With V4.1 I had a couple of grips: 1. It seemed to exhibit a long frame stutter at a fixed interval of about 1 second. This is despite being able to maintain over 30fps for a smooth 30fps locked at 30hz. All the hallmarks of a long frame stutters. 2. Really blurred textures in some scenarios. Both of these issues are highly reminiscent of the bad old days with FSX So the question is despite everything else is there any performance improvement in V4.2? Has anyone made an objective comparison and measured any performance improvement. I know that DL is said to be improved but I am talking about performance where lighting setting …

Already have Active sky (for P3Dv4) and ASCA installed onto my P3Dv4.0 and have just got both Envtex and PTA - after a number of people suggested it was a good combination.................... So just about to install PTA and Envtex and was interested to know peoples advise on best way to install then (what order)/what to back up (shaders ect..)/what settings to use so I can get them all working well together? (note I also have a few Orbx Products already installed)................any help appreciated

I've worked with FSX / Prepar3D / X-Plane for a few years on and off, but I've never dealt with any aftermarket weather packages. Can someone tell me the difference between what all these weather packages do? Active Sky ASCA ENVTEX PTA Rex SkyForce 3D I've heard of people using the first four together, but don't they all do the same thing? Maybe not PTA, because it looks like it replaces the default shader engine. Is PTA the same thing as Prepar3D Tweak Assistant?

Hi everyone, I have been using P3D 4.1 for quite some time now, and I feel quite confident in terms of my flying ability etc... however there is one thing I'd like to know about regarding Active Runways. For example, Active Sky Next tells you in the "Conditions" tab for a specific airport what the "Runways in use" are there. Basically, does this refer to LANDINGS or TAKEOFFS? or possibly both? I've been under the assumption that it means both takeoff and landing. For example at EGKK (Gatwick), it says runways 26L and 26R are currently in use, so does this mean both can be used for either takeoff or landing depending on the wind? I hope I've made s…

When I upgraded to the latest version, I could never get the engines to start. I am using an actual overhead connected to the sim via Prosim737. It took me a long time to figure out the combinations to get it to work. This is what I came up with that actually works. I use an Opencockpits CDU/MCP/EFIS. It feels odd flying a Boeing with a joystick and it feels really odd flying an Airbus with a yoke. I've had the PFC yoke and throttle unit for about 2 years now and it really has been one of the best investments I ever made during my 20 years of flightsimming - apart from a 55'TV. But because it was such an expensive and decisive choice of controls - in my clinical view of my flightsim world, it limited me to 'yoke only' aircraft. Hi, Perhaps understandably, very little attention is being given here to the use of G-Sync enabled monitors as most of you will have already invested in decent monitor/s that may or may not need the use of VSync, triple buffering and frame rate limiting to achieve that smooth experience while running Prepar3D. Much anxiety and, indeed, apparent frustration is evident amongst those of you who are struggling to achieve this goal, yet you could make this all go away if you would just bring yourselves to bite the bullet and make the change. Downloaded a 737 pack from Rickoooo and it has many liveries of 737 300,400,500. However they don't seem to be powerful enough. Climb power is weak, and can't get top speed past 305 knots. Had to climb at only 1400 fpm to keep from stalling. I know these are not PMDG quality, but I like them none the same. Is there a config edit that I can make to make these jets more powerful when it comes to horsepower , climb and top speed? Would appreciate your help. Stan

Hi all, I've had v4 for a month now and its worked great until yesterday. While flying over London area (actually its most of Southern England) at FL410 the sim would freeze every 20 secs for a period of 20 secs. I see the loading circle and then it comes back. Once I hit the channel its fine again. I've tried this in other built up areas such as New York and Amsterdam but its fine. I've tried moving all sliders down and reinstalling all addon scenery and resetting config as well as updating drivers. Nothing worked so far. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Hi everyone! I've been using p3d v3 for a month and I have bought a new high-end pc just for flight simulation. Unfortunately I have been quite disappointed because I have encountered many Oom crashes so far. I read many posts about this problem but still haven't been able to solve it. I am flying Aerosoft A319/A320 and using Orbx global and EU LC. There is traffic compiled by myself using some tools. Is there any suggestion? Do you need additional data? Thanks

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me. I'm getting really poor performance issues (Low FPS and huge micro stutters) in Prepar3D v4.1 with Dynamic Lighting enabled. I have tried the following things, but there are still many issues. I have tried a range of aircraft in which some struggle more than others. My system is: Intel Core i7 4770K (OC'd to 4.3 GHz) CPU, ASUS GTX 1080 Graphics Card, ASUS Z87-A Mainboard, 32 GB Corsair RAM, Samsung EVO SSD, Hisense 4K TV (40 inch). Hi folks; Wondering if I could get some advice or remedy with my P3D V4. Currently using the lasts PMDG 747 and either while in the air or the ground the system will all of the suddenly will freeze and close after probably 10 minute spinning. Only msg visible it's Prepard3D (not responding). Curiously, I had done completed 2 to 3 and some times 4 hours flights recently but this will happen at least once or twice before finally take off and landing a complete flight. Hello, I got notified that the Quest Kodiak has been updated to P3Dv4 compatibility today, which is great. Additionally, it turned out to be an upgrade for free - very nice, thank you very much for your kindness! I wanted to install it into P3Dv4.1 immediately but came to a halt when the installer showed me the message: "One or more files are write-protected. Do you want to overwrite them anyway?" Hm, not sure; which files is it trying to overwrite? I am reluctant to go on without knowing more. Could anyone give me a hint, please? Thanks and Best Regards Frank

Hi guys After flying long-haul for a few months now I‘ve noticed the following: Everytime I fly over the north-eastern part of Canada P3D crashes, this with still plenty of free VAS. When I fly from Hong Kong to Toronto for example, crossing the north-western part of Canada everything is fine. Also when I fly from Europe to Houston or Denver for example, crossing over the more southern part of Canada (Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, ...) I also get no problems. However when I fly from Europe to California, having to cross the Hudson Bay area I get a crash of P3D EVERY SINGLE TIME. I get very low frames and within 5 or 10 minutes .exe stops working. I…

Very new to P3D4 and enjoying the experience... Running on i5 through W10 and having some/a conflict within the system somewhere! I have GoFlight modules with a couple of buttons assigned to key combinations through the GF software v2.28 which covers P3D4. These have worked without issue until installing P3D4 when the buttons assigned to "Sh+Ctrl+A" and "Ctrl+Sh+K" both bring up the same text message across the screen "Clearing airspace ahead of aircraft" and do not apply the functions required. I have been through the Controls/assignments section several times but can find no reference to the "Clearing airspace" which I would dearly like to disable as…

Hi! I need info about how to make the sky darker at night time. I use TONEMAP DAY 0.290000 and TONEMAP NIGHT 0.100000

Not sure what the issue is, but when I'm at the airport at night, I see these splotchy lighting gradients on the ground. I set all my graphics settings to the max, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I'm using Prepar3D v4.1. This is the Innsbruck Airport from Orbx.

So with the upcoming version 4.2 I have a question as I have not done this before. I have a bunch of scenery installed via the addon.xml method. Researching I found this: - Instead, sceneries added with their own add-on.xml, won't be affected by the complete reinstall of the sim because, when you restart the sim for the first time, it will ASK if you want to reactivate all the sceneries installed that way, provided the add-on.xml has been placed in the suggested location, which is under Documents/Prepar3d V4 addons. Hi, I download Lorby last night. Read the manual but am lost. I want to move every scenery out of P3D main folders so come next week 4.2 (hopefully) I can upgrade free of problems. After reading the manual I did not see a way of selecting a scenery, a way to move it, and to make a xml file. Of the new location. When you install addons they sometime install effects etc into P3D folders. how does that work with Lorby? If someone could give me a step by step guild that would be fantastic and much appreciated.
