I have tried to set up the cockpit prior too takeoff 3 times now and I inevitably ended up messing up by turning the APU off by accident (causing a never ending alarm) and the other time (i think) turning standby power off. Stupid mistakes , but I would like to fly the route without the hour of cockpit checks before hand just to see what the route is like. I have loaded the 'takeoff' EMAM-LOWI flight, the CDU though is not setup at all. Did PMDG not included an already setup CDU to load ? thanks..

Hello folks, KNOW I'm missing something here. In the FMC set-up, I have VS call-outs enabled. However, on the PFD, left side, say NO VS. What am I missing. All the other voice callouts work fine. Thanks so much and have a blessed one. Tom

Unfortunately, due to performance limitations with my PC, I'm not able to use the virtual cockpit. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it's possible to view the Stab position in the 2D cockpit. This would be really useful for takeoff. Many thanks, Martin

Hello! I failed to run the after start checklist and forgot to connect the idg's after engine start. I took off with the apu powering both transfer busses. I also meant to turn off the apu during taxi and forgot that also. All sort of pilot error! So during climbout I turned off the apu and found myself on Battery power only. I read in the manual that if you takeoff with the apu powering the txfr busses and it then fails or is turned off, then the idg's will automatically come on line. Well this did not happen. No big deal I simply turned on the engine drive generators but I wondered why this was not modelled in the ngx. It got me asking myself "what were the deve…

Hi, I am using the 600/700 expansion pack and when using the 600 or the 700 without winglets, I get a small delay in rendering the tail section when switching from VC view to an outside view. The cabin internals (seats etc) are shortly seen before the tail section gets rendered. It does not happen when using the winglet -700 model. I remember something similar was reported before, but i could not dig up the respective thread. Any solutions to this? If no, is it on the list to be fixed for some SP? Thanks Dave

Hello, A few days ago I bought the PMDG 737-800/900 software. It's an amazing plane, but now I have a problem; sometimes whem i'm flying the FSX freezes and shuts down. I always program my route in the CDU but when it freezes I have to restart FSX and do the complete flight from the beginning again. I have been looking for hours to find how I can save my flight and load it later again at that point and complete the flight. Is there anybody that can help me please? Far too often I am following a STAR but get all kinds of messages about a descent not being possible or reachable or whatever. You would expect a STAR to be possible, right? What procedure should I follow to make a STAR possible? Slow down sooner? Descent sooner? Both? Use LVL CHG or VS or stick to VNAV...? How come some STARs are so hard to fly?

Hello NGX Pilots, I am a little bit confused about how to setup a IAN approach with the NGX. I read the FCTM part about IAN and it seems rather straight forward but on the approach I am trying I can't manage to get this working properly. I am trying to fly french airport Nantes LFRS VOR21 approach which course is slightly offset from runway heading. I checked the legs page to verify that there was a G/P embedded in the procedure and a MAxx waypoint. I wondered why the G/P is only on the last segment of the final approach as it is not what I understood from the manual. I set both NAV to VOR freq and both course to final approach course. Ok so with renewed addiction, picked up the PMDG 737NGX today. Basic system spec: Core2Duo 6600, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 9800GX2. WinXPSP3. Sad, I know. Someday...... Installed like a charm, no problems there. All .dlls activated and permitted. Anyways, I can pretty much get it running at 1280x1024 with high-res textures etc. and no FSX.CFG tweaks, paying attention to the "don't load planes over it, shut down and restart if you load a different plane," etc. advice in the intro manual. I can barely get it running at 1920x1200 (my monitor resolution, 32-bit), and invariably get graphics spikes and OOM errors if I sneeze at it when trying it at that resolution. But…

So yesterday I downloaded the new virgin Australia liverie for my ngx I used it to fly from Brisbane to Sydney, everything was all good, I was enjoying the sexy look of this new liverie, then all of a sudden when I landed at Sydney I decided to go to the wing view to notice that the engine had gone from a white color to a black color, so I decided to go right out of the plane to check out what is happening when I saw both engines gone black as well as the tail black also, I continued taxiing to the gate! Sorry for posting a new topic again, but suddenly I have a lot of questions It's about how to flare the 737. When I put thrust to idle at about 20ft above the runway and then touch down, speedbrakes go up with a delay of a few seconds and reverse thrust also needs a few seconds until it works. This eats a massive piece of runway. I think that happens because the engines need a very long time until they are on idle, but I'm not sure about this, because this would mean, I had to put thrust on idle when I am above the threshold, at 50ft, to make the speedbrakes go up immediately, which seems not correct to me... Hi, I purchased the MCP which arrived a few hours ago but dispite following the confusing instruction I seem to have only got so far with the running. When I start the MCP running I'm getting a display which is what my instruments are showing. not what I'm dailing into the MCP although when I use the Speed, Alititute and Heading knobs they do change the settings but I have to look at the screen to see what they are as the MCP readout is what the aircraft is at (hope this makes sense). Although I ran as per the manuals and the 737NGX comes up on the menu to be selected I'm not sure its working correctly as I don't have any VRInsight entry in my FSUIPC.ini file.…

Last night I was flying the 737-NGX from Elmyra Ny (KELM) to Lexington Ky (KLEX). I had a quartering Headwind from my 2:00 position at around 85 knots. The NGX was all over the place trying to follow the flight plan waypoints. I had to turn off the LNAV several times as the plane would apply so much aileron that the plane was about 50 or 60 degrees roll and I had to recover. I ended up climbing and decending a few thousand feet to find less wind. I ended up flying it on Heading Hold mode until I was decending then it appeared to be ok. Anyone seen anything like that before?

ok so i joined a va few days ago and we have to use a program called kacars to record your flight and to log it. it also records landing rates. for the va the max landing rate is 500fpm on one flight i came in way too fast and got a landing rate of 820fpm my question is would the 738 have withstud a landing like that in rw ? also what is the max landing rate for the 738 does anyone know

I'm following along with Tutorial #1, and am having trouble leveling off at my altitudes. As you can see in the screenshot, I blew right past the initial 5000 ft target, and am still climbing at a pretty good rate. The autopilot will eventually go into a descent trying to get back to my altitude, but then will pass it on the way down too. It keeps doing this with bigger oscillations until I either stall or overspeed if I don't disengage the AP and intervene. Any ideas what I might have missed? I've gone through the tutorial a few times to be sure I didn't skip a step. Thanks for any help!

Hi guys, I have an odd question. Every time I land at an airport with the NGX the default ATC always gives me the smallest parking spot it can find. I am always on some apron far away from the gates with the CRJ's and Q400s. Is there a way of tricking the ATC into thinking I'm a medium or heavy plane so it will assign me a gate?

I have a problem that I only seem to have with the PMDG 737 NGX: when I start the plane and haven't touched my toebrakes yet, I can get moving with just a litte throttle (25 to 35 or something like that). However, whenever I have used the rudder and the toebrakes and have to stand still and get moving again (for a hold on the ground but also for taxi after landing) I have to give almost full throttle and the plane won't start moving before I hit something like 70! This means I quite often hear that beep during taxi that my throttle is opened too far... What setting should I look at to remedy this? Hi all... I have recently purchased the NGX 737 and am enjoying things so far. Of course..like everyone else , trying to eek out the best performance out of it is a priority. I am getting anything from 16 to 25 fps in the VC and 35 plus in 2D. I have a 4 year old i7 920 and stock 2.67Mhz with a GTS 250. I cannot overclock due to a locked BIOS. I read that disabling DX10 may improve FPS rates. When I attempt to do this however, the 737 will load but the VC will be missing the MFD's / and most of the rest of the interior. 2D is fine though . Any idea why this would be the case ? and does turning off DX10 actually make much of a difference performance wise ? …

Hey there, I got a serious problem with my PMDG 737NGX, after I have reinstalled my entire operating system and fsx+sp2. The 737 causes a massive lag on my scenery quality, when I fly her all my scenery gets brown, the clouds get pixelled, the water texture change to just blue and everything is lagging extremely, the cockpit textures get slightly blurry and sometime totally blurry which makes it impossible to read what is written in the cockpit. This happens for example with 0 AI traffic at a FSX standard airport (Oslo, ENGM). I'm finally trying to do that and I'm trying to put my route in the FMC and... THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS!
