Today OrbX release their first airport scenery for new zealand south island, Milford Sound. This is a small GA airport with a tricky approach and wonderful surroundings. Please note that Orbx have also released an update for south island (patch 2) very recently. To get the most out of this scenery you should install this patch first. The patch is over 1 gig and updates many airports on the south island. The following description is copied from the flightsim store where the scenery is available: The Eighth Wonder of the World. Orbx's first NZ airport is in one of New Zealand's most famous tourist destinations. Milford Sound is a fjord in the south west of New Z…

I just came acrross Process Lasso, its sort of like a 3rd party schedular, to help overcome the scheduling short comings of windows. For example its the very first tool i have seen that does what i do in my software. When a process like FSX hugging up all resources, it reduces FSx priority, not increase it. Since i saw it do that, then i started having a play with its other 1 million make it or break it if you can options. Used to use PriAffinity for years, second day with Process Lasso, i removed PriAffinity. Its a swiss army knife for those trying to get the most out of thier PC Resources. Its got a very usefull graph called System Responsiveness, so far…

SweetFX is a display enhancer with ENB characteristics plus sharpening and other capabilities. It works well in my copy of FSX. However, P3D crashes while loading if it is turned on. Even with no options selected P3D will not load. I was wondering if anyone has been able to use this program with P3D?

Considering that the more info we can get on using P3d the better - flightsim.com has opened a P3D forum. The rules are pretty much the same as here at Avsim regarding EULA discussion etc. Hopefully it will develop into another good source for info on P3D. Vic

Used to use DBS terrain map for FSX, now that i only have P3D installed, cant find taws system that will work with p3d. The 2 dbs taws products, terrainmmap and taws, wount work in p3d, they just crash the sim soon as you hit PWR. Been looking at Reality XP GNS 530x430 Unlimited and GNS 430 and 530 But so far google shows reality xp products dont work in P3d either, so cant use the taws there. Anybody use reality xp taws to compare with dbs studio taws. Most importantly good taws for p3d , where

The Extended is a great looking aircraft with apparently great functionality. The MCDU is really two: the Captains is the one for flight planning, fuel and weight, etc. For me the first glitch, and remember it may be just me, is an inability to Save a route even though I think I have painstakingly followed the manual. The right hand setting has all the setup details, chocks etc, you name it, and is really good. The second is I have no throttles, my CH quadrant has buttons that work according to their previous settings but none of the throttle or other levers function. I am not the only one with this issue, there are many, but I think I may have to try the (to m…

Hi guys, I have been sticking exclusively with P3D for sometime now because of much smoother performance and much better performance at night. However, I'm having trouble finding a stable configuration. I have used the Estonia migration tool to install a bunch of add-ons. My perhaps the biggest problem is frequent crashes, typically caused by api.dll. This usually happens when flying the NGX with fs2crew. If I fly with virtual FSX enabled I get crashes quite often, if I fly native p3d (disable virtual FSX) it seems quite stable. On the other hand, fs2crew stops working from time to time in this mode. My preference would be to fly with the executable renamed to FSX…

As reported on the front page this morning: [imgleft]http://static.avsim.net/forum/uploads/62c6ab8e56ab122439a9de6687a84c6e.gif[/imgleft]Rob Randazzo of PMDG, in response to AVSIM's query regarding their position on their End User License Agreements (EULAs) for their products and use within Lockheed's P3D, provided AVSIM the following statement; "PMDG’s position is that the EULA is an industry established process designed to clearly define any limitations of a customer’s rights to use the license that they have purchased. The limitations placed inside PMDG’s EULAs are reached after careful review with our corporate counsel and take into consideration such things as: …

Hi Guys, Has anyone else been having this problem. It seems to be a ProAtc problem because the defult ATC works without a problem. Have tried the default plans in ProAtc and ones I made myself, but 9 out of 10 freeze P3D at some stage during the flight, (but not ProAtc). There seems to be no patten when the freezing happens. I think some people are having the same problem in FSX, but it is not a wide spread issue with this program. Myself and a few others have reported this to the devs at ProAtc, but no solution has been posted on their forum yet. I have P3D and ProATC running with admin rights, on Win 7 64, and use the defaul B737 FSX aircraft. Any ideas would be…

Hi, Never been able to get Bufferpools=0 working on my friends computer until tonight. ------------ His setup ------------ I7- 980 @ 3.4GHz, 8 Gig Ram, 2-GTX 480 video boards (running three monitors surround / 5760x1200) He is running numerous (airports, aircraft, weather) addons. Up until tonight, I have never been able to get his system to work with the Bufferpools=0 tweak. His computer would always crash as soon as he started his descent into the arrival airport, as soon as the arrival airport loaded into memory, his system would freeze/crash. Well tonight I decided to try and use Hyper Threading, so far that has enabled him to take advantage of the B/P=0…

While everyone else is all wrapped up in the release of England, I'm thrilled to see the announcement of Felts Field in Spokane. I've long used Felts in its default (well, Orbx default) form as a hub for exploring much of NRM and CRM, so I'm juiced to have such a well-located field for CRM, NRM exploration done in detail. I have a feeling this will become my Bowerman for this region. Good size for all of my planes, good selection of instrument approaches, plenty of scenic flying possibilities close to hand and, oh yeah, plenty of character as well. What a great surprise announcement! Scott Edit: And, of course, if you have either Carenado's JetProp or R…

I guess I should have reworded the question better . From ORBX's site , they are working hard at updating the dual installers to allow direct installation into P3D . From what I've read , they are mostly done and The Flightsim Store (FSS) is working to get them into our Account section at FSS . Unfortunately our Account section there do not list them(P3d installers) as being done . I did see a list at ORBX stating which installers were completed but it was dated in October . Just wondering if there was anything current floating around somewhere . The airports I am referring to are some of the older ones ( 2011 ) . Anything that came out in 2012 already has the dual direct…

I've installed the patch to upgrade KSEA to FSX with the ORBX PNW scenery, I've followed the instructions with the exception of renaming the ORBX files to prevent them from being displayed. Instead I've placed them in folders within thier respective scenecery since this method has always been effective for me. However the aiport appears to be on two levels, with the runways being on berms and the North end of the runways disappearing into a berm. KSEA is situated on a plateau so I believe that what I'm seeing is that parts of the airport are just below the level of the plataeu. Also only the two original runways are visible, the newest runway 16R/34L doesn't show. The ins…

I don't know, would it work? Some small, little nice airports with ample surroundings to model, a very unique and interesting variety of ground textures and a central location, to work in coordination with FSDT HA. I think it would be great. Any opinions, additions or suggestions?

Checking release updates at the official site this morning I noticed some new screenshots by Ian Emms for Goodwood. Now I know that FTX are very proud of their new 3D grass but........ If you look at photographs of the real airport, as I suspected, Goodwood seems to have a set of fully functioning mowers! Indeed I can't imagine many UK fields as busy as Goodwood tolerating the "Nature Garden" look that they seem to have gone for. Grass seeds don't half bugger up air intake filters! I never visited a UK field in my years flying that wasn't well mowed. Seems also reading through this that the delay is down to a copyright issue with some sign…

I bought Prepar3D a while ago when the Academic license was just released. I thought, I could just buy it now and update to 2.0 when it's released. It said that all updates will be free when I purchased Prepar3d, so I don't see why I should repurchase the product when 2.0 is released. Still I see people on the web thinking it will be a completely new version. Why do they think that if all updates are free?

A few weeks ago, before Orbx England was released, I posted (a few times) that I doubted if I would like the addon because imho England looks utterly boring with nothing but those small fields everywhere... I said things like England looking like default FSX landclass scenery in real life already so how could an Orbx rendition of that country be interesting? Well... as some of you already anticipated... I was utterly wrong. I really love to fly above Orbx England, which has taken the throne from PNW, which was my favorite Orbx addon up to now. Together with OpusFSX real weather flying above England is a treat and utterly awesome instead of utterly boring. (That Englis…
