PMDG General Forum

I looked through the manual and really didn't find anything. What I'm looking for is a way to enter a assigned alt to the fmc that is either before or after a waypoint. Example... ATC assigns me to be at 10K feet 15 miles before waypoint ABC or after.Can this be done in the FMC?Steve

I know I saw some answers to this on the forum, but after searching for the last half hour I can't find anything on it.Im on a flight from KSFO to EDDF using the Lufthansa Star Alliance re-paint by Yochai Mossi, and to get the window lights on I need to have landing lights on.Is there a problem with the re-paint os is it something in the model itself?Is there a fix for it or is it best left alone?Here's 2 attachments to show what I mean.Thanks for any help or advice.

Hi all:After landing I only had control over #1 engine. This has happened twice now. I am wondering if there is an easy solution or am I doing something wrong or do I need to re-install? I was following the same procedures I always do when on approach. The last incident was at EDDK.RegardsRick

Will the installers for each of the PMDG products designed for FSX be more seperate (not dependant on each other) as their FS9 conterparts were?In other words, in the past, if you owned several PMDG products, there was a specefic installation order that must be followed. Especially if you were re-installing all PMDG products or had purchased them out of order. Un-installs could also affect other existing PMDG installations too.As PMDG gains momentum into the FSX product line, I was curious to know if PMDG has changed methods in this area as well.Also, how about the availability of repaints downloadable as both individual and one large packages? Can anyone please tell me why I cannot get the LON VOR ident to display on the ND but have no trouble getting Brookmans Park (BPK) to display. See attached screen shot.The ND seems to pick random VOR idents to display. EG it displays Barkway (BKY) but not LAM, OCK or MID, only the frequencys and distance are displayed. I also only get the VOR needles showing when I am tuned to a VOR showing an ident.I don't just get the problem in England the SFO VOR ident doesn't display, neither does the direction needle.I have had a good look into the forum but can't seem to find any answer.Best regards,Jon Edgar

Rotate the FMC...This question really applies to ANY FMC in FS9. I would like to display my FMCs in potrait mode so as to have the FMC fill the entire touchscreen display. I have mounted the monitor in portait fashion (on its side) and tried rotating the display 90 degrees in the Nvidia toolbox. It tells me that it can't be done in any resolution that I select. With that in mind, my next idea is to actually rotate the FMC. You can resize the FMC when undocked, but I can't seem to find a way to rotate it. Anybody know how to do this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!Regards,Terry

Hello,I know that this may not be the best forum for this question, but there are quite a few users out here that may help.I'm busy designing my own paint scheme for the queen. I'm using PhotoPaint 12 but I also have PSP 8.0 installed.I'm tring to figure out a way to create a ribbon effect. kind of like the BA tails. Is there a way to create this effect from scratch or to apply a (combination of) effect(s) on a strip of color to reach the desired effect?many thanks,Xander

PMDG:I sent an e-mail to support saying the store says I am not in their database. I bought the NG and the 800-900 upgrade in 2003. Well, I know I bought the NG in 2003. The 800-900 may have been 2004. Anyway, how can I establish that I bought these products. The hardrive is gone, but I have my original e-mail hardcopy from PMDG with my order number and license number. Kaydub

I'm running PMDG 737NG and 747-400F on a new Alienware PC with Windows Vista installed.I managed to install lots of liveries with no problems, but recently when I tried to install more liveries downloaded from the PMDG website, it doesnt't work.Here's the problem...The older-style installer says "the .../aircraft.cfg could not be opened".The newer-style installer says "you don't have Flight Simulator installed on your machine".Puzzling.Any ideas?

Between Michael's FG-GS service, and Mo's BA World Tails, I am even more passionate about my 400. Is there a posibility of improving the current product with some of the changes wrought in FSX?Obviously some things like the mentioned wing flex and camera views are restricted to the new platform. That's fine. More importantly, if there are functional systems upgrades and additions (ACARS, FMS screens, EICAS additions, etc) would it be possible to port this stuff over to the FS9 version? My preference would be function over eye candy.I know that I am not alone in my choice the stay with FS9 for now- but as my a/c of choice (probably 80+%) I sure would like some updates …

As my system seems to be getting slower to start up I was wondering if it is possible to load flight plans into the folder where they are stored without starting up FS9 does anyone know. Like is it possible to type them up using a word processor and store them ?.

Hi,With the advent of Sept 1, and the release of new PMDG products, I'm now considering implementing further FSX purchases, i.e. ActiveSky (FSX), and the PMDG products, in particular the new 737-Ng. After patching the initial FSX release I ran the patch, and I'm now experiencing a weird 'white screen' delay when changing views. The screen blanking wipes out about 3/4 of the view for a few seconds, but is annoying.Would a re-install be in order?

Hello All,I am having a problem trying to use the cycle708 SIDSTAR data for my PMDG 737 at KORD. Initially I was getting the err: rwy 10 unknown message on the FMC when I selected the DEP/ARR function. I consulted this forum and downloaded a new AFCAD and changed the runways, starting points and ILS names to rwy 10 and rwy 28. The new runway appeared in the starting locations list when I selected the airport to create a new flight. However, the error message still pops up on the FMC. I can't think of what else I need to do to correct this problem.Also; I like to have the FMC popup on the right side of the screen. I've changed the screen position entry to position=8 but it…

I've painted a 737 with Aerolineas Argentinas livery but I have problems with the graphic format of some files.I use the paint kit, and I try repainting the Lufthansa livery too.I am a good Photoshop user, but I can't know what is the right format for some files.I have repainted:pmdg_700_fuse_t.bmppmdg_engine_L_t.bmppmdg_engine_r_t.bmpPMDG_Tail_T.bmpPMDG_Wing_T.bmpPMDG_WingL_T.bmpI convert all with DXTBmp, but FS9 crashes when I try to select the plane. If I take off in snow and cold temps with clouds around and have NAI and WAI set to ON, at what point during the climb should I ideally turn both off?Also, what point in the descent is the optimal time to turn them back on if landing in similar conditions?Thanks.Jonathan

Hello all,I recently took delivery of the Oasis Hong Kong Airlines 747-400 DVD from simmarket and thought I'd share my thoughts on it.Well for starters I must say this is an excellent DVD, it contains over 200 minutes of footage, the majority of which is technical. Both the flights from Hong Kong to Gatwick and the return are covered in the DVD, the majority of the footage is taken on the flight to Gatwick. The captains (yes there are two) take you through the various panels, PFD, NB, EICAS etc in detail and talk you through most of what they're doing.. You are then taken through the various panels, fairly quickly really without too much in depth detail but just enough.…

After a while I switch on AP and engage heading and FLCH modes to bring me to 3000 feet and continue on runway heading. Soon after that I set the LNAV to fly and HOLD AT fix FUNOR. While on the hold I was trying to reprogram the approach, but encountered trouble.First, I reselect the approach from DEP/ARR page, but that gives me a discontinuity. To PMDG Development Team:I searched release and counldn't find an answer to the following question.When PMDG announces the Release of 747 FSX version, will they send email messages to the forum subscribers at the same time or will the subscribers have to watch the forum for the announcement?This may become critical as I noticed that when the 737 800/900 was released, previous owners of the 737 600/700 version only had 14 days exactly to take advantage of any discount offer they could utilize.Still trying to catch up but don't want to get behind further.Thanks in advance for your kind answer.

Hi,I wanted to practise the holding pattern on 747..and i faced this issue of 747 not wanting to hold ..I searched for this on PMDG forum and came across a post on " PMDG holding bug"..But the last reply was from Lefteris and they did identify this problem and were nailing it down..But that topic is locked after that post and i cant find to see any update on this problem.I followed the missed approach procedure at 34R at KSEA to hold at ANVIL at 5000ft and 161 inbound course..The aicraft flies to the hold properly and attempts to make a tear drop entry into the holding pattern by turning right .But when it is at right angle to the inbound course it forgets that hold and s…
