    Well, after 4 days of heavy "manual reading" I felt ready to fly this aircraft (J41). Wow, what a nice machine!! I did the tutorial flight from beginning to end and everything went without a hitch all the way to the approach. Now I do have one question if I may. As per the tutorial, I was on autopilot and turning from TICON towards MOSBY. At that point I selected "Appr" on the FD panel (I was still in LNAV as per diections). As soon as I did, I got the orange "Cap" on the APPR Annunciator as expected, but my autopilot kicked off for some reason, and I could not re-engage it. I've not been able to find anything in the manual (so far) regarding that happening, and it's …

    Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can provide me with some friendly advice on the PMDG J41. The NGX is the first PMDG aircraft I own and as everyone else, I am blown away with it. Off the back of this purchase I'd like to add another aircraft from PMDG to my hangar. I rather like the idea of a twin turbo prop plane and am wondering what the J41 is like on frames compared to the NGX. Also, although I've seen some videos, I am interested in hearing whether the quality of the VC is anywhere close to the NGX and also any other pointers that may be of help to me. Cheers ...

Here's the thing.... at the gate with the GPU attached and providing power, I program the FMC.... then, following the correct start procedures, if I disconnect the GPU in order to push back with engines OFF.... the FMC also switches itself off. One I'm pushed back and start the engines, when I re-apply power to the avionics (I have to switch the FMC on independently), and all my previous programming is lost, and I have to start again. I've been getting round it by leaving the GPU connected and starting the engines at the gate with both avionics switches ON... but that can't be right, surely? What am I missing?

  5. So, I was doing a regional flight in my JS4100 (Elmira/Corning Regl to Washington Dulles Intl) and I take off from Elmira, land in Washington, and stop for about 30 minutes. I get back to my computer, fly back to Elmira, land, park at a gate, and start my plane up about 30 minutes later. This is where the problem comes in. I begin to taxi to runway 6 for takeoff, but I notice my plane is veering to the left. I check that my trims are centered and then check my Condition Levers, which are at the taxi position.     Is there a switch somewhere to light the tail during night flying? not found one no matter how much reading I have done. second question: there is a new airport in Durban South Africa (FALE) which is now on the fms and the old airport (FADN) no longer appears.     Has anyone done any view config edits to prevent seeing inside the airplane when going through the views? When I alternate through the views to look at the engines etc, some views enter the cabin a bit and those passengers are the only thing I dont like and the worst thing to ruin the beautiful plane. They look like when I first purchased the plane they got too close to the engines that I burnt out... And they melted a bit. They should learn not to go near the engines when it's a simmer flyin :) So just wondering what do I have to put in the config to prevent seeing them, I don't have ezdok but I'm happy to edit the configs to keep these ugly guys hidden..

  8. So I was up, goofing around on the J41, setting buttons and all, just generally trying to stay away from mountains while I tuned settings. Well, at some point, I decided it was time to head home. I was at 4500 and I tuned a VOR near the airport but, alas, I'm too low to pick up a decent signal and there's low mountains near it so, what to do... So, I clicked on the FMC. It told me I was at some bogus airport, probably nearby, but who cares...I click ENTER three times and then select D-> and that takes me to a Direct screen with a blank field.     Hi guys, First off, you have got me as a customer for life this product is my first and is just simply amazing. However, an odd problem has developed that i have no seen before and i cannot shack it (even after a full install). After take off 150 Vr get to about 500ft when we are 170knots set IAS and the autopilot does not seem to want to follow the FD. The FD rises and the plane just stays at the same high. During turns on SID's you will loss alt durning the turn not gain any. Really odd becuase i never seem to have this problem before. Just so you know, autopilot is on, VS selected, Alt arm, alt wheel set to right alt and the VS set to aroundd 1700. Oh s…

    can anyone explain how to change the various panels views. the default is the vc view from the Captains side: to get to the overhead panel, i have to press the "A" key some 7 times to arrive at the overhead panel. I know that there are various shift keys that bring up the FMC (Shift+3) and the pedastal etc but it would be great to have a quick key to access the overhead panel. me bieng lazy? thanks Mel

    Is there an engine ice command for the J41? I tried using the standard Anti-ice and Carb-Heat commands but 1) they behave differently (seem backwards too...dropping EGT when they're on,..raising it when they're off) and 2) they don't move the Elev/Engine icing switch.

  20. Just wondering if there was a patch for a J41 overspeed clacker. I've been caught by overspeed a few times...haven't heard any sound. It's in the AOM and with all the other warning sounds and voices, it seems like an important noise. I'm still pretty new to the J41, love flying it and I'll get better at watching it but it would be nice to know that a warning has my back.

  21. Hi, I am having a really odd problem. I have Satek x36 and the throttle will not idle out or got to the max. I have ran the calibration and do not have this problem on other aircraft? It is really frustrating because it means you end up taxing at 40knots! and top speed of 200! Any ideas?

  22. I have a purchased version of the J41 and I am trying to run it on FSX installed on Windows 7 64 Bit. When I go in to "Select Aircraft" and then click on OK....FSX hesitates for about 10 seconds then has a Fatal Error and Restarts. I have tried uninstalling the J41 and reinstalling.........same thing. Has anyone run into this issue or have any ideas to try. Thanks for any help. Randy
