I built a small circular FMC flightplan of 49 nm today to practice takeoffs, short climbs, descent, and approaches in the 744. I was intrigued to observe that after inputting a pre approach hold of IAS 190 at 3000 MSL, once I was airborne the 744 "stepped down" the speed automatically over a nice distance from the default speed of IAS 240 under 10,000' to IAS 226, then 206, then 190. This gave me time to throw out flaps in an orderly manner and maintain completely stable flight. I think I've observed this feature previously in the NG series. It's a great tool. Does it simulate the real aircraft in this respect?Jonathan

Will we ever get to see Type Rating Course #5 for the 747-400? At the end of TRC 4, it makes mention about TRC 5 for Approaches.The previous TRCs were well put together and extremely beneficial - TRC 5 would round out the collection nicely.Regards,Guy

I planned to fly from Rwy 27 at KSAN to KPHX and my heading track on the ND shows 283, instead of 273. Wrong heading, the plane is aligned correctly on the runway. I correct heading on the FS9 map mode and the plane is incorrectly aligned. This occurs for all my PMDG aircraft(B737 NG all series and 747) at all airport runways. I corrected this problem once, but I don't recall the solution, would greatly appreciate the help, Mark

Hi,I just bought my new computer (dual core 3ghz 6850, 2gb ram, and 8800GTS GPU). On the PMDG webside I see it recomends a 512 mb graphics card- but the 8800GTS only has 320mb- is this sufficinet?I'd have thought with those components running it should be something of a brease. I'm also still running XP but plan to upgrade to vista soon.

I understand that Waypoints are entered on the right side and Airways on the left.However I am not clear as to how to identify Airways. I couldn't decide if I should post here or over in Pete Dowson's forum first, but I thought another 744 owner could confirm my findings before I do.Basically, it appears that Pete's latest incarnation of FSUIPC beta v3.763 cuases engines 2 through 4 to hot-start with a EGT of 512 degrees and no EPR. For some reason, engine number 1 seems fine. Now this was only tried on the United P&W variant but numerious times with the same result. As soon as I reverted back to FSUIPC v3.75, all seemed well again.It didn't seem to matter if it was a auto-start or manual sequence, 2-4 always went to 512 degrees and no EPR.Appreciate anyone who's able to confirm my findings before …

I would like to kindly ask PMDG if someone could kindly explain why the release of the 747-400X has been delayed? I don't mean anything in great detail - just an explanation as to whether there is some problem with the aircraft itself or the purchasing website or the installation program, etc? Hi Folks,Firstly, I appreciate the responses of TABs and others who have made suggestions in another thread and my thnaks for that. I also appreciate that the PMDG testers have not been able to re-create this problem with the Queen or the 737.However, I have been a long time customer of PMDG and I have the 737 Full set as well as the 747-400 and Freighter. I will be purchasing the 747-400X for FSX when my new PC system is built early next year when the Vista issues have been sorted out hopefully by the Service Pack that is due and also when the DX10 issue is also solved.Now I have started to have these shutdowns regularly over the last 5 to 6 months and cannot find an…

I have no idea how I managed to change the barometric reading from inches to hpa in the 737NG but somehow I did. I can clearly see that the knob has an inner and outer ring but I cannot figure out how to move it back to inches. I searched the manuals without any luck ... could someone tell me how it's done?TIA,Ken

Hi all, in the MCP speed, heading, altitude digital displays, the zero and eight digits both display as filled in zeros in the virtual cockpit.I've read somewhere that this is a screen resolution problem but I can't remember where. I've tried adjusting the res using Windows Display Properties but with no effect. The res setting in FS is the same at 1280x1024x32.I'm using a GeForce 8600 GTS.I had this posted elsewhere but it was a bit off topic so I thought I'd repeat it here.Appreciate your help.Geoff

I've put Cycle 0711 KATL in the library along with six STAR charts, check it out. FAA added a new RNAV STAR and reworked all of them to provide dual downwind tracks, either North or South of the airport for landing all runways. I'm so excited with these that I've made the new cycle (starts 25 Oct) available now in the AVSIM FS2004 Flight Plans library. Hi, just wondering if someone from PMDG may be able to explain or perhaps show by pictures some differences bewteeen the FS9 & FSX versions of the PMDG 747-400 & Freighter? By this, I mean seeing rivets in the bodywork, extra detail in the flaps, wheels, cockpit, etc? I'm not listing these as things I hope will be different - just listing some things on the aircraft that may be able to have been done differently by PMDG that we'd notice with the naked eye?Thanks,

Last night I built a simplified flightplan for the 744, KIAD-EGLL. No SIDS or STARS, just hand inserted waypoints based on my knowledge of the airport, routing, etc. Anyway, first WP is RINKS 5.5nm dead ahead of the departure runway (1L) centerline, then a 40 deg turn to the right to RAYEE wp.Here's what happens 90% of the time: rotate at VR, positive climb, nail V2+10 and hold, then at 150-200' AGL, the pink FD roll bar tells me to start flying right and stays there commanding a 360 deg turn around KIAD and THEN heads to RINKS and thence RAYEE. When I first installed the 737 NG many months ago, I took one look at the virtual cockpit and decided not to use it, mostly because reading the guage labels was difficult unless you carefully adjusted your viewpoint for each control. And being new I needed to be able to read everything clearly.Obviously PMDG have spent a lot of development time getting the VC to the standard it's at and there's sure to be a reason for doing it.So I'm asking how many people make use of the VC, and how do they handle getting the views right for operating the various panels? Has anybody here been able to use the GoFlight radio successfully with the 747-400? I can tune the ADF L (I think that's the one) fine, and I can see the VOR L and R frequencies cycling through the GF166 Nav radio LED, but I cannot set either frequencies or switch them through the standby mode. Has anybody been able to do so? What more is achievable, if anything?Jonathan
