It was always my 'tradition' when making a clean break from my current sim to the new, to do one last 'commemorative' flight in the old sim. It would usually be my most often flown route in an old fav aircraft. I'd go getting all fuzzy and emotional and remembered all the different 'experiences' I'd had over the years. This time, my final flight was from Darrington Muni down to and around the Olympic National Park, WA then north with a touch and go at Orcus Is and then returning to Concrete Muni. I had spent lots of time at those airports over the years but hadn't flown much sim time in months. It was a good way to say bye. FSX is now off my system as I await…

You actually can have this (military) professional "plus" option for 20 US per month instead of dishing out 2300 US Could be worth a tour once in a while for kicks, should get your BANG for your 20 bucks sorta Would prob be wise to install two installs on two seperate OS. One for regular use one for occasional military visits.

So when this new technology comes out from Prepar3d, what am I supposed to do ? Rob the next bank, tell my wife want to get her pregnant again, need a new computer, do some jumping jacks, or sit at my desk, and say "ITS ABOUT TIME, A NEW SIM IN TOWN." \What are your thoughts on opening day??? Man, this new sim knocks the hell out of fsx, Now I will have 2 sims, what are your thougths comparing the 2 towards performance and graphics. Is the investment worth it, when I have a couple of thousand dollars worth on addons, excluding PMDG, what do I do now. Now after digesting some of this stuff that I just bought, and I am completely new with this technology, do…

Yes, ok, I know, I will able to check this out myself coming monday but it's fun talking about all this so hence this topic anyway. ^_^ In FSX I use one tweak: Bufferpools at zero. This tweak makes a world of difference on my PC. Enabling it makes it seem I put 1000 dollars of new hardware in my rig. I have read that none of the FSX tweaks seem to work in P3D 2.0. Now I am wondering how many beta testers were also using the BP tweak in FSX. The thing is: if they didn't use that tweak the difference between their FSX and P3D may seem great but I fear the difference between MY FSX with the BP-tweak and P3D may be not so great… or even disappointing. If you know wha…

I have a GTX260 1.7 Mb video card. Best I can tell it will not run DX11. So that automatically counts me out because my card will not run P3D v2 according to the specs. Darn shame, but I'm not buying a new card nor upgrading my computer at this time.

I have full and quite redundant FSX and P3D installations. The installations fill nearly 700GB of my 1TB drive. Storage is cheap, but maintaining two installations is a pain. I think that P3D v2 will signal the beginning of the end of my flight simulation dualism. Other than leaving behind the PMDG 737 and 777 (which I rarely use), I can no longer see any reason to keep my FSX installation current. Once I have P3D v2 up and running smoothly with all of my favorite add-ons installed, I plan to retire my FSX and P3D v1.x installations and run one well maintained P3D v2 setup. Any thoughts? Scott

Hi all As I've been travelling, I haven't really looked at the pricing options for P3Dv2 in much detail Keen to know what everyone is going for and why?

In the time since the beta testers were freed from the nondisclosure agreement and the runup to the release, all the talk seems to be about buffer pools and vsync and and autogen and all that other other esoteric stuff we FSX-ers have come to know and love. However, and maybe I've just missed it, but no one has flat out said what their frame rates have been, how fluid the flying or simply how pretty it looks. Again, did I just miss the thread?

I've been watching with some interest the almost feverish anticipation for P3Dv2's release on Monday. It definitely seems to have replaced the PMDG 777 as "The Next Big Thing" that everyone is talking about. I'm especially interested to see how some people are pretty much ready to sell their flight simming soul to P3Dv2 before they've even got it installed and running. From what I gather P3Dv2 has moved the graphics engine to DX11 which offloads some of the computing load to the GPU and leverages the potential power of more modern GPUs and multi core CPUs much better than FSX does. The screenshots show new lighting with dynamic shadows. We've got volumetric fog and so…

Hey y'all, I want to personally thank all the forum moderators who keep this section of the forums in check at all times. I know if I had to manage this forum especially last week during P3Dv2 announcement, I would have called quits or gone crazy. I really do respect the forum moderators for maintaining quality control on the forums. This forum will be extremely active Monday onwards and even though it is a volunteer job, I thank you guys for all the hard work that you do to keep things cool. On a funny note: I would love to know from the forum moderators on how you all are able to control your patience when dealing with unruly posters on massive site like a…

LOL, I was just looking at this thread and find it interesting that after Tom Stepped in and stopped all the trash talk and flamers it has now been nearly 10 hours with out even one entry. That may be an indicator as to how many folks visit this site just to cause problems.

In regards to P3D prior to Mondays release this is what I have so far. Please feel free to correct, actually I prefer that you would! 1. GEX is slated to be releasing their version for P3D in March of '14. 2. Active Sky Next when it is released will be P3D ready. 3. FSGenesis meshes are compatible with P3D. 4. UT2 can be used with P3D but is not supported by Flight1 to be used as such. Now, the fuzzy points. With the new version coming out of P3D Monday, apparently it isn't just your usual run of the mill update. Perhaps the following questions or points are mute until 2.0 comes out, perhaps not. I haven't used P3D att all so can't say how much different the ne…

Does anyone know if LM has addressed the autogen restriction in FSX that causes compatibility issues between some addon sceneries? For example France VFR's regional sceneries are not autogen- compatible with ORBX FTX Global, and the issue is the way the autogen file structure is designed in FSX. Perhaps LM has seen this problem and decided to fix it?

Would you please be able to recommend addons that are slated to work with 2.0 (I'm a P3D newbie, jumping ship straight from FSX). Terrain textures - I've read FTX Global should have a 2.0 installer soon - Will I have to wait until each of the full-fat ORBX regions have an installer? Landclass - Waiting for FTX Vector Mesh - ? Sky / Cloud textures - Will REX be compatible with the new water engine? Weather - OPUS? AI traffic - ?

I wrote a question for LM about the fact that both airspace and ground movements are completely free and that nobody will call you even if your 172 is invading a runway or entering a final approach path at JFK. I remember a sim from a long time ago, must have been the Flight Unlimited series, where they had a clear notion of what you can and what you can't do in the air. I found it much more immersive. Now, since 4 people have already voted against that question, I'd like to ask: is everyone satisfied with current FSX/P3D ATC system? Even more so when LM are (correctly) stressing the "simulation scenario" side. Am I the only one to think that it needs some major r…

I have never used this program. Three questions for people that have. 1. Does fsuipc work with it? I have my hardware set up through it. 2. Does the LINDA program work in it? 3. Finally, can you fly online with Vatsim and if so does fsinn work in it? Thank you. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk

All, I'll take the plunge and open up the discussion around the dreaded topic of blurry textures. Given the move to put more power on the video card and leverage multi-cores, Prepar3D handling loading textures faster without blurry textures? Tim

Morning, 1. Assuming the servers support the rush of buyers, this will be a 30GB download? If that is the case, is there a good download manager that the forum recommends? Even better, a free one? 2. If I simply want to ensure that I have the same options, capabilities, and features I presently enjoy in FSX, do I need to purchase the Professional Version of Prepar3D? I typically use complex aircraft under realistic conditons, weather and ATC environments. This is NOT a EULA question, but a capabilities-based question. If this is not a permissible quesiton, please just ignore. I searched the forums but surprisingly couldnt find a respectable answer. Thank…
