Hey everyone,I have a weird problem with the JS41 that I'm yet to encounter on any other FSX airplane. When I use the outer knob to the tune the ADF the hundreds value changes (ie 389.0 -> 489.0) and when I use the inner knob I get the decimal values changed (ie 389.0 -> 389.1). Like so, I'm unable to change the other tenths and the units, in my example the 89. The weird thing is that this behaviour doesn't appear to be constant, sometimes I'm sucessful in completing tunning the ADF as I wich. A workaround I've found for this is to use the RMI on LNAV and chose a direct to the NDB I'd like to tune, but this isn't always practical. Thanks for your helpJoão Pires

I've had this aircraft in my Hangar for a long time since I bought it ages ago, but have only just got around to wanting to fly it.Followed the main PMDG tutorial to the letter alongside a occasional reference to a supplementary tutorial in Computer Pilot. But when I get to starting the left engine, it takes ages before the Engine Start selector switch moves to AIR, which it should do according to the CP tutorial, and when selecting Left Gen, the Gen light does not extinguish. Then after a while the left engine just shuts down. Similar scenario with the right engine. And when I try to re-start either the L or R engine, the Start Switch flicks back to AIR almost instantly.…

Unlike any other aircraft I have, the J41 is a little to loud. Can't hear ATC or my co-pilot when I'm using FS2Crew hardly. Is there a setting besides FSX where the engine sounds can be reduced a bit, just enough to hear ATC and my crew talk to me?

I'm having difficulty starting the JS4100 from PMDG. I've been cloesly following the tutorial and AOM, but I fail at each attempt at the engine start procedure.WIth fuel pumps on, fuel pressure checked, condition levers in "taxi" and power levers in "GND IDLE".START MASTER switched to LFT GND and START button pressed. The engine comes alive, the EGT spikes and begins to cool. RPM climbs to 49.5 and then the engine shuts down. START MASTER resets to air, RPM goes to zero, and EGT continues to slowly drop. The same happens if I try to start the right engine.Once I fail, I cannot start another start up. Switching the START MASTER switch, followed by START just results in the M…

While doing a quick search in this thread it seems I may have an issue others describe. But I want to make sure it's the same thing. I've created a 30 sec youtube video to illustrate my problem. The flashes appear in the first few seconds, around 11 sec, and near the end of the video. It's not lightning and it's not my lights (sometimes strobe lights appear in the VC with addon planes). System in specs and I'm running FSX Acceleration DX9 with max settings in the J41 config panel.Has PMDG addressed this issue since the release of the J41? If not what can be done about it?Video:

Hi. New the J41, just picked it up last week and loving it.Yesterday I encountered what I think was my first "emergency". Shortly after takeoff, I set the HDG ON in the AP to follow a departure procedure as requested by Vatsim ATC - standard stuff and it worked fine. Once cleared, I engaged the NAV and set the FMC to my next waypoint and everything seemed fine. I had the Yaw Dampner and the AP both ON and green, along with the NAV on, and the ALT SEL + VS to get to my cruise altitude. About 1 minute into the climb, i heard a quick beep and ALL the lights on the AP went ON - with a yellow amber light and the solid green light. All settings: NAV, HDG, IAS, VS, etc... …

Hi all,This is my first post, and I may be breaking the old say of "there is not such thing as a stupid question", but here it goes....When I take-off in the JS4100, I hear the horn (triple chime) and red getter light flashes, and config light flashes, but I can still proceed and take off without a problem. I have pushed TOCWS before increasing throttle and there are no alarms, everything is good. spoilers are armed, flaps 9, parking brakes off, gust lock removed, condition levers set to flight, elevetor trim in the middle of the green.... I am not sure what is causing the alarm... I fly with fs2crew and have taken off in the past without the alarm. The alarm and lig…

As some of you may know I live in the Caribbean, on the island of St Kitts, I'm on Summer vacation for the time being until September 5th, I'll be leaving St Kitts for St Maarten On tuesday, on Regional Airliner LIAT Dash-8, I'll be sure to record everything I feel while on the Flight. This will be my second time on The Dash-8.LIAT is also a heavy carrier of the Dash- 8 so I think (I know they still have a lot of work) PMDG should create a LIAT paint lol on their upcoming Dash-8.

Topic to sing the praises of PMDG. I've had the J41 for awhile but wasn't able to use it because of my system.I held onto it know that in the future I would build the system I wanted. Well that day has arrived and I'm glad I bought this a couple years ago.First few tries to fly this were terrible. Not on any part of the a/c. All me.Then I made the time to read completely thru the turorial flight and then sit down and use it as a guide. I was able to get off the ground with minimal problems.I reviewed my mistakes and made a minor change to my CH throttle Quad to overcome the config error on starting my takeoff roll. The second flight was hands down better than the first and…

I have been looking at the posts over on the NGX forum about the Ground Services program GSX and it looks quite interesting.I mainly fly the JS41 and NGX these days so just wondering how GSX interacts with the JS41 which has its own ground service backup already, especially the GPU function.Does anyone use GSX with the JS41 ?Glen

Every time I try to fly the American Eagle livery and try to connect the external power unit, instead I get this black under beely pod and a spy camera. What's with that, how did this come about? None of my other liveries does this, and I downloaded this livery from the PMDG website.

It must take a lot of programming I guess. It is such a first rate plane in all ways, but pretty frustrating to have to zoom in so close to read stuff in various gauges. Any chance a few choice 2D popups might come in a SP some day? I wouldn't want a full 2D panel for sure, just would love it if when you clicked a gauge it would expand like pretty much all other nice 3rd party aircraft not only from PMDG but others. It's just a matter of practicality. I feel this is the only thing that keeps this plane from being a 10 out of 10.Thanks!Noel

FolksI ws minding my own business, trying to get Origin Pacific's ZK-JSN to come out as Origin NNNN, instead of Zulu-Kilo-minus-Juliet-Sierra (yes, it was saying minus and not putting the november on the end, and I switched livery mid-flight. The external view came back with an FLIR under the nose (aft of the nose wheel bay) and an external radome a little further after. Any idea what happened there? The curve in the radome and the screws holding it on all fit with the fuselage profile. I went back, selected another livery, and swapped back again to JSN, but it was gone. Am I going mad?CheersMike DrydenPS - In my quest to solve, I saw links to EVP, so all sorted. No…

I've just installed Windows Vista via Boot Camp on my 27" iMac and am running the JS4100 in FSX. At a resolution of 2560 x 1440 the virtual cockpit is just stunning! On previous PMDG products I've only ever used the 2D views, and I'm struggling a bit to navigate around the virtual cockpit whilst flying at the same time. Can anyone offer me any tips? I only have a CH yoke, magic mouse and keyboard. Thanks in advance!Martin Neep

I have the Air Condition on before start up to cool the cabin. Do I need to turn it to 'Fan Only' prior to engine start up or is the planes systems advanced enough to over ride the A/C while the engines are starting up?Reason why I ask is I left the A/C on by accident during start up and noticed that the air cond light went out on its own and turned back on after the engines spooled up and stablized.Any input on what s the normal procedure for this.ThanksNathan Palmer

Evening all-I am making a quick little cheat sheet for the larger planes that I fly most frequently. While pulling together my information, I came across something peculiar that I can't put my finger on for sure. The fuel burn is noted as 1200 lbs (first hour) and 1000 lbs for each additional hour.I see the max fuel is 5818 lbs (873 us gal max * 6.6 lbs per gal of kerosene +/- = 5762 lbs)That's pretty close. So 5818 / 1200 = 4.84 hours of flight time.Cruise max at 250 knts (VMo) * 4.84 = 1210 nm rangeEverything I find on line says the max range = 774 +/- miles.I assume that the range is based on a full occupant load? I don't really know how the parameters are set up to dete…
