PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)

Gentlemen, I wonder how it would be best to set up my throttle quadrant with the J41. Would it be best to have two sparate levers mapped to the power levers and the third one to control both of the condition levers together, or will this limit proper operation? Thanks,

  2. I plan to buy the J41 after the Easter break and was wondering if it included a facility to save the panel state - as with the PMDG 737NGX? Either way it won't influence my decision to purchase  . Bruce

Hello guys, Does anyone flew this little bird on icing condition using OPUS 2.90.5 or above? Casue I keep getting the right engine to flame out even with engine anti ice ON. I heard that OPUS have implemented icing, so I would like to know if its possible. Thanks

That's it. I just bought J41, but for some reason the Activation Window won't pop up...i don't get any error when trying to load the plane...but instead i can load it normally, the only Digital Gauge working its the Battery...obviously Volts will read 0 on the three different positions. So..my next move was to try to contact PMDG via their portal...again another problem arises it says than my account doesnt exist. What should i do?. Thx

Hi, Just got the J41 and I am really enjoing it! Also I'm studying the manuals and I have some things that I don't understand: 1) In the checklist (Ch4 page 10 and 31 and 32) "battery power only" and "essential bus power established" are mentioned. I guess these parts are for battery starts? I searched the forum a little and read about battery starts and they are essentialy battery on and imediately after that start engine isn't it? So how dso interpret the "battery power only" and "essential bus power established" parts? When are they skipped and when should they be done then? 2) When searching for the battery only start I also found a post about start using GPU…

Today I was flying and lost my air speed indications as well as getting both stall alarms.. I of course ignored them and continued on my flight ;-)... however as I was on final at about 2000' I disengaged my autopilot and nosedived into the ground.. Why did this happen.. If the autopilot can maintain altitude why did I loose all altitude control in manual mode?

  7. I've had the JS41 for a week and after much frustration I've found that 'direct to' with NAV engaged does not track the correct path if the first waypoint is greater than 180 deg from your initial runway heading. An example flightplan is FAPE-OKSET-UQ48-ITMAM-UQ31-GE-FACT. Departing rwy08 from FAPE and using HDG select to circle 180 deg to OKSET and then using 'direct to' and engaging NAV results in a random turn to 360 degrees away from desired track. I've tried this at different airports with the same effect. I'm surprised no-one else has discovered this yet unless it's explained somewhere in the manual (which I haven't found)?

The only time it occurs is on approach with the control tower.I have to reset the radio to the approach freq.Great time for that, when flying the approach,no time to be messing with that, right? Thanks.

Hello, I noticed that you can have a huge performance boost by lowering the EFIS refresh rates within the config. manager tool. Now I wonder what are the settings of other users here and what would be the lowest refresh rate before it becomes impracticable. Thanks and br, Ole (Are these configuration options available in the NGX as well?)

If you're using FS2Crew for the PMDG J41 (Button or Voice Control), please note we're getting set to release Version 2.0. However, we'd like a few more people to test it prior to release. So if you're running FS2Crew J41, please check this thread: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/402416-fs2crew-pmdg-j41-version-20-public-beta/ Thanks,

  11. Hi folks, as announced now the Airlink (South Africa) day-by-day plan. Same motivation as for Eastern Airways: I like to fly some legs of a given aircraft, so I tried to analyse the aircrafts' day plan. Please be aware of my notation: The flights have to be read from left to right, then (linked by a pipe '|') from right to left ('<' gives an indication), and again from left to right... The colours bind (not completely consistently) flight pairs or onward flights. The black&white version shall provide a better readable print-out (if needed). Have fun, Andreas

Well this is... Interesting. I was flying around with the J41 today and I had a full load, every seat filled. I must have looked at all the passengers tons of times over the years since I've owned the J41, but I never noticed this guy... To anyone who's familiar with the popular Valve game Team Fortress 2 will instantly recognize this face, and especially those glasses. Coincidence? Probably. I'm going crazy? Most likely. Though I'd like to believe for whomever was in charge of putting/making the skins on the passenger models, we know what their favorite class was. Has anyone else noticed this and I'm just late to the party?

Hello, I have a problem and I am not sure if it may be caused due to a bad setting I made or if I might forgot something to set something in the cockpit. There are these 'click' or 'clatter' sounds from the batteries once you switch on the batteries after cold and dark state and those should usually disappear after starting the engines and turning on the generator switches. Since today these sounds are there throughout the whole flight, until I switch of the batteries again. A few days ago I didn´t have this problem. Does anyone know what could cause this problem? I would appreciate help. Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards, Ole

  15. Hi guys. It's been a while since I've flown JS41 after spending so much in NGX. However, I've found that sensitivity of my yoke is quite horrible. I followed suggestion froms Tabs for NGX that I should leave sensitivity at about one third for NGX and it works perfectly. I can really feel the plane but when I came back to JS41 I notced that the elevators are quite a problem. Movement of just a little bit would result in a couple of hundreds of ft/min change. I was wondering, what is the right setting for flight controls sensitivity in FS and FSUIPC to get the most acurate feeling how the real bird behaves?

I've been using the PMDG Jetstream 41 for a while, and after many varying flights I thought to myself "I should write an application to that will give me the VSpeeds for varying weights" (I'm lazy :(). My first attempt was to write it in Python bot I got distracted by school and life and completely forgot about it. However recently the idea struck me again and I've been learning C# and finally wrote what I intended.I wrote a small application that will return the VSpeeds of the JS41 for a specified gross weight, elevation, and temperature (based on the data provided in the AOM). It also takes into account if you have Anti-Ice on.If you have FSX running and the PMDG JS41 a…

I'm as excited about the NGX as everyone else, but I'm also looking forward to what the next patch will include for the J41. If I remember correctly, it's to come out sometime after the NGX release. It could be a few minor upgrades, or it could be something quite substantial. I think they will probably address a couple things regarding performance, but I'm betting they upgrade the landing lights to the new standard for aircraft addons. If PMDG continues on the path they're on, my FSX may become a PMDG only fleet. :(

I fly Both the C and D model 1900 and for the life of me cannot get the AP to engage. I set my altitude for say...2000', and out of climb she just wants to keep climbing and climbing. I've short hopped a few times hoping to get up and down...a quick practice flight, only to discover I'm at 6000' and need to descend fast to get within approach to land. I'm fairly new flying, so more than likely I'm doing something wrong, but it seems like I should be able to input an altitude and the aircraft should respond in a reasonable amount of time, If it helps, I'm inputting altitude on the upper-right hand altitude dial on the main panel, then opening up the throttle panel and …

Just installed JS4100 and tried to add 3 British Liveries via the addon facility on the DVD. However, I get a message that version 1.10.000 of each Livery is already installed and the version on the DVD is version 1.0.000. To contimue I need to uninstall the version1.10.000 When I check the "Select Aircraft" there are only two liveries BAe & PDMG. The select all is checked. I have also looked at the installation in my File Manager which does not show the 3 British liveries. Can anyone suggest where I might find these livery files?? or how I can install them?? Many thanks George

  21. Hello, I just installed FSX and service packs and my PMDG Jetstream 4100 with SP1 onto a newer computer with better hardware than what I had last. This computer is Windows 7 x64, 4GB RAM, AMD Phenom II 955 3.2 GHz 8M, GeForce GTX 650 Ti. When I try flying with the Jetstream, whether done loading after pressing Fly Now in FSX or after shutting down the plane and starting it back up, avionics and all: The Primary Flight Display and Navigation Display do not show any numbers... Does anyone have any suggestions? I have messed around with various settings w/ FSX to see if I can stumble across a fix but nothing is working. I am using the UIAutomationCore.dll fix and r…

  22. Hi! Is there any possibility to change the taxi light and landing to more brighter ones? Or better, to something similar as the PMDG 737 NGX? The ones that have the J41 are too dim. don't see a thing by night in taxi.

  23. Hi all, it's looking like PMDG has no intentions of further developing the JS41, and no weather radar will be available for it after all. With that in mind, I'd like to see how hard it would be to replace the image inside the current dead screen with something more interesting. An INOP sticker for example. Does anyone know how to replace the image in the weather radar screen with a custom one created in photoshop? Thanks! Diego Elizalde
