Since installing the update this morning the 747 sometimes creates a loud crackling sound suffient to drown the engine sounds and consequently I have to end the flight. The flight will start normally and the sound commences at some time into the flight. It's a problem I've not yet encountered and am wondering if my settings should be changed in some manner?Cliff

I bought 737TNG three years ago. I am re-installing it. These are the files I have:PMDG_737_REMOVE.EXEPMDG_737_INSTALL_README.TXTPMDG_737_The_Next_Generation.W02PMDG_737_The_Next_Generation.W03PMDG_737_The_Next_Generation.W04PMDG_737_THE_NEXT_GENERATION.ZIPPMDG_737_THE_NEXT_GENERATION.EXEPMDG_737_The_Next_Generation_SU1-1.ZIPMy question: How do I install the latest version which is reported at precisionmanuals.com to be "PMDG 737-600/700 Version 1.3"?Thanks!Chris

I was reading through the accident report of SIA006 which noted that the aircraft involved was fitted with a PVD, which I understand is located on the pilot's glareshield. Could someone explain what this device is for and how it works in the real world?-Lee Barberhttp://home.nc.rr.com/uniuniunium/dvasig.jpg

Greetings all,Today I decided to finally fly outside the USA via VATSIM. Until now, I always flew within the US. I went from CYUL to CYYZ (Montreal to Toronto) on the 737-600. While programming the FMC, I noticed a lack of SIDS/STARS and approaches at YYZ. Is this by design, and if not is there a way to download them? I have the latest downloads from NavData.AT and PlanePath.com (0608).I had the charts in front of me (eg: SIMCO2 for Toronto) and was able to add each waypoint after YSO,and ATC gave me vectors for the 6L approach. I'm used to having all the SIDS/STARS/APPROACHES in the FMC, so I'm a bit confused. Can anyone help? Many thanks,Ron

There have been suggestions aplenty in various threads, let's put it to a poll in one thread, as it were. This isn't an exhaustive list, but of these commercial airliners which one or two would you like to see in the virtual skies, PMDG style?Boeing717737-300/400/500757767777AirbusA300A310A318/19/20/21A330/40A380MDMD80/90MD11BAeConcordeAvroRJEmbraerERJ170I'd like to see a 757 or MD11 personally, although the Embraer 170 would be an interesting choice.Ben

Those who enjoy using real-world flight plans might like to know that I've just uploaded 100 r-w plans for the PMDG B737 in *.rte format. I've also included an identical set in *.pln format for use with programs such as Radar Contact 3.The plans cover a large number of UK and European destinations with a couple of transatlantic flights thrown in for good measure. With flight times between 27 minutes (Stansted-Amsterdam) and 8 hours 47 minutes (Munich-Newark) there should be something for everyone. They should be available from the libraries at Flightsim.com and Avsim.com as '73ngfpl1.zip' sometime during the next 24 hours.Happy flying.Pete

Hey all,Ive been searching now for months for the Best BBJ for FS9 (and something that'll be updated for FSX) and I think I'll be a new PMDG Customer. Yeah, I looked at Ariane very closely, but im starting to see through the crap;)(if ya know what i mean)....after seeing the price tag, the final clincher was hearing all your opinions on ariane and how much of a Pain it is. Then I emailed them with a question, and the guy was a real dick to me...so, Im leaning more and more toward PMDG!! Then I was told about PMDG (although Ive seen the PMDG planes floating around quite a bit on different sites...some of the guys at Pacific Airways VA talk real good about it). I'm really l…

I think this flow checklist is new to the most of you. It is based upon an original version of the PS1-744 checklist by Will Cronenwett. It is only slightly modificated in order to fit exactly to the PMDG 747. It is comprehensive but short and easy to use. If you like, you can try it for better flights - I hope so...

I lost all PMDG 737NG fuselage textures. Had just installed an airport scenery, so I turned that off but no help. All other aircraft (default and addon) were okay. I reloaded one of the paints I use for the 737 and it then worked but no others did. I looked at the config files and everything looked normal between the one I got to work and the ones not working. Okay, now we're having fun. Did a search on missing textures here and finally found Mats suggesting that XP performance be set for program vs cache resources (My Computer properties advanced tab). I remembered I changed from program to cache two weeks ago as an experiment, and that I have flown the 737NG many times …

Since most airlines require that the Captain do all of the taxiing, even when it's the F.O.'s leg to fly, how to F.O.s build the necessaray skills and instincts to taxi when they finally become Captains themselves? Surely they don't just hand over a 747 to a new Captian who only has experience taxiing 737s from a previous captaincy and tell himn to have at it? Perhaps it's like drivers ed, and they have a special taxi training center center, where there are dozens of 777s and 747s taxiing around orange cones at an empty airport? Okay, that's far fetched, but the image in my head is quite funny so I thought I'd share it :-)I just hope they dont make you parallel park us…

Any updates, folks? I feel like it's been a few months since the last one, so a few more shots and a short update "Here's where we are..." would be nice. I am guessing we are not in Beta testing yet because no shots have appeared from the testers.- Neeraj

HiPlease don't flame me for posting this in the support forum when I know it is not a PMDG specific issue. I have been flying the PMDG queen of the skies for a few months now and have recently upgraded my machine. I have bought various add-ons for weather and atc etc, but I have no idea what are considered the best airport scenary add-ons. I would really like to enhance my 744 flying experience by getting one or more quality packages. I was wandering what other PMDG flyers use and what they would recommend. I would particularly like to have egll, kjfk, klax and ksfo. Many thanksGiles

Hey Guys, I recently purchased the PMDG 747-400. Great product. So after going to 'ground school', I'm ready to fly the aircraft. I wanted to do ILS approaches but I cannot seem to manually tune any ILS frequency. Response on FMC says 'INVALID ENTRY'. I set my airport as both the departure and destination and select the runway for approach, ILS option. The ILS does not autotune, and the ILS/MLS displays 'PARK'. I've tried tuning with the FD both off and on (I think I read something about that in the documentation but I can't locate it now). Can anyone point me in the right direction? I tried searching for posts with this subject matter but no luck. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,I am having a hard time with my PMDG 737-800.I installed the aircraft and all of the updates from the web site.Than I installed an updated AIRAC from navdata and found updated SIDS/STARS on avsim and installed those.I am trying a short hop from Orlando to Miami and I cant load any SIDS/STARS for either airport and I am getting errors regarding the runway in the FMC.Any ideas how to resolve this? I have used the aircraft before without issues so I am not sure what is going on wiht this new install.

Hello Gentlemen,I've been using the B744 in conjunction with Christian Grille's TOPCAT tool and also with Boeing's own data - especially for all takeoff calculations. Up until upgrading to the B744F - I've only ever noticed minor inconsistencies between the Queen and Boeing's own data when calculating RTOD, thrust derates etc. However, since installing the B744 cargo, performance on takeoff seems to be a good bit out of whack. For example, At ATOW of 697,000lbs, wind 2 kts headwind, 36 deg C, 1002 hPa, runway length 13,800 feet. I get a max derate of T0-1 and +68deg C - giving 13,600 feet required, and that climb limit is 699,000lbs. On take off with either passenger or c…

Hi, Im trying to do the 747 TRC 1 tutorial. Im trying to set up the FMC and when I put in the Intersection NORMY, BLUIT, and even the VOR EPH it tells me "not in database". I have the latest AIRAC cycle for the 737NG. I believe that both the 747 and the 737 share the same AIRAC cycle. Am I wrong? If not can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you. Brian Busby.

Just recently added the 400F to my hangar, and am greatly impressed!Have noticed a strange behaviour since...when aircraft is on final approach and properly lined up with runway (ILS showing no deviation), in both MAP and PLAN views the runway and centreline are at an angle ... quite disconcerting. The pics below show a/c lined up on 01 at Brisbane (=016 magnetic)...in both views you can see the runway at an angle ....in MAP view, the runway appears to be 027 --- and this is the magnetic deviation at Brisbane (11 degrees east) added to the runway heading. In PLAN view the runway seems to be about 35 degrees???Is there any explanation for this, and any way to correct it ..…

I replaced my motherboard, cpu & added a new hard drive and had to reinstall Windows XP, FS9 and pretty much everything else. I installed my PMDG 747 but while FS9 is trying to load the plane it crashes to my desktop.

If you have the registered version of FSUIPC, you can now configure an extra joystick as the steering tiller. FSUIPC will then implement accurate steering tiller logic thereafter, requiring exclusive use of the tiller at taxi speeds below 30 knots, then introducing gradually increasing rudder pedal effectiveness on takeoff roll at 30+KIAS, along with diminishing tiller effectiveness to 60 knots, at which point the rudder pedals must be used exclusively to steer the aircraft on the runway centerline. The process is of course reversed on landing. Pretty cool! Also with FSUIPC, you can configure an extra joystick axis as the thrust reverser. On my setup I have a CH yoke…

Hello World, I m a PMDG 744 pilot and lovin it!!! I run into a slight problem. I notice that Squawkbox is not in the modules box when I try to open squawkbox. This occurred after the next time I opened FS and return to the saved flight. I can get it when I create a flight with FS a/c. When I change aircraft to PMDG squawkbox disappears from the modules part of the dropdown box.Is there any help for the poor widows son?Marc B.

Been flying captioned aircraft for 2/3 weeks. Getting vnav disconnects which I believe are coming from high speed descents. Flight plans look good and FMC speeds and ALT looks good. Coming down I start with the disconnects.I can usually get the VNav back. Fellow on this forum told me to control speed with S/B. I assumed I could find S/B in manual. No luck! Can anyone explain the use of S/b and where to find it. I usually go to A/P when it disconnects and control things with V/S, alt and manual spd adjustments. Thanks.Frank
