    Hey Folks:I have been having some hassles with landing lately. The aircraft bounces despite VREF +5 and flaring - as instructed in the PMDG manual.I was speaking with a "real" 737 pilot and he said that the 737 was meant to fly onto the runway and not to be flared.Ok so I tried his advice and didn't flare to the last 10 feet or so (if at all). No bounce whatsoever.Is this information correct - "the 737 was meant to fly onto the runway and not to be flared"?Thanks.....Iain

    Ok, I've been away from the forum for ages now but as usual I always check the site on a daily basis (I'm sad I know).Anyway, I got the impression that the "F" was due out about Christmas time - I seem to remember the messages saying "soon" and "nearly ready" etc.Just wondering how things are going? I left it ages before asking, so please don't get upset!     Are there any charts for the -600/-700NG on working out the de-rated power by using the assumed temp in the FMC? Can't recall seeing any. But then again, I've never looked real hard.Any help would be appreciated. Jon.

    Hi all, I could not find this information anywhere. But does anyone know when 747 pilots select climb 2 in the FMC? I know that climb 2 has a less climb thrust than climb 1. Do 747 pilots select climb 2 when the aircraft is at a certain gross weight since the airplane doesn't need as much climb thrust at lighter gross weights? If so, what is that weight?Ken.

    I would like to insure that I am setting up my 737NG flights without panel settings from previous flights (737NG or other addons) interfering. I appologise in advance if some of these questions have been answered a long time ago but I have tried searching the forum. Both flight below on AP with autoland enabled:I just re-flew my approach into Haneda with a very stiff x-wind and am quite sure the cockpit perspective shifted dramatically passing 500' AGL as the rudder kicked right and the left wing shifted very slightly down for final into 34R. This was amazing. I quickly went into SPOT view and sure enough the rudder was kicked slightly to the right to help straighten the a/c with the rwy hdg. Um-ba-leevable!I have observed previously in strong'ish x-wind landings in the 744 that the rudder kicks out the crab just prior to touchdown (maybe 50 to 100 AGL) and was very impressed with that.     Hi all!:-) I went to the Cathay Pacific website,and found that flt. # 881 was operating out of LA to HK non stop with all seats filled. Now I don't know how much cargo they had,but when I attempted this flight with full fuel.I had to make a fuel stop at Taipei Airport, Taiwan. The avg wind's aloft for the flight were headwinds around 50 kts. Do the CF6's I have burn more fuel than the RB211's on Cathy's?     Hi,On the navigation display while in Map Mode, I noticed there was a symbol in green text which read "DECAL" what does this mean?Also, while descending to towards my approcah should the VNav button be disconnected or should it remain on till touch down? or is there a point where it turns off automatically?ThanksMike

    Does anyone know the logic behind having only 1 wing anti-ice switch, and separate anti-ice switches for each engine? I figure if ice affects 1 wing, then it affects the other. I'd assume the same is true for engines, so why separate switches?Paul

    I just did a landing at Haneda in the 744 and took off again on a hand flight after slewing to the departure runway. All went well on a low level sightseeing flight around Tokyo but on descent and approach, there were no GPWS callouts at all. Is this normal? Or did I fail to re-set something? Or must one be at some minimum altitude to trigger them for descent and app?Jonathan

    OKHere is the deal. I am new to heavies (I generally fly only GAs). and I want to fly the 747 like a GA for now. Meaning.. I'll use the auto pilot (which seems to work as expected for the most part) or hand fly.Except... I want to use the NAV radio's ILS for eg.I don't want to use the FMC.For now, I start with the 747 all started and ready to go, hand fly the take off...then use the auto pilot with auto throttle to fly it to my destination and then tune to the ILS or VOR frequency and try to land the sucker.     OK..My second flight from KSEA to KSFO (PMDG 747)selected a DP from Seattle and a STAR to Sfo there was discountinity.Issue 1. I tried connecting it by entering the waypoint that was at the start of the STAR in the work area and L clicking on the square boxes..it took it there. Now I had the same way point twice..and a discontinuity in the middle. Hmmmm... so that did not do it.. I still don't know how to connect it. OK.. no problem, I simply skipped the discountunity.. I learned to do that at least. I went direct to the second waypoint in the STAR.Issue2. I made a nice flight from Houston Hobby to DFW...now I refuled there and was preparing to leave for KLAX, I picked a wesward looking DP and added some Victor airways and some VOR...all the way to KLAX.But it wouldn't accept my Cruzing altitude when I click on EXECUTE after I load a cruse altitude in the NAV page. .. no matter what I use.. FL350 or even 10000 or 3000.I am stuck.. What could be the issue? Is it because I am using Victor airways?Manny

    Hi,I'm using the latest version of the 747. I'm experiencing after 40/60 minutes flight time a very noticable slow down. The textures in the VC constantly reload in roughly 10 second intervals and frame rates become noticably jumpy making landing almost impossible. My FPS was locked at 30. As soon as I noticed the slow down I change this value to 20. The textures stop reloading but after another 10mins the problem returns. Also with the FPS counter displayed it constantly jumps around. It's hit 77FPS (when locked at 20) and gone down to 4FPS.I have tried numerous flights running solely the 744 with a vanilla FS9. No weather/AI/ATC/Scenery etc...Here is my system;ASUS A8N-…

    Hi wonder is someone could help. What do people use to work out the ZFW, i have fuel planners and I know BOW of the 747, but what figure is used to calculate the weight of a person. Iuse fsbuild2, but cant find anywhere in the program that asks how many people are on board, or cargo/baggage. I also use FS keeper, and although you can put the pax and cargo figures into the program, it appears the ZFW remains the same, and all the utilities I have give a different ZFWHope someone can touch on this subject for meRegardsAndy

    Hi all,Been playing around with the bank limit selector on the MCP during LNAV cruise because I seemed to be getting some pretty steep banking during cruise (20deg++). Tried setting it to lower limits such as 5deg or 10deg but didn't seem to have any effect - aircraft keeps on banking up to about 20deg.... Is this control only effective in HDG SEL mode and not LNAV I wonder??Adam

    Hi, I run PMDG 737NG using the Cabin view only on my PC, without a problem. If I apply VC, I'm in trouble with frame rate. Admittedly, I use quite a few add-ons. My question is 'can I upgrade my computer to get the full benefit out of an aircraft that I thoroughly enjoy flying?' My PC specs are as follows: AMD Sempron2800+, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP, GeForce FX 5700 graphic card. By todays standards, I know this is not that impressive, but buying a new one is not an option. If it helps, my Motherboard is a MSI CorCell KT6DDS. Thanks Marty
