Hi,I'll try reproduce if needed, here's the story... Semi formation flight, had a plane at my 3, about 0.9nm. Got the whole TCAS advisories (TA/RA Mode). I then switched my TCAS to XPDR, and whola... Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error :(This is on the Queen, 744 all patches and working flawlessly (except for this).Any suggestions welcome - though I do agree, flying so close to someone else in a 744 is more than likely not advised.... :)

Hi, I created a flightplan via FS9's default flight planner and selected a PMDG 737 as the jet. When I selected the FMC I thought it would automatically load the flightplan simjlar to using the gps, but it didn't. I tried to learn the fmc from the doc that came with the PMDG 737NG package but found it confusing. Is it possible to add a gps to the cockpit manually (I use FS panel studio) or can I make a request for PMDG to add one in a patch? Do real 737's have a gps? Thanks for any help, Yoram

Hello everybodyI am a fresh man on PMDG747, this is my first post. I am not sure if I post is at the right place. Sorry about the inconvenience if I post it on the wrong place.I met a problem after I follow normal procedures to start engine. All 4 engines start up and work normally, but when I try to taxi to the runway by using F3 key, but only No1 engine begin to increase the power. Other 3 engines remain in the Idle modle. The only way to increase the other 3 engines is using the mouse to increse the other 3 engine's throttle on the "thro" panel. Can anyboday help me to solve this problem?I think may be because I made some mistakes when I try to follow the normal proced…

Hi Gang,I took the red eye from KLAX to KEWR this morning on a Continental 757-300. From the boarding area, I noticed that engines on the 757-300 for Conti were RR. Are they they same RB211's that are on 744's on Qantas, BA and Cathay? It was my first time riding on an a/c with Rollerz, and I must say, it was beautifully powerful, and just sounded different. Almost quieter perhaps. If it *IS an RB211, curious to know if these engines are interchangable with the 744 and certain 75's.Tomas

HiFirstly let me say that this packages looks and feels amazing so far. However, I just have a few small questions which I did search for before I posted but could find any defintive answers.1) The gear and gear door animations seem very jerky, is this this same in real life? I have a dual core, SLI rig so it is not performance issues.2) I was a bit dissapointed with the sound whe outside of the plane as I was expecting the whines of the blades when taking off and landing but the sounds seems very muted somehow and underpowered, even on takeoff. This is just the outside sounds I am refering too.3) When setting the flaps, from flush to take-off position is seems to take qui…

Hi there.I have just upgraded my PC and done a clean install of the lot but now whenever I select the 737 in the aircraft selection screen FS9 hangs. I have the boxed version so is already at 1.3 and it also happens with FS9 or 9.1Have searched through forums and someone else reported this back in May 2004 but the reply was e-mail it or post question (which he already had done)No other commercial bought planes do this (Have Level-D 767 as well)Any ideas?Chris

  8. Captains-I have just uploaded the second of the PMDG 747-400/400F Type Rating Course Lesson plans to our server. This lesson is the second of many that we will be providing to teach you the finer aspects of operating the PMDG 747-400/400F in a realistic and detailed fashion. The point of the type course is to provide a bit more hands-on information that we can provide in the Aircraft Operating Manual by allowing you to fly the aircraft and learn some of it's capabilities in a linear course that takes you through aircraft startup through all phases of flight and eventually to shutdown. The Lesson Two type course is designed to take you through the basics of taxiing to the ru…

Hi folks,I've got two questions about the PMDG 737-800...1) How can I go "Direct To" a waypoint on my route? I have searched the forums for this but haven't been able to find an answer. Is there a way to do this in the FMC? 2) Before takeoff, I fill in all my information in the PERF page, and I go into my takeoff page (on the FMC). I then put in my flaps setting for takeoff, and it fills in the v-speeds (V1, Vr, V2) when I click on them respectivly. However, when I am taking off, and I hear "rotate" being called out (indicating I've reached Vr), and I rotate, the aircraft still seems like it doesn't have enough speed built up, and then when I hear V2 being called out, the…

Hey allI just got the new add-on for Kai Tak from the Avsim library. I tried it out with my Cathay 744 and I flew from VHHH to Kai Tak (VHHX or VHXX). When I tried to press the APP button to intercept the IGS nothing happened. I looked on the NAV RAD page and where the ILS freq is supposed to be there was just 'PARK'. How can I get the frequency for Kai Tak's IGS13 (111.9 I-KL) into that spot, also runway 31s (I-HK 109.9) frequency aswell for that matter.any help would be very appreciated!

Are there any plans to model the VC-25. I have been trying to use the paintkit but cant figure out how to do the different doors, airstairs, and all the antenna and IR strobes. I would love to have this to join the 89th Virtual Airlift Wing of the VUSAF. VATSIM dream come true.

Hi captains :-)I am flying the great Queen from Lima to Palma... uh! a long flight... about 4800nm. I had a wonderfoul take-off out of Lima, and after a beautyful circle over the airport I haeaded over the top of the Andes mountains... and climbed to my initial altitude of 31000ft. Everything seems to be allright but then - I do not know why - suddenly my Engine #1 failed and it shutted down - perhaps a flame out (there wasnt any fire alarm...).My porblem: how to restart that engine so that I do not continue the flight

Can anyone from PMDG help me resolve the confusion with the Cost Index input on the FMC?According to the manual it states "The cost index number is a scale value from 00 to 99 (0000 to 9999 on actual aircraft)...". What is the FMC looking for? A 2 digit number or a 4 digit number? English can be very confusing sometimes! Also, in your recent tutorials, the example given says to input the value 124 for Cost Index. This is certainly more than the max.99 so it would lead me to assume that we enter in the data wit a max. of 4 digits. If so, then what real use is it to input 124 instead of 00? Will it make that much difference to the FMC calculations? In need of englighten…

Hello Yesterday I was flying the Queen from KLAX to KMIA. I was on the descent, kind of a downwind leg. I had programed an East Approach and an appropriate STAR on the LEGS page. I also programed the missed approach procedure on the LEGS page. In order to get a more convenient intercept angle of the ILS I decided to use another waypoint on the downwind leg. I was not vectored. I've chosen the same waypoint XXXXX that was used as HOLD point after the missed approach procedure. This is why I downselected this point into the scratchpad and upselected it as a direct-to-point. And there the plane turned directly towards it as it should. However the LEGS page became almost blan…

Hello,Quick question, I was wondering if the 747F manual will be made available via the documents section of the PMDG site, or does the manual that exists there now for the 747 also contain the 747F sections ?The only reason I ask is I only get chance to print these at work and it would be easier to be able to download them rather than mess about with floppy disks (whatever they are).Regards,

I have recently purchased the B737-800/900, because I have B747-400 in my PC so I did follow the suggested installation way i.e un-install my B747-400 then install B737-800/900 and re-install the B747-400 both are CD version and I did not own a B737-600/700.Here are my problems: For B747-400-the cargo and upper deck door cannot open by using the key command (it work before with just the B747-400 alone) For B737-800/900-nothing shows about the B737 under PMDG drop down manual for example style...etc only show the B747-400 choice.please advise!! :) After installing the referenced program, whenever I go to the "Create a Flight" window in the FS 2004, the bottom half of the window that is suppose to show a picture of the selected aircraft, is solid black and there is no picture. This happens no matter which aircraft I select, except the 737 800/900. The 737 800/900 picture shows up like it is suppose to. Also, I noticed that when I select the check list box while in the cockpit view, the check list box shows up, but the background is solid black and covers the entire cockpit panel. I don't know if the installation of this program is the cause of the problem, but it only started doing this after the installation…

Hello all,With the release of kai tak 98 I decided to do a flight from RCTP to Kai Tak so that I could do the IGS approach onto RWY13, using the 747-400 in cathay old colours. I set up the FMC with the route (RCTP DCT MKG A1 ELATO CH SL IGS13A180 VHHX) and calculated a zero fuel weight of 466.7 x 1000 lbs. All other information was entered correctly and I confirmed all Vspeeds and set the trim. At first I used a cruise alt of FL380 but had vnav problems so I reset the flight and tried at FL300. The problem is during the take off roll I have the Vnav climb page open on the FMC but as soon as the wheels leave the ground the vnav climb page goes mostly blank except for LSK 1…

I decided today to start a early descent (about 150NM from TD) by pushing the DES NOW Button. As far as I know this should happen:- the activate button lights up and after activating the AC starts descending (1200 FPM)- The VNAV deviation scale appears and the calculated T/D disappears. In the sim this nothing happens so and you have to avtivate the descent by pushing the alt knob. The descent speed however is 1200 FPM. The DES NOW button only funtions when you are about 10 nm from the T/D sign.Did anyone have this experience?Ton
