Unfortunately, I don't think that is going to happen until news of the version 2.0 release. If Lockheed ever decides to do anything normal about the license issue and just have a consumer version, then there will be a lot of buzz as many third parties will port over. December 1, 201213 yr It might be worth noting that after appearing to be a non-starter with P3D, Flight1 are now openly advertising some product as "P3D Compatible". Cheers, Mac

Arent many developers porting over now? Im seeing quite a few supporting it. LM is obviously encouraging it as well. which is kind of odd given the license but thats another discussioin in other threads. Its defintly more stable and smooth. I only use p3d now. December 1, 201213 yr I think eventually everyone will get over the licensing issue. It's all just paranoia. Personally I would be going to P3D as soon as the Airbus X Extended is released but the VA I fly for uses an ACARS system that has been coded in such a way that it won't work with P3D as they are afraid of the possible legal ramifications. If it weren't for that I would see no reason to stick with the outdated and under-optimized platform that is FSX. Just got an OOM flying into London today...may heaven grant it that P3D V2.0 is 64bit *prays fervently*.
December 1, 201213 yr I believe that many pages of questions were posted simply because MS fsx did not work correctly ,pages of questions about ctd ,tweaks to make it run faster/better etc ?,are simply not needed it just works ,so all the clever guys who gained status within the flight Sim world due to there ability to try fine tuning fsx are out of business maybe that is why some firms /poeple seem to be against it ,now people spend there time learning to fly at reasonable frame rates without having to start again due to a system crash etc,IE the perfect flight sim
December 1, 201213 yr We are the ones busy flying! Quite agree, works well out of the box. looking forward to it being even better, but just enjoy using it with little need for moaning.

Silence is more a reflection of a good product than a small audience. I am VERY happy with ORBX scenery products in P3D. I use a General Aviation approach to P3D. Quite satisfied. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
December 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member I think P3D is so compatible with FSX most, like myself, just cruise the FSX forums unless it is really P3D related. Of course it doesn't hurt if all us P3D fans help promote the advantages of this platform. We just have to help nudge 'em along a little. Your right, I think v2.0 next year will be a big deciding factor for many to take the plunge. I was gonna wait... glad I didn't! But I would not mind an update of v1.5 to fix a few nagging issues. December 1, 201213 yr I use both FSX and P3D. To me there are no advantages with P3D over FSX. In fact, there are some quirks in P3D that I find annoying, such as the lack of a start page and flight planning interface, ATC window not working properly in full screen mode (and being very obtrusive (bright), especally for night flying), lack of real world weather, lack of good default aircraft (not even a good Lockheed in there!) and no real upgrade of the default scenery apart from Norfolk and a few Florida airports. As it stands I use P3D as a second FSX. And no, I don't want to spend time porting over FSX addons or install additional programs. I'd like it all in one ready made package. I've done more tweaking and fiddeling in FS98, 2000, 2002, 2004 and FSX to keep me interested in doing it all over again in P3D. I applaud LMs effort to keep the ESP engine alive, but they are clearly developing it to suit users that don't use the flight sim platform they way I do (for fun), which is sad, but then again, it is such an outdated platform that I'd rather see a whole new sim with a modern graphics engine. December 2, 201213 yr Hi Simmerhead. I can see your point of view, but I really have found P3D a better sim to date. It runs better than FSX ever did for me. But I know that is contentious and I acknowledge that you are far more computer-competent than I am, so leave it as ok for me. As to the slowness of the forum, it is not too hard to realise why. With registry cheats like FSXtoP3D and others, I have just about all FSX scenery, aircraft, and utility add-ons installed and functioning well. Some care with DLL entries is needed, but there is always someone somewhere in flightsim world who has done it first. Once any installation and cross-over questions are resolved, I simply go to the add-on forum for further assistance, advice and answers. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
December 2, 201213 yr Just made comment in FSX forum that P3D forum now needs to be placed in a more prominent position in the huge list of sub forums here in AVSIM. Maybe its time for the forums to be listed in order of the number of visitors. I assume Most folks come here for FSx forum, but even that is often hard to find sometimes. I bet there are forums here that get 1 visitor a month, but adding to the clutter of forums on avsim. In short i think P3D forum quietness is partly as result of its location way down the list of avsim forums. Sometimes takes me minutes to scroll up/downup to find it. And so many unused, lacking traffic forums could be removed to reduce the clutter.
