have already made great changes in 2011.The main difference …

That Microsoft Flight will be a failure for the flight simulation community almost as bad as Microsoft Bob was a product failure. That's my honest opinion anyway. I doubt that this product is somehow going to pull in more new customers that don't already do flight simulation today, and I suspect that enough existing FSX customers are going to be disatisfied with the direction Flight is going that they will not buy any Flight add-on content once they have tried the single free island version. Especially when all add-on content must go through the Microsoft marketplace. I honestly think that Microsoft Flight will be a failure for Microsoft. We may never know for sure, …

What Microsoft hopes for -- "The game will appeal to the masses and will make the experience of flight available to everyone who has an interest in aviation but was too intimidated by the complexity of flight simulator"Reality-- "Flight will be downloaded by teens (in between rounds of Call of Duty) who will quickly tire of the boredom of flying thru golden rings in the sky, and instead will crash into buildings, ships or any other landmarks for fun"

No more free world feeling. If you download free Hawaii and buy the UK expansion pack do you simply teleport to London once you hit the free Hawaii scenery boundary? Yuck. Bit like being denied to explore in COD or being automatically killed in Battlefield 2 when you try to go exploring.Weird, feel like its lost a whole lot of freedom.

... to further tweak FSX and call it FSXI and develop still Flight on the side for free? Why antagonize a whole base after 25 years? Besides the whole thing of passing though rings or squares on the sky is not new and it never really caught on. Even ATP, Professional ... had it. And what's the fun to guide a plane with the mouse? Who asked for it? Isn't that how missiles operate? It was supposed to be about planes and helicopters, not missiles.Who is running the show up there in Redmount??? Just plain crazy.Okay, Aerosoft the gate is again opened for a new Simulator. Sorry for the hicop suspense, it wasn't so.Man, do they got it all wrong.Cheers,MAB :( :( :(

According to Fly Away Simulation "The game will feature it’s own marketplace, with content regulated by Microsoft. There will be no scenery development kit and hence no user created content. The Live marketplace allows for constant content flow and users that opt-in to share data, allow the team to react to user behaviors to improve the game and add more of what users want. It also allows for quicker response to user requests, fixes and general improvements. On top of that, integration with the Microsoft Flight® website offers a more direct link between team and users."Read the article here: http://flyawaysimula...rosoft-studios/Sorry, for starting this thread, it looks…

I made the mistake of judging XP-10 too fast, so I'm not going to make that mistake with flight also. I personally will wait a little longer to dismiss Flight too early, until I see more from Las Vegas. Although, my first impressions are not wowing me, if it is what I think it might be, then I have XPX and FSX. :(

I find it very disrespectful that they would invite you along to it when they appear to have removed everything that makes this community what it is.Question number 1. I know you're under an NDA, but was what was shown at the presentation anymore that what you've just shown to us?Question number 2. Do you hold any hope?At any point during the presentation did the staff from MS ask you... ?

I just installed the Flight beta, and didn't know which forum to post this in as my login doesn't appear to be working at Microsoft Connect yet. Anyway, I'm trying to report a bug in the autogen boat traffic that I noticed. At startup, the autogen traffic works great, but after a few hours of game play I noticed that most of the boat traffic had disappeared. After quite a bit of flying around (it takes awhile to reach this point in the RV-7), I discovered that the boat traffic eventually collides with the wall surrounding the Hawaiian islands and gets stuck. I'm sure its probably just an issue with the AI paths not being updated to account for the addition of the wal…

I just fired up the free speech recongnition module found in all versions of Windows 7, and it is beyond amazing. It's a very serious speech recognition module that was done right. When I went into Photoshop and navigated around the program using the shortcut keys but at breakneck speed, all my mind could think about is getting my hands on the new Flight with perhaps this same whole new world of simplicity, ease of operation, and speed.Among the many things that Microsoft speech recongnition does is allow one to invoke shortcut keys and key combinations by simple stating... PRESS "key of choice or key combination of choice". Since the flight simulator by it's very natur…

Are beta testers when selected allowed to mention so, and it has begun?

I just purchased XP10, what a mistake. I can't wait for flight, after such a bad experience with an inferior sim. I don't THINK that flight will be better than XP10, I KNOW it will, even if it's just a little better than FSX. Just had to get that off my chest. after an $80 gamble :(

So Tom Allensworth, you and other folks got a sneak preview of Flight recently. And you are now bound by an NDA to say nothing, which we respect. But are you at liberty to say whether everything about Flight has been revealed to you, or whether there are details about it that are still unknown to you? Are you satisfied that you know the whole story about Flight? Or are there still questions about Flight that MS didn't provide answers to in the preview?Don't tell us what you know Tom - that would be a violation of the NDA. Just tell us how MUCH you know.
