Hi all. I asked this question years ago in a truck sim forum and am interested in what flight simmers think. With the recent 4.2, airbus etc updates I found a lot of people impatient for the latest patch/update to their favourite plane/scenery. So I thought its not the flight sim platform some are interested in its just the need to have the latest updates the most expensive plane and not actually flying! For me, it is both. Been flight siming for 25+ years and am comfortable with a stable version with no CTD etc but with a study plane in good scenery. Allan Thomson

Been reading lately around the forums of folks having problems with addons after they moved from P3Dv4.1 to V4.2 I am about to take possession of a high end pc and install P3Dv4.2 software (that is IM not trying to make v3 version work in v4). Thus with a clean install of v4.2 on a new machine, can i expect to be reasonably free of some of the issues that are being reported about? Hopefully, my query makes sense...:-) Rob

I did a fresh install of P3D v4.2 and now it appears the vsync no longer works. While engaged, the fps jumps from 42 fps down to 9. I also see more stutters with more pausing. I am operating with a 4K monitor with a refresh rate of 30. With 4.1 the vsync kept the fps at 29-30 with a smooth experience. 6800K oc 4.3, SSD, 4K monitor, GTX 1080 ti

With the lack of ATP addons out there, would it possible to merge the Justflight HS748 VC with an existing exterior model of the ATP? Been searching about and was wondering if anyone knew of any V4 compatible ATP exterior models. Thanks.

I am completely stumped. I have not had P3DV4 installed for very long and only recently have started some proper flying. For some reason, after I have been flying for about 5 minutes, performance drops dramatically from a comfortable 30fps+ to a stuttering mess with frames of about 12-14. The sim effectively becomes unflyable. This is without real weather, with Windows updates, Malwarebytes, AV, Windows defender all turned off in services. I've opened Process Explorer and task manager trying to see what the culprit is, but have been unable to discover anything obvious. I'm running Windows 10. Can anyone help with this before I throw myself out of the window?! Cheers guys.

Hi, I noticed that the pictures on the product page of the 32 bit version are apparently from P3Dv4 as well. As FSX has no dynamic lights or RealLight, I was wondering how the cockpit night lighting looks? Also does the FSX version have Lotus-style exterior light effects (i.e. lights that truly illuminate the ground)?

So I had a perfectly working good install of P3D v4.1. I had it this way for about a month and then tried to overclock. I have to admit, the overclock was not stable so I reverted back to default. Now I have just upgraded to P3D v4.2 and the sim is badly broken. I just did the client install, updated FSUIPC, rebuilt the CFG and deleted the shaders. I also updated FSL A320 and ran the update for the PMDG 747. Here are my symptoms. - Menu bar items sometimes cannot be selected. If they are, items like FSUIPC sometimes don't open. Click and nothing happens. - In the aircraft menu items (from the FMC) don't work. Can't close doors on A320, PDMG fuel weights…

Hello, everyone! In my view we, simmers, have now come to a point where some definite decisions about our future simming must be made. I see there are folks flying on so many platforms like FS9, FSX SP2 DX9, FSX SP2 DX10 (myself), FSX SE DX9, FSX SE DX10, P3Dv3, P3Dv4, XP10, XP11, AeroFly, FSW, ... I have been on FSX SP2 for many years now. First with DX9 and later DX10 with Steve's Fixer (to avoid OOM). Hi All I was installing P3Dv4 onto my system-Win10 I put it on one of my hard discs-F I note that it has installed on F OK but I notice that it installed without showing the folders Program Files,Lockheed Martin,Prepar3D. It shows as F: only -then lists files Autogen,Ecosystem etc-Is this a proper Install? Should I have used the C Drive? xxd09

The picture Next to me shows the stairs going to the wrong door. Also,the catering vehicles go nuts! Any solutions?

I took a look at the event viewer and it was due to WX radar. I recently purchased this product and believe I have the latest version. Reflying the same plane and flight plan, but I did not turn 'on' WX radar ran just fine. Also, I previously ran OK in P3DV4.1 without issues. Thought this was worth a thread in itself, a scenery add-on that upgrades all the out of date default nav data from 2006 that is still part of FSX and P3D. It is derived from Jeppeson data and sits alongside the more usual navigraph data that we are all used to, being released in the same airac cycles. It aligns all airways, intersections, navaids and approaches to current data, for default and addon airports, so you should never find a mismatch between your aircraft navdata and the runways/approaches being offered. Jay Bloomfield and I are using it with VoxATC, with some success so far. I have no stake in this addon, apart from being a user. Worth a look…

This morning I did a clean installation of the full P3D V4.2. On my first attempt to fly - I got major stutters - it was the FSlabs A320 - so I tried a stock plane and the programme loads the plane OK - but every 3 seconds - I get a box on the screen as P3D is trying to load air, land and sea traffic - really weird. Anyone got any ideas? - or it is back to V4.1 for me

Hi! I have just upgraded to v4.2 with Client, Content and Scenery installation. The process was rather smooth. However, I found that whenever I start the first flight with either default or addon aircraft, some issue occurred. That is, if I push the thrust from idle position ( default F22 or PMDG 777/747), there was electric shut down causing engine shut down( F22) or transient electric failure which returned back to normal later by itself. (PMDG 777/747) However, if I start a second flight or plane, everything was normal. Any fix or reason? Thanks!

I just upgraded to v4.2 and had to update the FSlabs a320 but my first attempt resulted with no sounds and black screens and no animations and a warning about cmdhost.exe, I uninstalled and reinstalled realizing I forgot SpotLights v2.0.0.7, I installed the A320 and restarted my computer, then proceeded to install spotlights and now the sim won't even start. I've tried uninstalling both and now the sim still won't start. Will I need to do a full reinstall of P3D and all the addons? Thanks. Hi Folks, A nice treat - had a problem with double bridges in San Diego - reported the problem to Latin VFR since I use their KSAN v2 - wasn't their bridges as they didn't include any in their KSAN package - one was Default the other ORBX Vector - Ricardo decided to resolve it once and for all - nice new Coronado Bridge was sent out in the new update this week - traffic too... Hi, Will there be a Maddog Pro, with alternate FMS and performance computer?

Would it be possible for any of the beta testers to tell us how performance compares to PMDG NG/777 A simple load at the same airport under the same setting will quickly show is FPS are better-same-lower It would be very helpful if someone could report. The amount of FPS is no so interesting as the comparison of better-same-lower. Since most flight simmers have the NG it would be nice to know what we can expect. If it is lower the percentage would be helpful. Also are the FPS consistent like the PMDG's or fluctuate like the FSL A320. Thank you.

OK, I know this may be a real minor issue, but to me it would keep me going grayer than necessary. When P3D v2.0 first came out I lost the ability to use my mouse in VC. I later got it back after figuring out that you have to make sure that Aero is working. But now we are in V2.1, I can have the mouse but I cant find the right configuration to what I want. I want to be able to press the center button on my mouse and look around in VC, or press the mouse center and go back to normal pointer with no movement in the cockpit. THis is what kind of end state I am shooting for. I have FSUIPC up and running. I have Saitek Pro everything to include an extra throttle q…

Is there a major upside to making this latest incremental jump? I know there are the usual hiccups that go with these upgrades.
