  1. Hi there,When inbound on a VOR, at what DME should you start your turn to go outbound and not overshoot? Presumably speed and rate of turn are important factors? Are there any methods for acurate VOR flying? ThxTristan

Hey all,I have been flying the PMDG 737ng series for lttle over 2 months now. I dont request IFR clearance from FS9 ATC as they give me commands that interfere with my FMC flight plan.I just wondered what do other people use? I like to fly in poor weather and unless I make an IFR request, ATC will not let me land or takeoff:-hmmm Thanks in advance,David

I am just curious if you have Wing views for the 747 and 747F it would be quite nice feature because as the current version gow's there is no Wing views for it.

Is it possible to program FMC that the aircraft is overflying a waypoint (VOR/intersection) exactly and not turning before to the next waypoint? This procedure is asked strictly during examination sessions online. Thanks, Peer

Hi all. I have been wondering when to start deploying flaps--and what fashion I should do it in.I'm using the PMDG 737-700. How far away from the airport should I start my flap deployment? If someone could help me out on this subject, that'd be great! Thanks.Tim

Bit of a panic on tonight when my NG FMC wouldn't engage LNAV, then said there was no active route. When I tried to reset the waypoints I got gobbledygook. Oh no, I thought, here we go for a complete reinstall, there goes the next 10 hours' simming time. But... a defrag cured everything. :) :) :)Just thought I'd post this in case anyone has similar probs.Rob

  12. Hi - this is my first post at the PMDG forum. I have a question concerning frame rates on the 737NG after installation of FSX on a separate, external drive - Before I did this, the frame rates were great - upwards of 25 - 30 FPS in general. (I have my FPS locked at 35). After installing FSX on that external drive, the frame rates drop to less than three...yes, THREE. This extreme drop happens once I start programming the FMC, and only with the main panel displayed. (Overhead, and the side views with the joystick hat are fine - still excellent frame rates for those after programming the FMC).I've tried loading the 2D cockpit only, 3D cockpit, and 3D cockpit & cab…

Hi,Although I know since a long time MS Flight Simuator minutes are shorter than real minutes (60 FS seconds are only 58 real seconds), I noticed today only that the PMDG 744s chrono jauge is wrong as well.If you look at this screenie, taken at the end of a flight from UK to Miami, you'll see what I mean:http://aiarnaud.free.fr/pics/chrono.jpgThe chrnometer was started exactly at 11.00Z, just when thrust was applied for take-off. Exactly 8 hours and two minutes later (see the time UTC on the FMC), the chronometer shows 08.15, which is 13 minutes more).Any way to fix that, Lefteris?or maybe I am already old fashioned with FS9, and maybe FSX fixed those too short FS world m…

You say in the manual that the order for installing the 737ng packages and then the 747 packages should be in order of release. The next question I have is what if I have been running the 744 and 744F on a machine for months now and all of a sudden I want to install my 737 that I have had "shelved" for a while? What is the order? Do I need to uninstall my 744 Pax and F?ThanksWilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Only to your information: After upgrading my firewall from Outpost 3.51 to 4.0 the refresh rate broke down to about four fps - doesn't matter which option I have chosen. But only with the PMDG 747. All other aircrafts kept their normal fps. After going back to Outpost 3.51 I got again 18-30 fps... Any explanation?

Ok so in all my haste to get going with FSX I uninstalled EVERYTHING FS2004 related thinking man I will never touch this gain, only to realize an hour later that its FSX that will be taking the backseat for a while. So I have reinstalled FS2004/Ground Enviornment/PMDG 736/7/8/9 and FSNavigator. Now comes the troubles on EVERY flight I fly I keep getting this RWY/APP CRS Error which is normally proceeded by VNAV Approach error or somthing to that effect so my aircraft does not pick up the ILS, this is pissing me off and I never had this problem prior to the uninstall. I am not a noob at this plane and I have tried everything even a reinstall. I have the latest AIRAC but st…

It's happened more than once now.In the 747, Vnav and Lnav engaged at FL350 in the middle of a 4h flight, with no weather to speak of, I was woken by the stall warning to see that I had lost 60kias of speed from the programmed 287.The Efis also displays 'Spd' in green but without a surrounding box, and no Lnav indicator at all: 'Cmd' is shown.Shame on me but it's been a while since Ive flown the 747 and I can't remember what it should display, but I do remember that I shouldn't lose speed in level flight.Any ideas please?

Hi. I came across this: http://www.aerowinx.de/archive11.cgi/noframes/read/5460where someone says that the FD bars aren't to be trusted for the initial climb away from the runway, i.e. following the pitch bar immediately it rises above 8 degrees nose up could lead to a tailstrike. Is this right? My usual technique is to rotate at Vr to the pitch director bar, then hold 8 degrees nose up, and then follow the FD bar when it rises further. This usually results in a climb speed of approx V2+15. At high gross weight I find I'm waiting a long time for the altimeter tape and rate-of-climb indicator to move, and by the time they do move noticeably, the FD bar has already risen…

I am having a few major problems with my 747. Shortly after I begin a fligth, the three screens displaying altitude, speed, engine info etc. just shuts down and goes black. Another thing, I was taking a tutorial from KLAX to KEDW and I start in a "cold and dark cockpit". It tells me to turn on a few electrical swithces but when I press them they don't turn on. Thses are bug problems and I cannot fly the airplane with all this. Is this happening to others or am I the only one? Please help! Thanks in advance,John Hudson

Hi,When using the VC during the cruising phase my computer can handle the sim "acceptable" in the range of 20-25 FPS which is smooth enough for me, but in the landing phase the FPS drops to the low ten, that is a pity as I am forced to use the 2D view if I want to do a good smooth manual landing.Thinking of more tweaks to improve frames rate I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the first officer PFD and ND and also the Primary EICAS display in the VC. My theory (maybe a nonsense) is that in that last moment when approaching the runway turning them off will free the processor from that extra mathematical calculations and use that extra power to improve the frames …

I cant believe this and dont understand whay ?All my frame rates on all my PMDG pruducts ( 737/600 - 700 / 737/800 - 900 / 747-400 and 747F ) have all gone to pot !Not changed anything im aware of, just one day I descided to make a flight in the 747 and frame rates are about 4 -8 per secs from the main panel.Turns out this is for all the PMDG products I own but only when looking ahead in the 2D panel. On all the 2D panels looking ahead the frame rates drop but if I look slightly left or right and conmpletely left or right from the flight deck the rates shoot back up to 25 per secs ???Outside spot veiw using EGKK pro scenery with all sliders up shows rates of 25 per sec but…
