I wonder How I missed MS's anouncement of a "integrated content market place" from their FAQ page. Well that should put to rest speculations that MS flight might put TPD out of business. I also like their emphasis on "enhanced scenery & terrain". So sue me, I love eye candy.

I was wondering why last night I suddenly inflight to KJAX I got a message in FSX -- "real wx is not available check internet connection" -- well my internet connection was just fine - so I checked FS9 real weather too -- same message. It seems that fs9 and FSX are officially in the back seat before Microsoft Flight is released.I use ASV for real weather too so its not a problem for me - but people who rely on the FSX real weather may be in for a big let down.

I can't find it mentioned anywhere else (within AVSIM), not real sure if this is the correct place to post it either (please move it if needed) and not 100% sure of the validity yet. But anyway:According to various game websites, apparently within MS's press release for "Age of Empires Online" a new MS flight sim was annouced but to be called just "Microsoft Flight" This is just announced and we will probably find out more at Gamescom gameshow which is just beginning in Cologne. I'm little concerning the "Simulator" part of the title has been dropped. Some sourceshttp://www.microsoft.com/Presspass/press/2010/aug10/08-16MSGamescomPCPR.mspxhttp://www.microsoft.com/games/fl…

If I was a developer I might be a bit worried. Then again, maybe there's no reason to be. Time will tell I guess.

I just noticed that MS completely re-worded their answer for "how does windows Live for windows factor in?" question in FAQ section. They replaced the answer per following: "LIVE introduces a new level of connectivity to virtual flight, enhancing both the social and game play experiences of the title. Content is updated virtually. You can fly solo or join an entire global flight community online" Notice their comment about virtual updating (and their emphasis on ability to fly solo). What is virtual updating anyway? Updating of navigation data bases?Frank La

Has anybody noticed this phrase in FAQ; "The Games for Windows - LIVE platform sets the stage for all your virtual flight needs..."? The key words are "stage for your flight needs". My needs? Does it make you wonder if they are setting up a shop in which they sell Flight in bits & pieces based on different needs? They may say scenery areas are sold separately (to fit your need of coarse). Or they may say "Garmin G1000" is sold separately for people who need glass cockpit.Hopefully, I am wrong and am reading too much into it and it is just a shop for current 3rd party developers to sell their stuff. But the phrasing of that sentence was odd!

http://windows8center.com/Hopefully this doesn't be the wild card in Flight's development similar to the fiasco of Vista when FSX was in development. Gearing a product to a new OS with promises of a new DirectX version can be problematic. Coupled with a projection of where hardware is going can reign havoc on a products development path and ultimately performance on end users machines. I was hoping the next version of Windows would be farther out giving sims like Flight a direct development path on an existing OS and DX version. FSX had to back track because Vista wasn't ready at the time of it's release. Hopefully we don't see the same with Flight but if trends are …

This month I bought a new system from Jetline Systems that actually allows me to max out all the settings and get FPS starting at about 37. Notice this is 4 years after the release. I've been a user since the late 80s, and I am grateful for the platform they have provided, but all I ask is that my computer works with the next release.Good luck with the development!LuisKMIA

A person going by the name "Jaggyroad Films" has posted some "inside" info about Flight."Oh man, I wish I could share with you some of the tidbits of information I'm getting from developers. I'll say this... developers should be happier with the next iteration of FS. My understanding is it is more geared towards development than ever before. Let's hope the buzz I am hearing from several developers is true."The MS Career/Talent site would seem to support the claim above by indicating that Flight will provide an SDK for third-party addon support."Help define our new partner program, including SDK pipeline and release criteria, to enable 3rd party partners to develop add-ons…
