In the interest of doing something different and showing how well autogen can go on top of photoscenery... Pennsylvania! Don't see much FSX scenery from this area but it's chock full of goodness. Putting my little Orbx + PS on hold and get far away to this State simply because no one ever gives it the attention it needs and northwest Pacific Coast is just getting boring... Some early shots of this little project after finalizing main tree line placement. Haven't decided on the exact type of trees yet, but these pretty good, and I'm more interested in how the trees blend in with the terrain than I am with proper species. Custom placed buildings …

I had this installed on my last computer with Megascenery X Socal and was getting VAS OOMs. This time I left it off and, with sliders full right, my VAS is staying around 1.5 Gig. That's a huge chunk of VAS! I'm wondering if there's a way to pare it down some...take some of their stuff off and still be able to keep some of the goodies like KBUR, KSBP, KLAX, maybe part of downtown. Any thoughts?

Hi Simmers A few days ago I got an email from MSE promoting that Italy is available for purchase. I am interested in getting it. Then yesterday I got another email from them regarding specials and new products. Italy was shown at a price of 16.99 maybe an intro special? I tried to buy it but the price comes up at 39.95 in the cart so no go! My question is did anyone here receive a coupon to use for this? I didn't. Could anyone please check your email to verify my findings. I sent them an email query yesterday but did not receive any response. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have all the US MSE 2.0 states, most of the Ultra Res Cities and all of their European countries, and now I am trying to get them installed into P3Dv2.4. The problem I am having is that once I get the first MSE 2.0 installed into the Scenery Library the next MSE 2.0 won't install because it says I have another scenery title that exist with the same name. Here is my situation: I am using 5 WD My Passport external HD, each HD holds different MSE 2.0 titles. HDs 1-3 holds all the US states broken up into certain areas, HD 4 holds all my Ultra Res Cities, and HD 5 holds all my European countries. My P3D computer has several HDs, the operating system is…

Warning: this thread is a bit long! I have enjoyed many beautiful scenery packages from MSE in the past, all oft hem covering the US. So far I have bought two European packages from them. The first one, Switzerland, I deleted the day after I had bought it, because the color variations between the different tiles were at least for me not tolerable. Being a German, I was excited, when they recently brought out photoreal scenery for my home country. And when they offered me a discount for being a customer with them, I bought all three parts. It took me three days to download them. Yesterday was my first trip and it took me straight to my home town in Westfalia. I was a f…

Got an e-mail saying that MegaScenery Denver was out.. living in that area I bought it as well as noting that a P3D v2 installed is available through a separate link. Downloaded 31 .zip files, installed them (which by default installs them to FSX, which I have but rarely use). Noted that the .bgl files were installed into several different folders, one was "Denver", the other "Ultra Resolution Denver". launched the P3D installer (*which just makes entries into the P3D v2 scenery.cfg, I think), and found that my P3D v2.4 goes to CTD if launching at a US airport. Launched P3D at YMML- Melbourne and found it would run OK, and could then access the scenery manager in…

These are a few shots of an area around Concrete and Darrington airports in the ORBX PNX region. The scenery here is 60cm resolution and transitions very well with ORBX scenery. I'm planning on offering this for free once completed. The advantage as you can see is no more landclass generic tiles in and around the excellent ORBX airports. At least in this way, once can fly from Darrington to Concrete with real ground scenery. Essentially the concept is like expanding the ORBX airports to a much much larger area. ORBX uses photoreal textures of very high resolution for their ground textures. I'll be using 60cm ground, and will add some custom autogen. Tree are by…

Hi, Although I have problems with other sceneries England, Belgium, Netherland, etc. I will address in more details the problem I have with the Germany North scenery since this is the scenery that is in worse shape. Around Neubrandenburg there are three areas that have different texture, color, resolution, etc. adjacent to each other and meet at one common point. I don´t think is my wrong doing because I have used the FSX for several years, have followed the installations instructions very closely and reloaded the scenery several time by hand (one by one) and also as a group using their Installer Manager utility software. There are other areas within the same sce…

I have never bought a photoscenery product, but now I am strongly considering it especially for large cities that give quite a framerate hit due to the autogen (even though I only have it set to "normal", my system is not as powerful as most here seem to have). Portland and Seattle are some of the biggest culprits in ORBX PNW. I noticed MegaSceneryEarth has products for both cities. Has anybody had success overlaying these over ORBX regional products? The MSE products are on sale for a short time so I'd like to know if they'd work before actually buying. Thanks.

Is there a way to make this work? I know MSE disables autogen somehow, is there a config file switch that can turn it back on? A 3rd party product that will enable it? I finally purchased my first photoreal scenery for my home state of Minnesota to allow for accurate VFR navigation, but at altitudes below a couple thousand AGL it just feels wrong without 3d objects, especially smaller airports. Downtown Minneapolis is stock FSX which at least has some buildings (not nearly all of even the most relevant skyscrapers, let alone outlying buildings) and there are a few landmarks like the MOA but the whole place just seems barren to me.

http://imgur.com/a2xmvCj After finishing Switzerland in 60 cm, ( http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426287-now-this-is-switzerland <---- link to my Swiss project), I'm starting on the area around Bozeman, Montana. I should be uploading this scenery for general consumption. If you have ORBX Bozeman, the two can work together perfectly, and using real photoscenery under Orbx airports look much better IMHO. (By copying certain files from the Orbx airport folders to your photoscenery folder youi can combine the two). The above photo is just a comparison of 1 meter versus 60cm. If you like flying 100-200 feet off the turf you can plainly see the advantage of better r…

i also have MSE 2 New Hampshire and between the two, i find the NH scenery to be significantly better. The Swiss looks great if you are looking out about 10-20 miles.....but undeneath the plane is quite blurry. Not so with the NH scenery. I was flying at about 11,000 ft on both planes. Am using the recommended slider positions. On the Swiss i went from Sion to the lake and thenall the way around the shore of the lake. On the NH i was in the northern hills and mountains. So..... i find the NH to be more immersive for me. Maybe the source data for NH is better? Will continue to explore the Swiss scenery some more tonight.

Hello ! I've downloaded California and Arizona photoreal sceneries by BlueSky Sceneries. But for the moment my sceneries (due to their size) are installed on my hdd and fsx on my ssd. And I plan on buying a SSD to install more addons and sceneries. On my HDD the scenery looks a little blurry (see the picture) and my question is, this problem is because of the hdd and if yes, the ssd will correct it or not ? Thanks in advance. https://imgur.com/w3i7pYg

Nuvecta's Treeline series is just what photo scenery needs for those areas not covered by airports, it simply gives you back the autogen trees. At the price they are asking for, this type of scenery would appeal to someone who lives in a certain geographical region, lets say for example Colorado and they likely all-ready purchased photo scenery for that region. The problem is what about people like me who want the entire USA covered, at those prices they are asking for well the words "you must be joking" spring to mind. Like other's have commentated on other websites they are Too pricey. I know they made an initial investment by paying for commercial grade data and the to…

Hi, photo scenery experts. I have only one photo scenery package. Switzerland from MSE and I have enjoyed but for some issues. The colour differences between tiles are sometimes very big and Airport runways and building don't seem to overlay the Runways and building in the photos. Apart from those 2 issues I enjoy using the scenery. I only use it for Flying gliders since ASN can now provide what is to me quite compelling orographic lifting. Ridge running involves flight that is often only a couple of hundred feet above the tree tops. I thought I read a post recently about an addon that adds trees to Photoscenery. Anyone know anything about that? How would that work? Per…

I am a little confused about something. I own 80% of the states and I picked up DFW Ultra Res since that is my home town but I noticed on PC Aviator in the information sections that both products are sampled from 50CM resolution. So if the state is 50CM and the Ultra Res is 50CM why would I get the city products if I already own the state? Is it a different kind of 50cm? Don't get me wrong, I am impressed with the DFW city. I believe it is sharper at lower altitudes than the NE Texas State scenery I just want some clarification before I drop a bunch more money on more Ultra Res city products. Can someone from PC Aviator or MSE chime in on what advantages the …

Today Intel released 3 new CPUs in the Haswell-E 5000 series. They are all relevant for us photo scenery lovers as they all have either 6 or 8 Haswell cores. The cheapest $390 on newegg i7 5820K will offer us six hyperthreaded unlocked cores (only $50 more that the quad core i7 4790K.) The $590 i7 5930K only difference to the 5820K is that it has a slightly higher stock speed and 40 instead of 28 PCIe lanes so offers no benefit in an overclocked FSX rig. The top of the line $1050 i7 5960X will give you eight hyperthreaded cores that will improve texture loading even further albeit for a massive price tag. All of the above CPU's seems to overclock to ar…

I have purchased several of the Ultra-Res cities in the past, which have been very good. However with my recent purchase of Dallas UR I am concerned with the color blending outside of the KDFW airport area. Going toward Dallas and surrounding areas almost all the textures are different shade of brown/tan. It is like this area has had a bad drought.. no green trees shrubs etc. Is this normal in this area? The photos shown at PCA appeared to show considrablly more green or green tint around the city and other places. I am wondering if this is normal or is something missing. At KDFW (FSDT) the textures are just fine. Thanks for any comments.
