	I notice that sometimes P3D runways are either at a slightly different angle to the photo scenery depiction or even completely translated. Gemini LLM suggested a global approach to addressing this could be to substitute transparent runway textures so that you don't see them when they render in sim and the underlying photo scenery shows through. Despite much experimenting I haven't been able to get this to work and the alternative of adjusting individual airports using ADE doesn't appeal.
</p>

<p>
	My question is has anybody succeeded in applying this approach and if so would you shed light on how you achieved it.

	For those who are into flying in Mexico, a new developer, VOR MEXICO STUDIOS, has released full coverage of (1) the Baja Peninsula (N&amp;S), (2) the Valle de Mexico (covering the Mexico City area) and (3) the entire Yucatan Peninsula (Yucatan, Quintana Roo and Campeche). Excellent pricing! See <a href="https://vormexicostudios.com/" rel="external nofollow">https://vormexicostudios.com/</a> for more information. Works great with P3D 5.x.

<p>
	Hello everyone!
</p>

<p>
	I am working on a photo scenery for Africa for 2.5 years now.<br>
	Sounds megalomaniac? It is.<br>
	In the meantime, the project is already well progressed, and many people told me to do some advertising for it.
</p>

<p>
	First of all the little story behind the project:<br>
	After I bought the FSL bus, I noticed how bad the performance of the FSL bus was together with ORBX Germany.<br>
	So I was searching for a solution, and I found it in Photosceneries.<br>
	Since I didn't want to fly without autogen, I used my experience from my geography studies and programmed Python scripts based on arcpy.<br>
	These are able to generate high-precision autogen for the sim based on OSM and Corine data sets, as well as water data, elevation data, population data, etc. and with the help of ScenProc.<br>
	After Germany was finished, I created Belgium.<br>
	Although the data for these countries was very good, I started writing Python scripts in parallel, which can also create autogen based on Landsat and Sentinel data, in regions where OSM data is hardly available - like Africa.<br>
	And so, since Africa is a dark spot in the sim, I started to create african countries about 1 year ago.<br>
	It took again more than 6 months, until my scripts - and the results - were good enough to post the first pictures.
</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage" alt="2019-6-7_12-39-2-511y7krc.jpg" src="https://www.avsim.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" data-src="https://abload.de/img/2019-6-7_12-39-2-511y7krc.jpg"></p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage" alt="2019-6-7_12-40-34-324hfj30.jpg" src="https://www.avsim.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" data-src="https://abload.de/img/2019-6-7_12-40-34-324hfj30.jpg"></p>

<p>
	And yes, what can I say, the feedback was excellent!<br>
	And while I'm still improving my scripts piece by piece, I've been releasing a country every now and then since half a year.<br>
	At the moment approx. 30 % Africas are covered.
</p>

<p>
	Here's a small list of the features I've put a lot of effort on:<br>
	- Good photo scenery with 2 m/px without strong visible color transitions and without many clouds<br>
	- Accurate Water- (based on OSM) and Blendmasks<br>
	- Color adjustments so that desert areas are not overexposed<br>
	- Accurate autogen vegetation (based on vegetation classifications and land cover data), spatial resolution less than 10 m<br>
	- Accurate autogen buildings (method introduced with Senegal), placement based on OSM and high resolution land cover data<br>
	- Small file size (I expect to get whole Africa in less than 700 GB)<br>
	- No performance impacts
</p>

<p>
	But I think I've written enough for now, so some pictures:

	I’ve just bought a bunch of the Megascenery states on sale as the temptation to see my house in the sim (Wisconsin) was too strong (and it HAS been fun!)
</p>

<p>
	But it seems that my local KSBM is now not aligned with the ortho scenery nor are other default fields...I need to extend my default airport’s runway etc. probably in ADE?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In the meantime, don’t the default P3Dv4 airports have default grass textures within the airport boundary to disguise the fact they don’t match with the orthos?
</p>

<p>
	Does Megascenery Earth or Nuvecta autogen make the landclass/default grass texture disappear?
</p>

<p>
	On a related note, I can use ADE..what is the best way to align the default airports exactly with their orthoscenery base?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks,

<p>
	Hello fellow FSX Simmers,
</p>

<p>
	I've seen many times on this and other forums that I should un-tick the areas of photo-scenery that I'm not using, as all scenery is loaded and I can improve loading times if I'm only using scenery in the area around which I'm flying.
</p>

<p>
	Well, I've just tried a little experiment, loading a flight within the UK, but with all my Megascenery for the US (16 states) enabled and then dis-abled.
</p>

<p>
	Guess what? Exactly the same loading time (120secs) for each condition!
</p>

<p>
	So, have I been mis-led all these years, or was it not a valid test?
</p>

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I have a strange problem after installing Megascenery Earth V3. What happens is that stock FSX airfield buildings repeatedly disappear then re-appear as I get closer to the airfield on a final approach. It seems to be "height" sensitive - so it does not happen if I overfly an uncontrolled airfield at 2,000 ft AGL to check the windsock before going into the pattern for landing. But it will always then happen when descending on final approach as I get closer to the ground. The buildings will even do this when I am merely taxiing around at the airfield. It can also be easily reproduced by going into spot view on the ground at the airfield and raising the camera perspective a little above aircraft height. At a certain height, the buildings completely disappear and then re-appear when I lower the elevation perspective once again. This problem occurs with all aircraft - stock or otherwise - and having tried dozens of different settings, nothing whatsoever changes this behaviour (including terrain mesh complexity as I thought it might have something to do with elevation relative to the ground). It obviously does not occur with the stock FSX terrain - it only happens when I am using the photoscenery.
</p>

<p>
	I also tried it with and without the photo alignment "fix" files and it makes no difference. It seems that as soon as the photoscenery is there, this happens regardless. My guess is that it probably would not happen if I were to install a third party airfield "over" the photoscenery, but I am not using any third party airfields in any of the scenery areas I bought.
</p>

<p>
	Any ideas at all please? <span class="ipsEmoji">😊</span>
</p>

<p>
	Thanks

	The photo scenery is not as sharp as the freeware photo scenery packages that I've downloaded. Plus, Nuvecta AG trees &amp; houses are only scattered and not widespread like on my other freeware packages.

<p>
	I know that settings in FSX-SE, like its predecessors at their respective stages of hardware offerings, is a juggling and balancing act, a crusade of compromise.  So I have two questions, really...
</p>

<p>
	How much extra Oomph of CPU is required to run some of the photo real packages I have seen floating around?  Fly Away Simulations has a few of, mostly, the Western U.S. and while they run in the several dozen GBs of file sizes, how much of a drain is that going to be on 'somewhere near the top' of gaming hardware that I have currently?  My rig is certainly not bleeding edge technology, but its not a slouch, either, and I am getting (with tweaks to NVI) a solid 30 fps except at busy airports where things dip into the low 20s and sometimes a high teens.  I have frame rates locked at 1/2 in NVI, currently, and few other bells and whistles enabled.  That is the first question...
</p>

<p>
	Now, second question.  I had ORBX global installed, but recently uninstalled it thinking it drained too many resources (until I found out where other culprits lurked, and have worked them out), and now I am re-thinking of re-installing ORBX, but I hesitate as I am feeling a little gun shy.  I really like the imagery, but cringe at the thought of it being an imagined resource hog.  It really may not be, but I would like some opinions if my doubts are unfounded and paranoid.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What I have is this: Intel Core I7-8700 @ 3.2 GHz  16GB RAM  GeForce GTX 1060 3GB  Windows 10 64-bit  1TB SSD  (in a nutshell)

	I have England Scotland &amp; Wales covered thanks to Just Flight VFR Real 3D photoreal, so was wondering about giving Ireland a similar treatment (no autogen, but still, I'm OK with that). Hi, I don't know if this is the right forum, but I've had issues with a particular airport recently.
</p>

<p>
	 I create and modify sceneries and airports in FSX for personal use based on real satellite imagery and other sources such as FSET, ADE, Photoshop, Sketchup, and sometimes gmax. I recently started using Free Mesh X as well.
</p>

<p>
	Recently I discovered Norfolk Island airport (YSNF), which the main problem I'm having is that the airport elevation is 371ft. Default version is 0ft. I changed it in ADE, added a ground polygon to flatten the area I wanted up to 371ft as well but then the whole airport is at 371ft, except the photoreal surrounding area which I dont have control of.
</p>

<p>
	Another airport I worked with applied the photoreal on top of the mesh nicely so I don't know what or where Im going wrong.
</p>

<p>
	I tried turning off the mesh only, then with the photoreal, then just the photoreal, etc and all sort of combinations but none seem to be working.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!!!
</p>

<p style="color:rgb(53,60,65);font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:normal;margin-top:0px;text-align:left;text-decoration:none;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;white-space:normal;word-spacing:0px;">
	So I was making some photoreal yesterday for the small Channel islands in the UK for default P3D v4.5. When my photoreal was applied I noticed the coastlines in many places were a bit off. In other words, where the photreal ends (at some coasts) the default landclass can be seen leading down to the ocean. These are small islands so it becomes kind of apparent <span><span class="ipsEmoji">🙂</span></span>
</p>

<p style="color:rgb(53,60,65);font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:normal;text-align:left;text-decoration:none;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;white-space:normal;word-spacing:0px;">
	I assume a product like Orbx UK can solve this easily with its updated vector data, but since I dont fly in mainland UK at all and I dont need the landclass, updated airports etc that the product provide I figure I am better off with any freeware alternative that basically just fixes the Channel Islands coastlines. So my question is, does anyone know where to find this…. or if nothing else if its possible to corrrect/improve coastlines myself somehow?<br /><br />
	Thanks<br />

	I haven't seen this mentioned yet but MegaScenery just announced they will be releasing a 60cm version of MegaScenery - <a href="https://www.megasceneryearth.com/preparing-for-the-release-of-the-first-megasceneryearth-4x.html" rel="external nofollow">https://www.megasceneryearth.com/preparing-for-the-release-of-the-first-megasceneryearth-4x.html</a>.  The first release will be New Mexico and they have a couple of images at the link.  Looks pretty awesome but it will be a 210GB download for the State.  They expect every US States will take up 7TB's of hard drive space.  So, if MSFS2020 is not released on 10 October as I expect and is placed into Alpha/Beta testing for another year, I will be very selective when purchasing States here in the USA.  They will have a 1.2cm version too.

<p>
	Hi everyone,
</p>

<p>
	I've been hunting around for patches for the Horizon Gen-X Photosceneries (Vol 1-8) but can only find references to them on Tony Meredith's arm-computers.co.uk website, which appears to no longer be active.
</p>

<p>
	Could anyone point me in the direction of where I can find/download the patches from?
</p>

<p>
	Many thanks
</p>

<p>
	Phil

	Hi,<br />
	I live in 2 countries and fly FSX on 2 computers. I just have copied Utah Nevada and Arizona folders from FSX1 (where I installed the sceneries by installer) and pasted them on FSX2 and noticed that the scenery quality is very poor i.e.completely different from the one shown on FSX1<br />
	Question: Do I need to install MSE sceneries only by installer, that means copy and paste does not work?<br />
	Thanks a lot for your info and best regards<br />
	Alfred
