Hi all. Forgive me if these questions are stupid, but I seemed to realize that something has been missing as of late. Actually, I think it's been missing for a while now that I think about it..... The sound of the trim wheel during operation doesn't seem to exist anymore. Either manual editing the trim, or when the A/P is flying the plane. I can see the trim moving/adjusting, I just can't hear that signature sound it makes. I have the trim mapped to a button on my Saitek Pro Flight Yoke. It also doesn't seem to really whip around like I remember it doing when I first got the NGX. It's just a slow, constant roll. This is both manual and A/P. Also (and t…

I just seen a company SOP where the pilots use 800 AGL for Accelaration altitude and 3000 AGL for CLB Thrust. Odd but everything is for a reason, can anyone state why?

Hello! I fly the B737NGX, (ASNext, EFASS, iVap, EZDOK). Recently I purchased 3 TVs 32"(full HD) and through NVidia Surround I enjoy flying in VC (Palit Nvidia GTX780 3GB Jetstream) I also have extra 3 monitors, 2 touchscreens and one simple monitor, with the intention of using them to a second card ( Palit GTX 760 4GB Jetstream) for undocking some panels and gauges (FMC, Overhead Panel, PFD, MFD etc). Apart from the fact that I haven't find the way to make all screens work correctly, I faced a very important problem. When I press shift+1 a black window appears at the bottom 1/3 of the main screen. shift+2 nothing happens. And t…

Been meaning to ask this for a while. Why does the cockpit brighten up (day or night) when the "Taxi" light is turned on? If it is reflection, then the Landing lights should really light up the cockpit, but don't.

Hello, Recently I have been on youtube and watched some real boeing 737 take-off and land and all that. I see them use the chronometer ALOT. As soon as they start the engines they start the chronometer, when they take-off, when they land. I was wondering why they use the chronometer so much. If any of you know when and what the chronometer is used for (Ex: Chronometer starts after engine start up so the engines have time to get ready for take. IDK) I would like to use the clock instead of it being decoration. Thanks, Jack Roberts

I'm look for some tips and techniques on how to manage a CDO at LPPT arrival STAR. Once i select RWY 03 and the IMBOM5K STAR from the FMS DB. Is there anything i should do on my part, for this type of approach at the start of the CDO or is it basically all managed from the FMS in VNAV and LNAV? I'm using the 737 NGX and always looking at new ways to improve myself on this piece of kit. I appreciate any help from pilots or NGX users, thanks alot. https://www.dropbox.com/s/68twrxu0yboeit4/Photo%2028-01-2015%2020%2026%2016.png?dl=0

Hey, 2 main problems here, just a normal departure out of EGKK on LAM4M, once I am around 1100ft I engage CMD a, the airplane starts a climb of 6500 ft/min while my initial alt. is 4000ft. I switch off the A/P and take over with my yoke to compensate this amazing climb. Once level, only cmd B engages. I tried switching off both F/D's and then turn cmd a on again but no luck:( I tried not to compensate with my yoke, but then it breaks through my 4.000ft initial so: 1. Why can I only engage CMD B? Did I broke CMD A? 2. Where does this rate of climb come from? thanks in advance EDIT: Checked my failures: "FCC_A INOP" Any ideas?

In just the last few weeks or so I am no longer able to complete a flight on VATSIM without the SIM freezing mid-flight. I am bringing this up here because I almost exclusively fly the NGX and I know there are some very smart folks here in this community. The only recent addition to my FSX installation is the A2A C182T. My rig is an HP Z800 (dual quad core) with 16GB RAM and a GTX 780 NVidia card. I have very little addon scenery installed so I don't suspect VAS issues at all. And, I should point out, I can fly on the Pilot Edge network for hours with no issues. The "freeze" almost always happens well into the flight, usually after reaching cruise. All aircraft motion…

Hello, I am kinda new to the very cool pmdg 737 ngx and I can do just about everything but autoland. Just before top of decent I would program my radios and my HUDS up display on the center pedestal. I would enter in the elevation, length, and select the ARMIII. After that I would capture the localizer select APP then select CMDB. The aircraft flares like it's supposed to, but then that's it. In videos I have seen the spoilers retract and the reverse trust comes up, when I do it I would usually do it manually and I'm pretty sure that's not right. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. Thanks, Xplosion

Hello folks, a question for the VNAV people. Let's not look at the final segment which isn't really important here and also not to scale. The first case on the left is rather easy, say there is a fix with a fixed altitude, VNAV will then calculate a descent so as to reach that very point from the calculated T/D with idle thrust. Nothing spectacular so far. For the second case let's assume there is another altitude constraint before the last fix at a considerable distance so that the segment in between would be quite shallow, altitude loss wise. Actually the system as I know it will calculate the path as depicted, fly level after the first constraint and add a…

Hi, I noticed that my failure settings doesnt seem to save between flights. I have set the failures to random with 1 failure every 10 hour. when i start fsx the next time, the failure settings are back to service based failures... is it supposed to be like that? Im also pretty certain that the service hours resets every time i start fsx as well... Thanks for the help /Niklas Eriksson

Most of my flights are short & so fuel is in the 10, 000 lb range. The usual initial altitude from ATC is 5,000 ft. With this light aircraft I use climb 2, but initiating the autopilot at about 1,000 ft results in a climb of 4 to 5 thousand fpm & a speed drop to stalling point. Is this realistic, or do I have to fly manually to 5,000 ft, or is there a way to limit the climb prior to take off? I have tried setting a climb of say 1,500 fpm in the vertical speed window, but pressing autopilot switches this off. Tonymerry

I almost always arrive too high for the final approach... I follow the descent path, but almost always have to use speed brakes, sometimes even lower the gears well before my destiny in order to slow down and descend faster. I'm using NavDataPro database. Thanks, Teo Halfen

Hello, this is a real poser for me. When I'm on takeoff I hear two different male voices saying V1. One voice on rotate and one voice on V2. Here's what I did to troubleshoot it. On the EGPWS page of the CDU, pages 8/11 & 11/11 I can deselect callouts and then I get the PMDG voice. But it's odd the way it behaves, I have to do this several times before it will work correctly. I tried it with page 8/11 on and 11/11 off. Page 8/11/ off and page 11/11 on, and both on and both off. What I have been doing is loading the PMDG tutorial flight at the end of the runway and aborting the takeoff. I must have aborted several dozen T/O's testing this. It does th…

Hi All Could somebody please confirm wheather the yoke and Stabiliser rest in a pitch down position, cold and dark, and gradually self centre with increased ground speed. Is this realistic (I am aware that some G/A, if not most, do)? This is how my default msffb2 and fsforce react ? Cheers Ivan Ivan

Guys, Have any of you modified your controller settings? I have Saitek Proflight yoke and additional throttle quadrant. I applaud PMDG on this amazing aircraft but have always been curious how any aircrafts flight model can be deemed accurate when there's so many different controllers and settings within each. I have zero deadzones and sensitivities are set on full but last night the 738 was banking like an F16 which doesnt seem right :( Any advice guys? Chris Ibbotson

Hi everyone, I am under the assumption that the NGX will automatically save whatever changes you make to the aircraft for a particular livery. I spent 20 minutes configuring a Qantas airplane only to have had nothing save when I went back later to fly it. I read about this in the introduction .pdf and still have no clue how to save a specific aircraft configuration? If anyone can help me I'd be very appreciative. Thank you

Hi, I currently made "the Step" from FS9, to FSX. (yes it took a while). I'm currently setting things up and getting ready to fly. My main aircraft will be the NGX, with CH Yoke and Throttle Quad, FSUIPC. After hours of tweaking, and not getting the reverse thrust to work with the "below detent" position of the throttles, I decided to assign reverse thrust to a separate lever. That works too, -when on the ground. Obviously, the throttle must be idle in order to apply reverse thrust, however, for some reason the throttle of the NGX "creeps" up to about 42% N1, whenever I try to put it in idle before, during, and just after landing. It takes a good …

I have just found out what my combined birthday and xmas present is. A fixed based 737-800 flight sim experience. But what can you do in 30 minutes. I guess it would make sense to fly circuits, to get a real feel of the controls? You only have so much time, to make the experiences benifical and enjoyable. I am hoping to fly a U-turn SID (which turns immediately down wind after dep) and then try and engage L NAV and CMD after a while. Then cancal the SID vector the back onto the ILS. Maybe just hand fly the ILS and land or do another curcuit. Do you think desktop experience of the PMDG, will help me. I imagine the controls minght feel a lot more different to …

Well, it took me a month or so but I'm really getting the hang of this aircraft. I used to overhaul and go on test flights with these planes in real life with a major airline here in KATL. So I'm very impressed with the level of detail and how the systems interrelate to each other. I am an avionics tech so I know the cockpit very well but I never had to actually program the FMC like the pilots do so I'm still learning that part but your tutorials are outstanding. I just wanted to say I'm very satisfied with the NGX and will soon be buying the 777. I also heard from a friend that you plan on releasing a new 74? If so I'll buy that too as I am a very satisfied cust…
