I have been a Cockpit builder for several years now and like many, I have tried to mimic the Boeing 737-800. I use other software for now but there are several features and systems not functioning properly. I bought the PMDG NGX as one of the first airplane I bought for FSX and quickly realized that it was incredibly advanced. Everything from flight characteristics, engine, hydraulics modeling. I've always loved PMDG and been impressed with what they managed to accomplish. Ever since iFly anonserad their home cockpit builder version, rumors spread that PMDG will release a cockpit builder version. But it has been very quiet about this. I have tried to interpret wha…

Sometimes a STAR will have an altitude constraint which requires an early descent and subsequent level portion. In order to fly level for a time and ignore the geometric descent calculated by the FMC, the FCOM states that a new TOD can be calculated by entering the aircraft's current altitude on the CRZ page. For some reason, I can't get this to work. Senario: Let's say the STAR has restriction of FL150 at waypoint A. and 2000ft at Waypoint B. After reaching FL150 and passing waypoint A, rather than descend at 300fpm to waypoing B, you would like to maintain FL150 and re-commence the descent for an idle profile to waypoing B. When entering 150 as a new cruise …

Hi, I have always been accustomed to the MD-80 systems as I fly them for a living. While flying the 737NG on long flights I take the time to catch up on subtle differences between the two. Either system or operational wise. One of these is the auto throttle retard system. On the Mad Dog, the throttles retard at 50'. Does not matter if you're doing a full coupled ILS or a visual approach with no active VHF signals tuned, and/or no GPS/NAV/FMC input. But I see from the 737 that it auto retards at 27' ONLY if you are executing an autoland. In other words, if I approach an airport in HDG SEL, VERT SPD, I will not get retard functionality. The A/T will try to maintai…

I am using FS2Crew and disabled V1 speeds as per the documentation. That being said, ever since I started using it, I no longer hear 2500 and 1000 call outs, but only 500 and minimums (also no 50, 40, etc). What is wrong?

The B-737 Gatwick-Amsterdam tutorial explains the flap retraction ( for a normal flap 5 takeoff ) as follows: Passing the "1" marker on the PFD speed tape, select flaps up.What confuses me is that there is another marker "UP" at 200 knots. Does this mean that at the marker "1" flaps to be retracted to position 1 and at marker "UP" to position 0 ? See attached screen shot. NB: I like to do things right Thanks Hubert Werni

Hi all, I have a procedural question pertaining to doing a ILS approach with with a VOR/NDB transition located at the airport. When you're approaching the VOR/NDB, you then fly the requisite "tear-drop downwind" and make a turn to intercept the glide-slope and localizer. What is the standard procedure for flying such an approach when flying the tear-drop leg requires a turn of greater than 90 degrees? Will the plane just manage the sharp turn? Or is there another way to do the approach (and if so, what FMC setup is required?) Thank you, Sam Kharey

Since I am planning to do some Ryanair flights soon with my NGX, I was wondering whether you guys would be able to help me out with both the flight deck config options the RYR airframes have (mcp, wings level or hdg sel. Etc.) Additionally, to configure topcat properly, I was wondering what the weights are that the FR738's use (DOW, MTOW, MLW, ZFW, max payload). Could someone provide me with these, please? I'll promise to take enough fuel with me and to call unfit to fly when I am sick! Thanks

I just had a weird flight with my 737-800. It was a flight from EBBR to LEBL. At FL360 the NGX suddenly started losing speed. It fell from 260 to 210, MPC showed BUFFET ALERT and the plane started descending rapidly. I disconnected the A/P and A/T and floored it. After a brief struggle I managed to get the plane leveled and the speed climbed up a bit. I engaged A/T, but when I tried to engage A/P, it wouldn't start. There were no failures present. Also, it was almost unflyable by hand, almost like the plane is caught in a microburst. My hardware setup (X52PRO) is working flawlessly. I tried to download new weather in FSX since sometimes it helps resolve these types of pro…

In a majority of the screen shots I see a center display unit showing three engines in a side by side view. However in my 737NGX setup, I see a different display. Examining the FCOM manual these appear to be features, however in examining the FMC setup menus and reading the PMDG 737 Introduction manual I do not see where I can make this change. I have attached a screen shot from the FCOM manual and a screen shot of my center display in the cockpit. Does anyone know how to make this change?

Hi I am really trying to be cool here, but what can one do. I purchased a new computer a few months ago: Sabertooth z77 Core I7 2700k GTX680 OCZ VTX4-25sat-128G (os wINDOWS 7 INSTALLED) OCZ VTX4-25sat-256G (FSX Istalled here) Gskill F3-14900cl9D-8GBXL WD2002FAEX 2TB HD I purchased PMDG737ngx and installed it. I have been trying to get through Tutorial 2 for about a week. I have tried it five or maybe six times and EVERY time FSX crashes. This crash usually happens at cruise alt. The last time I was looking through the HUD and I mouse clicked on the arm to make it fold and X crashed. The other crashes seemed to occur without me doing anything in the…

Hey guys, I'm still pretty new to the NGX and I'm having an issue with the engine animations. Whenever I load the NGX for flight by clicking the "load" button in the free flight menu and selecting a flight, the engines don't look right. The fanblades are not there, but the engines still operate normally. I have tried restarting the sim, but I'm not having any luck. Whenever loading for a freeflight without going through the "load" menu, everything works fine. Any ideas? I appreciate the help!

Hi guys, I got 3 displays - a main one on which I have PMDG NGX VC, a second one on which I intend to have PFD and ND and a third one where I will have CDU. I can pop-up each of these items and drag them out on other screens, but I am not happy to do it every time I load NGX. :( I know that in panels.cfg it is possible to configure them panels but I am novice to this and not sure how to do it - set the width and height of a panel and offset it to another screen. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

I've tried turning down the master volume to 20 in the FMS setup and it has no effect... in fact setting 100 or 20 yields no difference for sounds. Have I messed something up in my settings? I can hardly hear the controller online over the "wind" noise.

I've started a virtual airline in FSPassengers, called MavAir. I was hoping I could commission someone to create a livery for my 737-700 with winglets. The painter would have complete creative control! I'd do it myself, but I am not the least be competent with photoshop or the like.... Thanks

I noticed when I load the 737 and choose "engines running" option from the menu in the FMC, the HUD is missing the speed tape, altitude and the compass. If I load any other panel state the HUD is fine. It is 100% repeatable for me. Can some one check if they choose "engine running", do you notice the same. Paul

Ok. I'm going to look like a complete noob here but I have a very annoying beeping in the cockpit. Sounds like morse code and repeats every 10 seconds or so. It's just started, which is weird, and I guess it's a signal from something. What have I pressed by accident and how do I get rid of it! Many thanks! JJ
