I am trying to learn how to fly the PMDG 747 plane, and PC Pilot Magazine in the UK has what appears to be a very good tutorial started by one of their writers named Jane.I have just tried the first one where the idea is to start from a cold and dark state.The first objective is to start the APU. I followed everything as far as loading the fuel, which i did, and then I saw the fuel switches all showed "on", as expected.I activated the APU switch ( spring loaded ) and then waited but even after waiting minutes I did not see the white writing advisory in the EICAS glass frame saying "APU Running"I tried this procedure twice but no luck. One year ago, I flew my first purchased the amazing PMDG 744. I can still remember how shocked I was at the difficulty I had trying to simply start the engines. It was two days later when I finally took my first flight as I was still try to learn the aircraft. On average, it would take me about 45 minutes to simply start taxing. It's funny that after getting my preflight down to 10 minutes, I'm back to 45 with FSCrew. That and even though I've been at it for a year now, I'm still learning new tricks and functions I never knew about. I must say that before the PMDG 744, I never purchased addons. When I press the "0" on the FMC keypad the number "8" appears.Also I cannot use the keyboard to enter data. When I select kbd on the FMC the key bd doesent respond (on the FMC).Any clues?RegardsJohn Earl

Yesteday I went looking for the 747 load manager and I was supplied an answer in this forum, I simply forgot where it was located, but I was also looking for the 747f load manager? Sirs, I've switched to Windows Vista (Professional) and would like to know if upcoming PMDG MD-11 and 747 for FSX will be compatible (tested and certified) with the new Microsoft O.S.

GentsIs there anyway to speed up the PMDG Navdata load times when you initially select a PMDG aircraft in FS9--AIRAC cycle 702 is released--but it takes nearly 2 minutes to load up every flight (in the FS9 create flight menu). I recall back in the pre-610 days, the menu would pop up and load within 10-20 seconds.THanksRake

Hi everybody,After installing the 747-400 "Queen of the skies" download version 1.1 I couldn't find the visual load manager utility. Btw...don't have a PMDG start menu entry either under W2k after installation. Had to download the operating manual from the precisionmanual.com download section also. Well...I don't mind not to have a PMDG start menu entry, but is there any possibility to get the load manager utility as a stand alone download from the PMDG web site?Thx!Peter

Hi guysWell I had this problem about a year ago but without me doing anything it just disappeard untill 2 days ago and I have made 4 flights and in al of them I have had this problem, Here it goes, Cruizing at Fl350, everything seems normal, suddenly A warning comes up ">Altitude Alert" and soon I get a message in FMC saying Max ALT something stupid like FL 173 or 168 (Past two Flights) and when i delete this message and check CRZ VNAV page it showed that OPT ALT was FL344 so flying at FL350 was reasonable then the worst part begines,747 starts to descent and going off course, ( looks like its going on a holding pattern, start turning left or right), AP is engaged as …

I am having trouble engaging the altitude hold and vertical speed functions in the PMDG 737 600/700. When I engage the autopilot the, I am not able to engage the altitude/vertical speed functions. In fact the aircraft begins to osscilate in the vertical plane. What am I missing?

Hi i fueled up about 37 percent and anyway when entering my cruise level.It says OPT FL is 430 and max is FL429. That is wrong and doens't make sense. Does anyone know why?And also on FMC when i click 0 it shows 8 instead!! And also the same with 4 and 7.Please help. Really want to fly it.Thank YouBest WishesSwadeep

Hi,I am thinking of expanding the ouside views and would like to hear opinions and pro's and cons of using either of the 2 approaches above. I don't have any experience with either product and am looking for the most flexible solution that will provide a good FOV and make the experience more realistic. hi guys......i wanted to make wing views and noticed i didnt have wings from the 2D panel views?????is there anyways to make the wings visible from the 2D panel views because wing views are a big part of my simming experience.....thankskylan

Hello all,I have a new PC with VISTA HOME PREM installed on it.I have loaded FS9 and installed 737ng and 800-900 no problems, however when i try to load the 747-400 (box) i get a "A required security module can not be loaded". I know it says for XP but the 737's loaded no problem. Is there a something i can do to get it to install?

Sorry for throwing this to the PMDG crew, but I don't know where else to post this and besides, everyone knows PMDG pilots are the smartest of the bunch ;)I've recently started using the Navigraph chart service (which I highly recommend), but am a bit confused by the the Minimum Safe Altitude on their STAR charts, as it lacks a radius from the given fix. Hey all.On videos i notice that after takeoff the first officer or captain calls for climb power and changes are made to the throttle. How do you work out what to set the throttles to to achieve climb power?PS, this is for the 737-700.Thanks,David

I've done a search on this and can't seem to find an answer to my question unless I overlooked it, if so I apologize. When I program a flight into the FMC I keep winding up with strange waypoints when I select a SIDS/STARS. I've been following the instructions in the OPS manual and here's what happens anyway: After setting up the FMC,I select the origin and destination, then I go to the DEP/ARR page and select the SIDS for a particular runway, then I select the TRAN if any exists then the available runways show up. When I select the runway a dotted line appears on the PFD that has me going back and forth, criss crossing the airport at angles the plane is not capable of …

I recently had to reinstall FS9, and for the most part everything is OK, however, the FMC now does not recognize ICAO codes or previously saved routes. Do I have to somehow reinitialize the FMC data base or reinstall. Any suggestions appreciated.Ron

Howdy,This is happening alot with me recently, but this is going to be the last crash to the desktop....Whilst selecting my flight with the PMDG 737-700 (NG), all is well. As soon as i clicked "fly now", the desktop appreared a split second later. It crashed....Angry that this has happened to me before a million times, including the 744, i tried again. It managed to load up fine, but when openeing the FMC, the crash to the desktop happened again.Any ideas? I completely re-installed windows XP, but no avail.Oh, before ye ask, i installed the 744 after the 737 NG.Help appreiciatedrobbie
