  1. I'm getting an unspecified error message 0xfffffff7. It crashes during the setup Progress. It's excluded in Defender and the Firewall is off. I open it up under administrator for all users. I had FSX SE and un-installed everything except the ORBX Scenery.

New to prepar3d, just bought version 4. Does anyone know how to get the simulator to download real world weather? This was easy in FSX, but I can't find the function in P3D. thanks!

I already asked a question over at LM forums but I'll probably get answers faster here and more of them. So.. I seriously can't decide after reading about v4 on the internet if my machine is good enough. What I worry about is that I have 8GB of physical RAM and GTX 970 4GB graphics card. People are saying their RAM usage is going over these numbers and in this case if you don't have enough it will start using paging file which would result in 1 digit frame rates. I do use a lot of addons like ORBX, A2A and PMDG planes, AS16, REX,... In v3 everything worked on medium to high settings just fine. Will I make my life miserable if I switch to v4 with mentioned hardware? I know…

When loading the default scenario all views are stretched ( fish bowl effect) and in low resolution. I can clear this by loading a new aircraft, but the corrupt view returns when I switch from windowed to full screen. Thanks- Ken

I like them, it's cool that the leaves shake around when you fly a helo near them, but really I don't need them. And the coloring is weird, the colors look too pastel. I prefer the color of the original trees. I think it's good that LM made an option for them. Your thoughts? Not a perfect comparison because I had to restart the sim but it's close...

  7. I'm playing around a bit with adding scenery addon to v4 with xml-files, instead of through the scenery.cfg and now I got all addons separate in the documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder, but would there be a way to group those? As in, creating folders by publisher and put all addons form that publisher in that folder, like: Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\ORBX\[insert addon name]? I asume, Looking at the structure of v4, there would have to be an xml-file that points the P3D addon manager to the position of the add-on.xml-files, where I could edit the path.

  8. Has anyone noticed the new option in P3D V4 to export GPS data to a Windows app? My immediate thought was that this data could be used for an external moving map application. Am I understanding this option correctly? Are there any currently-available Windows apps that could accept and use this P3D GPS data for a moving map? I would love to see Google Maps made to work like this.

  9. I moved most all my P3Dv3 addon airports to my secondary drive (E:). Will the airports have to be reinstalled after I install P3D 4 or can I simply point the sim to the scenery library E: drive?

Ok... I just took two images, one in FSX:ACCEL and the other in P3Dv4. It's the exact same aircraft, same location, same season, no weather, same scenery. Do they really look like there is no improvement over FSX? Left side is FSX, right side is Prepar3D https://goo.gl/photos/omzRrqKQ2pFHM9GR8

Please, do the following ... Choose Beech King Air go to KSEA RW 34R (VC) save the flight situation as whatever you like. Close P3Dv4. Open P3Dv4 and go for your just saved situation. Check fps. (2x shift+z) Open graphics/display menu, DO NOTHING, close the menu with "ok". Watch your fps. - Im my case I got a decrease from 50 fps to 34 fps ! Very strange. This is reproducible for me. P3d runs with moderate settings (fps unlimited), no addons, no tweaks. I have no idea what's the reason for this dramatic frame rate loss, but I can't believe that it is supposed to work like that.

  12. Ladies and gentlemen, I feel compelled to discuss this topic as it affects everyone- especially those who come to these forums looking to provide sound and solid information which will benefit our simming community. And of course, to those who come looking for that information which will assist in their doubts and needs. In the past 2 weeks, I have seen at least 5 threads locked due to the constant back and fort, arguing- and sometimes insulting-by several members. Why is this happening? In particular it makes me upset as several of these posts contain valuable information.. and this especially considering P3D V-4 just rolled out. Now, we are forced to scra…

  15. This is the one thing X-Plane shines at and I will miss. But since the new P3D v4 now has updated lighting, can someone comment on it. How does it look compared to the previous P3D lighting engine? Is it anywhere close to what X-Plane has to offer, and also which add-on airports currently support P3D's updated dynamic lights? I'm assuming that all 3rd party add-on airports must update their airports to include this feature if I'm not mistaken?

I read someplace where LM is recommending Windows 10 for P3dv4 is there any real reason for me to dump Win7 64? I realize that support for Win7 is going to expire and they'll be Direct X benefits but is there any significant reason for me to upgrade now? I just run P3d on my main server and supporting applications on my client. Updating would run me about $200 for OEM system builder disks from Newegg not sure if it's worth it atm. Thoughts?

  17. Hi. Just wondering now VAS is no longer an issue, there are certain sceneries that if you look away from the terminal ( FlyTampa Amsterdam or LatinVfr Miami) and then look back at the terminal the textures are black and then start loading. This was a VAS saving technique but we don't need it anymore. Any ideas please? I remember a tweak you could add for instant texture loading maybe that might work.

  18. Does anyone know if A2A (182/172 Specifically) have updated their installers for P3D v4? Also I would like to get my RealAir lancair legacy working in P3D v4 if anyone could please explain the process. Is it fully working or there are some issues with sound? This is one of my favorite GA planes and I hope it will work 100%.

Hello All --- well, it is great that V4 is a reality and my head is still spinning. I have read much already posted and came up with a list of assumptions. Comments and feedback much appreciated. 1. P3DV4 can be installed completely separate from V3 and operated as such. 2. V4 is compatible with previous 32-bit add-ons as long as they do not modify V4 *.cfg files with non-UTF-8 characters. 3. Looks like we will be waiting for many new installers for V4. Wow, I just ordered a GTX1070+8GB vid card --- just in time Appreciate any comments ---- Thanks ---- Bob

  20. Even though multiple beta-testers (including Orbx´s CEO) have said that mouse interaction with the VC was possible using VR, that does not seem to be the case according to LM, at least not in the way we are used to with Flyinside. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6317&t=124675 Yes. VR in v4 is better than it's ever been in v2 or v3. In terms of functionality, the initial v4 offering will be similar to 3.4, but many bugs have been fixed and the experience has been refined, and polished. I can't comment on specific features, but we do plan to continue improving our native VR support. We hope to see more 3rd party plugins too. The SDK has been over…

I just purchased P3D V4 and it's my first aquintance with the software so have never downloaded anything from them before. But I was totally shocked as to the download speed I got from them. I am in Finland so I don't know if it's a time zone thing, but I downloaded the 12,1 GB file in 3 minutes. Fastest server I have ever seen!! Amazon?!

Hi all I'm about to install P3D v4 alongside FSX in Win7 where previously I've used a different Win10 installation (on the same PC) for P3D v2, keeping them separate. Do they co-habitate happily together as I'd primarily like to avoid re-downloading Orbx and use the FSX files (as I understand that process)? Or can I install P3D into Win10 (on the same PC) and still retain access to the Orbx files in the Win7 installation? Thanks in advance Jay

  25. For those of you that have yet to download, install and have a play with V4, I can report that I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance on my rig - I had built myself up for some serious exercise of that plastic card (followed by smuggling in boxes and "cleaning the computer" - code for installing new gear ) but that doesn't appear necessary as yet. I'm running an i7-4770K @4.1 Ghz, 16Gb DDR3 and 2 x 780Ti in SLI. I know it is early days and I'm not yet loaded up with Traffic, ASCA, PMDG etc (they will be coming soon enough ) and that could change things but so far, pretty impressed. I haven't got all the slides fully to the right but have certainly push…
