PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)

  1. I got this plane this week as an early Christmas present to myself and I find the process to load it really annoying. To load it cold and dark I have to: 1. Load a default flight (C172) 2. Load the J41 tutorial flight 3. Move the J41 to the departure airport Are these the correct steps or am I doing something wrong?

    Well, still haven't managed to take off the JS completely from Dark & Cold because the engines flame out either right at startup or at the moment I advance the throttle to begin taxi. Until there no joy. If on the other hand I just start my simulation with engine running I have no flame out problems, just configure the rest and I can start taxiing and take off, go through cruise... But then... either earlier in the simulation I get problems with random flickering of parts of the screen (only with the JS41) or sometime during flight the simulator crashes. Apparently FSX doesn't like if you go around zooming/panning/clicking, if you do then the dreadful "waiting…

Vle = Landing Gear max speed Vx = Best angle of climb speed Vy Best rate of climb speed Vne Never Exceed speed Vmc Min Control speed Also need some performance data Climb speed Fuel flow @typical climb (gallons/hr) Fuel flow @typical taxi (gallons/hr) Descent fuel flow (I think recommended speed is 190kts) Thanks!

    Hi I have only encountered this problem after recently formatting my C: drive and reinstalling windows, FSX, and all my addons, but about 50% of the time when I switch to NAV mode, the JS41 will ignore the LNAV route and turn to 360 degrees. I have the navigation display set to LNV and can see the programmed route, but the autopilot takes no notice. Entering a direct to routing into the FMC does nothing. NAV mode still seems to work in VOR/LOC mode and all other autopilot functions work as expected, just seems like the LNAV route isn't getting through to the autopilot for some reason.     This is not a query on the PMDG product JS41, as it is, in its own nature, a simply perfect simulation jewell. My question is on the real life FD system designed for this aircraft and many others. Why not select ALT SEL automatically whenever the pilot change the altitude selector? Maybe there is a logic behind the action in this FD electronic innards, but I cannot think why not turn ALT SEL on automatically. Is there a reason for a pilot who changes the ALT to 3000 and apply a VS any other than go to 3000? Regards, Heron

    Does anyone know why panning with the hat switch when using FSUIPC instead of FSX for joystick control is slow with the J41 both in the VC and spot views? It works fine for the NGX and MD-11. Thanks.

    When I go into the FSX Aircraft fuel and payload manager to reduce the fuel for flight it always goes back to 100% when I get back in the A/C. I tried many times to be sure things were correct. It will stay at the selected load for a second then go to full tanks. The last time I selected 0 in both tanks and it stayed long enough to kill the engines then went to full tanks. Any ideas?   16. I have tried searching the forums on this problem. My J41 started a problem yesterday where I can't power up the Avionics unless the Ground Unit is attached. I am sure that when I first got this model it did. And I have read you can start the plane on the Batteries, Battery Condition is 25.5 when I load a fresh aircraft and not a saved file.   18. Hi guys, I've got a strange problem with my right propeller. After I have started up the left engine and look out the right window in order to check if the right propeller is unfeathered, the propeller is rotating although the engine is not started yet. And it can't be windmilling either, because from an outside view, the propeller does not move. Now, it's pretty hard to check the feathered/unfeathered state of a rotating propeller. Has anyone encountered this and can provide some hints on how to solve this? Thanks in advance, Stefan

    I seem to have an issue with the J4100 while using the x52 pro joystick and throttle. I really think the issue is in the x52 but wanted to see if anyone else has an issue like this. Simply put, the condition lever will return to taxi position during flight...needless to say this causes catastrophic loss of the airplane. I am running windows 7 64 bit, fsx with acceleration pack, and a new registered copy of fsuipc. This only seems to happen with the J41, not with any of the other turbo props in fsx.   22. Hello, I just bought the J-41 off the PMDG website. When i went to run the installer, I got a message about 2 seconds after i started the installer saying setup.exe error.     Climb performance? When ever I am climbing out say at 13000 to 21K , I do alright until I have to turn on de-icing then no power... even if I am at 21K and at around 220 knots... turn on anti-ice and I slow to 150knots... Is this right?
