Its really wonderful and exciting to see the enthusiasm and excitement by developers for V4. Its like a huge weight has been lifted from all the restrictions of the 4gb VAS limit and its strict managment requirements. Although they will have some work cut out for them in moving over to 64bit, this new SDK provides all kinds of tools and features that can be newly incorporated into V4 translating into new opportunities for them to market. Im excited for them too and really urges in a new era. Below is an example from 'Virtuali' from FSDT. Similar sentiments are from others. LM has really made an effort to listen to them and incorporate their wishes which goes against wh…

Hi all, I know this thread is mostly guessing as we don't have any clues other than 64bit and new lighting for Prepar3D v4. I hope its okay to speculate when the anticipation is so high. I'd be interested to know if there are any feature lists leaks that anyone is aware of. I've heard for new lighting system. I would consider this a huge plus, judging from what's possible in XP11. Otherwise, what do you think could Prepar3D v4 bring? What I'm wishing is : 1) Better shadows, without the annoying flickering. 2) Better in-game anti-aliasing for better performance (avoiding external AA) Also how much time do you think it will take for the "core" add-ons …

Have any of the beta testers here performed an apples to apples performance comparison between these two versions? I know Jordan King stated that he did not see any improvement in performance, but I have read otherwise in a few other places, etc. It is hard to determine in Rob As. video because he is locked out at 30fps @ 30hz (4k nonetheless). Any input here would be greatly appreciated.

In anticipation of the upcoming P3D v4, I would like to get ready and wipe out P3D v3 entirely, so that I can start off from a clean slate. Besides uninstalling the obvious from the control panel in Windows, I know there are various places that P3D v3 still lurks on your HD. Can someone please tell me all the locations I need to delete manually after uninstalling P3D?

Hi, Not sure if this has been mentioned before but I see the inimitable Elaine Dixon (aka Poppet) has posted a helpful announcement regarding V4: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6305&t=124599 Looks like it will be easier in future to carry out updates and return P3D to its default state. Regards, Mike

When I open my ORBX scenery application it shows both purchased version and demo version of Pacific Northwest. Should I uninstall the demo version to save space? Does it matter if both are installed?

I seem to remember that P3D is supposed to be a World simulator and not just a flight Simulator. I wonder then does V4 have any changes re Ground Vehicle physics. I know that you can make ground vehicles using Aircraft parameters but they really don't work very well. An since the oceans and lakes are real in P3D have they introduced Marine vehicle physics?

OK I wanted to get the ball rolling on this since it is clear that there is a lot of dissatisfaction with the yet to be released V4. I am guessing the we are probably looking at around the 2 quarter of 2019 so it definitely not to early to start the discussion. It will like be on a Tuesday since as far as I can remember Major point releases of P3D have always been on Tuesday. IF someone can get a hold of it Pete Dawson's Vacation Itinerary for 2019 with should be able to narrow it down to perhaps 2 or 3 possible Tuesday's in 2019. Let me start by saying it better be DX12 or else I will not be making the switch. I'll be sticking with V4 which I haven't tried yet. And …

I'm not sure if this is an appropriate venue, but has anyone heard anything from Imagine Sim regarding the P3Dv4 conversion? Needless to say, KATL and a few others are important to some of us. There's nothing on the ImagineSim site. Thanks

Have I missed something, the Official release of V4 is May 30, 2017 at 2:00pm EST but there seems to be a number of posts relating to settings, compatibility, warnings, tips etc from users of V4. Where are they getting their copy from, does it come in Academic, Professional versions like v3.4 and how much does it cost? steve

I guess it is because of the release of P3Dv4 tomorrow. The stock market is expecting huge sales of P3Dv4. Or was it because of the Saudi Arabia weapon deal signed by Trump during the weekend. What do you think?

.... Well, even if your name is not Mary, perhaps you can answer the following questions- providing you know the answer, of course. (please excuse me if sound like a newbie; but, maybe I don't have the tech knowledge that some of you see at a distance) Ok, here we go with the questions. (that song.. "Mary did you know" is now stuck in my head.) -- Will we be able to 'update/upgrade to V-4, or is this going to be a brand new sim, and we'll need to re-install everything from scratch? -- Has LM mentioned anything about the sim being able to use multiple cores, rather than single core? -- Are we going to be able to increase LOD to very high settings …

Elaines very helpful guide stated that for v4 LM recommends using Win10.. May this indicate either that DX12 is supported or is planned for a point release, or have I missed previous news about this? (very likely!)

Hard core long time FSX user here. I'm considering taking a look at P3D for a possible future move. Does it really cost $199.00? I'm looking at the licensing options and the only one that seems to fit me is the Professional license, is that what most users here have? Thnx!! Richard

I watched almost the entire broadcast last night on AirDaily x and thought it was quite interesting They had some very knowledgeable Developers speaking during the program, and after carefully listening to what they had to say, I came to these conclusions. 1 The biggest advance was moving P3D into the 64 bit world. This cured the OOM problems for anyone that was having that problem. I have never had an OOM, so that issue really had to no benefit for me. 2. There were only a few changes in the program, that went along with 64 bit, but not very many. Flight physics were untouched, UI almost the same, some rain effects, and a few others. Nothing that jumped out a…

According to JV at Orbx, the AI traffic and ground traffic have been optimized and have very little FPS / perf impact in V4. His words were 'crank it to the max' or similar. Can other V4 users confirm this observation? Thx Glenn
