Helle there, few days ago i changed my sim, from FSX to FSX Steam edition, then I am going to reinstall all software includint the PMDG. Actually I have the version : PMDG_737_8900_NGX_SP1d, and I succefully installed it, but looking at the operation center I noticed that there is an updated available fomr the version STEAM. When planning a flight into St Maarten TNCM from San Juan TJSJ I wanted to practice hand flying a DME arc. In the FMC there is VOR X, Y and Z. I Googled and found this:- Z, X, Y can be added to any approach to differentiate multiple approaches of the same type (VOR, GPS, etc) to a single runway. This is done so approaches are not confused. This is very important when it comes to differing approaches, ie only circling minimums or only straight in, different MDAs or even different missed approach procedures. Greetings, So, I am feeling pretty comfortable with flying the 737 following the tutorials and other guides except for the descending segment. (I love manual landing with the HGS. I rarely use the ILS anymore) I am still having trouble with descent. I am OK (speed and flight path follows the guidance) until I drop under 18k. Then the plan speeds up and calls for "more drag". It compensates by switching into VNV Speed mode, which levels the plane but I am then way over the flight path and need to drop altitude. I find one trick by increasing the speed via LVL CHANGE, which helps somewhat.. but only until I get into the 10K area, where I need to drop under 250k. …

I bought the PMDG 737 NGX for Prepar3d last week and I cannot activate the base package from the menu. It comes back with a "ERROR: Cannot connect to the activation server. Check your internet connection" after putting the activation code from the email. My internet connection is fine - I can clearly connect and make a post on this forum. I checked my firewall settings, tried turning it off, and it didn't do anything. Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated, thanks. Donovan Patrick

Hi folks Although I feel I am making progress with the FMC, I have a number of VNAV questions that I am unsure about:- 1) When should I receive the 'Reset MCP' altitude warning message? I am at my cruise level i.e FL300 and just before TOD I receive the 'Reset MCP altitude' warning message. How far before TOD should I see that message? 2) The a/c has descended to meet an altitude restriction in the FMC. If there is a subsequent altitude restriction at a waypoint further on in the route I assume I should receive a 'Reset MCP altitude' warning message again? 3) I am still unsure what the different font sizes mean on the ND (FMC). Hi all, I recall previously struggling to find a happy medium for the CH Products Throttle Quadrant to work with NGX but I did get it right to a point that I was happy with it. The reverse detent worked to a point and I assigned a button on the quadrant to take reverse all the way (F2). At the idle detent, I was on idle and the levers moved forward from there to max nicely in relation the CH Products levers. They also moved back into reverse to a point from where holding a button took them all the way. I could then come back to idle by moving the throttles back into the detent. I flew the PMDG NGX all the time in FSX. I upgraded to Prepar3d some time ago and just a few minutes ago I shelled out another sum of money for the NGX to fly in Prepar3d, I think this bird is worth every penny and have no hesitations on paying again. Can't wait!

When i receive my new system i plan to network the main aircraft software with various utilities. Is it possible to network using one computer and two monitors or do i have to use two computer systems and two monitors? Clive Alexander

Hi! This great forum answered my question a few days ago by fine simmers. But I've got another one, as I'm still a rookie at the PMDG. I'm flying from EKCH to ENVA, and on decent, the FMC tells me that after waypoint GIGNI which have the designated altitude of FL384, I need to be at 10000A at VEVOD. Thats the waypoint right after GIGNI. The following waypoints are at alt: 7000A and 6000A and then after 6000A it goes to 11086. The FMC haven't said anything about it, and it must therefore be ok, but it doesn't make any sense in my head. How can this be? thank you in advance ! Christian Jensen - AKA The Rookie Pilot

I've recently acquired this magnificent simulation and have been having a blast following the tutorial and creating some of my own flights using the tutorial steps. I will eventually do a soup-to-nuts Cold & Dark flight but I need to get more experience with flying this bird. I don't want to just start out on the active runway with everything running, but I don't want to do a Cold & Dark every time either.I noticed that there are "NGX Short" and "NGX Long" panel states stored in the FMC, but the documentation just mentions them in passing. Hi guys, At the outset, let me apologize for this lengthy post. I am describing a scenario where I feel there is a bug in the system logic on the NGX compared to the real aircraft. I was doing a raw data VOR approach the other day using V/S for descent from the FAF. Prior to reaching the FAF, the aircraft was correctly configured viz., approx 2NM from FAF, Gear Down, F15, Speed brake armed. The DDA was set on the MCP as I was doing a CANPA (no intermediate level off) to minima. FMA was annunciating MCP SPD, VOR/LOC and ALT HOLD as it should and v/s was armed in white which is correct. I have had the NGX for a while, but have only recently been able to build a system to handle her. At this point, It has become the NGX (not FSX running the NGX) I just can't think of flying anything else, but my matrix, my construct is lacking. I use several programs to prepare for flight. . . Simbrief, for a wonderful dispatch with fuel numbers dead on, and time as well, as long as the suggested CI is used. FSRealWX for winds and other weather. FS Flight Keeper as a log book. and of course, FSUIPC (though unregistered) The problem I have is three different winds, and none of which actually match up to what I'm seeing aloft. [sOLVED] Mistakenly moved the Prepar3d folder to a different folder after the installation completed. Using the Repair function in the P3D installer, it put key files to the original folder, which was the issue. I moved back all my files to the original folder, and the PMDG installer now detects P3D. Hello Everyone I will soon be getting a new computer system with specifications to handle the 737NGX. My specs will be Windows 7 64bit FSX i5 processor, ( is an i5 processor sufficient or i7 desirable?) 8GB ram GTX 750 Graphics Card (2gb) At the moment I use Level D B767 using Windows 7 and FS9. I am very happy with Level D B767 and FS9 but wish to try something new I have watched many tutorial flights on YOUTUBE using the 737NGX. Hey guys ! I have been learning the PMDG for some time now, and just figured out how to use charts to find my SID and STARS. But the desired SID doesn't show on the FMC. I'm flying from EKCH in Copenhagen to ENZV in Stavanger Norway. My route is: (SID) MIKSI P990 AAL L621 ZOL (STAR). The SID that I have found is called MIKS1E and leads to my MIKSI waypoint. But the SID does not appear on the FMC. Is there something I have misunderstood in my learning of the PMDG? I have read that you might have to download them manually, but the links people have put up just links me to navigraph.com homepage. The Trike is recommended for initial start up on FSX to run the PMDG 737NG. Is this the case for the Steam edition as well? Dan Rice

Hello Everyone, I have a question with speed tape indications. I use to fly X-Plane EADT 737 Project. The plane was ok but just didn't quite go far enough. Here is a difference I notice on speed tape X-Plane, EADT 737 Projcect, speed tape went to zero. PMDG goes to 40, not below! Now taxi speed is, correct me if I'm wrong, under 20 mph How do I tell in the PMDG if I'm going over speed while taxing?? I really enjoy the PMDG and the fact that everything is so precise. I think we all enjoy doing a sim as accurate as possible. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Glen Woodman

HI there, I am new on this forum, i wish all of you lots of flights. I have followed the, user PMDG 737 NGX manual from the box, it goes over a flight EGKK to EHAM. (several times). When done, i want to save all the FMC data entered and therefore i go to MENU pmdg setup, state save, (i type a name) clic EXEC the FMC displays " saving panel state". When i do MENU pmdg setup state load, i don't find the saved flight plan????? Is this the right way to do ?,,,, If it was not so long to enter all the data i would not care but with the time spend to do this input this is all time i can't fly. If performing a runway intersection takeoff and with GPS enabled (GPS update didables TOGA update) will i still need to enter the RWY REMAIN. Or will the GPS account for intersection distance?
