Hi Everyone,Got a question, I programmed my FMC using the FS navigator software and all speed changes and flight levels were checked before saving. After bring the Route to the FMC on the 747, set everything up for a flight and engaged LNAV. When I take off and put the flight into VNAV mode, I noticed the LEG page displaying different flight levels as it climbed to the requested Flight Level. I am not sure if it suppose to do that or it is a bug in the program. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.Thank youGihan

As part of my work-in-progress advanced tutorial I would like to get my hands on a digital copy of a North Atlantic Plotting Chart.I know nothing about the ease of acquisition of these charts but so far I've been unable to find anything online. They don't seem to be as freely available as the airport charts and sid/star charts, that's for sure.Is anyone aware of where I could get my hands on one of these? Failing that could anyone recommend an alternative map or chart that I could use? The plan is to plot the NAT points on it and also determine things like equi-time points for the alternate airfields along the route.

Hi,This is not really related to flying, so I'm hoping it won't be to much of topic... I'm busy looking at into developing various applications to use and ease some of our unique problems in the virtual aviation world... The 767PIC and PMDG's nav database uses the same database format, and as such I've decided to use the same database as well to get navigation data for my applications.I've managed to decrypt most of the files and everything seems to be fine so far, but I can't seem to get the hang arround the format of the runways database (wpNavAPT).From what I can gather, I have the Airport Name, Runway, some things I don't get, LAT, LON, ILS Freq, OBS (I think?), and…

We have read the announcement from Microsoft that FS Ten is to scheduled for release near the end of 2006. It is recommended that the new Windows operating system (Vista) schedule for release at the end of 2006 be used.PMDG aircraft are very sophisticated and have complex codes. My question is whether PMDG will be able to make these aircraft compatible with the new FS Ten.In its review AVSIM stated, in essence, that most likely the more complex the aircraft the lower the probability they would be compatible, however, only time will tell.I hate to purchase the PMDG 747-400 this late in the game, and then find that it has problems running on FSX. I have the same concern …

Hi, I recently purchased the PMDG 737NG 600/700 add-on for fs9. It's very well done..thank you:). I'm just a little upset that if I want to view the virtual cabin fully I must purchase a utility to let me do so. I have the Eaglesoft Cessna Citation and I'm able to view the virtual cabin of that jet with the default MS view keys. I don't know why that could not have been done for this add-on. Best regards, Yoramp.s. I cant get the virtual tower view to track planes in the demo active camera..and I havent gotten a response from then..so I wont be buying it.

For any of you real-life airline pilots....Annunciator lights usually come on when a required system is off? I.E. Pitot heat, fuel pumps packs etc. Correct? This would be a industry standard or does it vary by manufacturer/airplane type?Jeff

OK this is probably pilot error but would appreciate help to understand the problem.Today I took part in the Cross the Pond event on VATSIM.I filed for FL320 in the PMDG744.The FMC indicated a step climb to FL350 part way across the Pond but I stuck at FL320 and entered that in the legs page against the w'pt that was showing FL350.On my descent my first ALT constraint was 11,000ft but some 700nm from that w'pt the FMC was creating a ToD point!!:-hmmm Fortunately I was on vectors from ATC so they gave ALT constraints otherwise i would have just used level change and watched the green arc.Can anyone advise why that odd ToD was given and how to avoid it if I again decline th…

Has anybody in the 747 with FMC loaded and in mid flight cruise experienced either a Flight Sim system shutdown taking me back to my desktop? or the simulation pauses on it's own and then all of the FMC flight plan info is lost and autopilot disconnects?frustrated and thanks for any info

Dear PMDG Team,I am just wondering if we can reprogram the FMC while in-flight. Supposed you want to change your destination for let say emergency landing. Is there an option for an Alternate Destination. Thanks, PMDG 737-800/900; 747-400 Queen of the sky.Isagani

Howdy!I was wondering what the procedure is for using trim after takeoff. I generally get 6.0 as a trim setting for take off. After rotation i start to follow the FD cues but sometimes find that i have to pull rather hard on the yoke to pitch up and down especially if the aircraft is fully loaded. I normally fly up to 10,000ft manually and i use trim during my initial climb to position the nose in the FD cues which eliminates overuse of the yoke.In real world operations id imagine that forceful movements on the yoke during a critical stage of flight ,such as take off, can cause damage to the airplane. So can i use trim to help with the pitch up movements after rotation or…

Upon loading up a cold & dark situation and moving the flap handle out of the up position, the leading edge devices start to deploy (slowly) and there is a slight movement in the trailing edge flaps as well (you have to view this from the outside as the displays are obviously dark). What is providing power for the flaps to move? When you establish electrical power (several minutes after moving the flap handle) and the EICAS display comes alive, it shows that the flaps have moved almost to the FLAPS 5 position.Rushad

<>I've spent the entire day trying to undo the damage apparently caused by Lesson 2. But nothing seems to work. It's as though the plane doesn't want to work any more.I was working my way through the lesson and all was fine until I got to Part 3A, the aborted takeoff. Then everything fell apart. First, the plane lost thrust after 80 knots although it did continue to accelerate but very, very slowly. It finally got to 110 or 120 and I pulled back the throttle to activate the RTO process. (I had the RTO switch set in the COM panel and I had the box checked in the options to allow the throttle to activate the RTO process.) But there was no braking action whatsoever. At…

Hello everybody and good day!As many of you may know from seeing my previous posts I have just received a new computer from my parents. Here are the specs:Velocity Micro Gamer's Edge PC2GB PC3200 RAMAMD Athlon X2 Processor (Dual Core=X2? im guessing :) )nVidia 7900GT (SLI ready MOBO)Creative Audigy 4 Sound Card and a 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System. However the new video card is obviously really powerful. I suppose in saying all this I really have two questions1) I am getting about 35 FPS not even all sliders all the way up. I am fine with this, but is this normal (I see many posts on this forum from people who have similar powerful comps)2) nVidia lets me set modes li…

Hello,Now 400 hrs with fantastic 744 without any major problems. However with new Aerosoft Mega eddf scenery, FS Meteo, RC4 and moderate AI I did suddenly get CTD (my very first with 744!) at short final after 10,5 hrs flying. Cause was out of memory. I do have relatively powerful pc with 1,5 gig memory (and pagefile disabled).I did fly same leg (SBGR-EDDF) the with pagefile enabled and no CTD but some stutters in finals. Since then I have done some testing and I do notice that with mega EDDF memory usage is very high -> up to 1.4 gigs. Also 744 requires a lot more memory than LDS 763, all PSS, NG I think. With my CTD flight reflow I did get following mem usage. At the …

On Vnav descent engaged, the Autothrottle speed magenta line on the speed tape on PFD just fluctuates between cruize speed and descent speed. The autothrottle doesn't even have time to react so the speed stays the same but that visual movement is annoying...After fiew "jumps" between cruise and descent speed - speed magenta line stay on descent speed and everythings ok.Can someone explane - why speed magenta line fluctuates, when airplane comes from cruise to descent? I can see this after install 747-400F. I did not see this on packs 747-400 befor I install 747-400F. Now speed magenta line "jumping" on packs 747-400 too.Pavel.

Hi,Read par2 of the training about takeoff with engine out. Excellent tutorials. In this situation, rudder control is needed to keep going straight.I finally got my CH rudder (gameport) to work with my other USB input devices, so I'm now able to do some cool things mentined in the training. However, in FS9's realism settings, should I un-check autorudder? If I un-check autorudder, that means turns will no longer be auto coordinated--the real aircraft is auto coordinated. Wondering what PMDG would recommend for the auto rudder option in FS9 if one has rudder pedals. I don't want to use the pedals while in flight, unless in a x-wind landing situation. Thanks,PatAMD A…

Is it possible to save a route manually entered into the FMC for future use? I have been unable to find any instruction on how to save anything entered, and it's frustrating having to enter a flightplan every time, especially if it consists of 22 pages in the FMC.Johan PlaneUppsala, Sweden
