PMDG General Forum

Can any one help me.I just get the hang of using the FMC. I've tried reading the read me files that came with the software, but i dont really understand them.Any help would be much appreciated.Thank you

Have looked at the docs numerous times and still have not figured out how to do this easily.What I want to do is add a waypoint a set distance from the end of the runway I am taking off from so the path on the ND is a nice curve instead of a direct line from the bottom of the runway. Some runways have NAV points I can use but most dont and I dont want to begin calculating Lat/Long for a point each time.Example. Fellow captains,I've been having this problem for so long now. This only happens with the original LH livery downloaded from PMDG website. Whenever I ask Ground for a taxi to parking, and there is a separate area for cargo planes at the airport: I always get routed to cargo, even at EDDF where there are tons of designated LH parking spots.Anyone have a clue?Thanks,

At first I thought this was a bug, but I can't find any real life photos or videos to back it up, so I guess it's just how it is. So my question is, why isn't the buttons on the FMC backlit like the other gauges and buttons are? Seems to be a glaring oversight on Boeing's part? This makes it difficult to see the panel at night, and necessitates turning on the Dome light, which could cause glare and affect the pilots outside view.

Hi After installing PMDG 737 NG 600/700 and PMDG 737 800/900, the cockpit CRTs and control interface stop working in 2D cockpit models, i followed all instructions during installation,and have found that if you click on the O for overhead panel, the lower half of the screen go's blank and no buttons or switches work.The installation information states that both packages can be installed at the same time and should work independently of each other, but seam to conflict with each other.any help would be helpfulthanks

Ok, I did a pretty extensive search on this and found nothing, so I apologize if I'm asking a question that has already been answered.I hate to sound Mercenary, but does PMDG intend to offer a discount of some sort to previous owners of the 737? Following Dan Downs' prompt today to ensure that Advanced Animation is checked to ensure that flaps are correctly shown, I decided to run a set of tests to determine how much global texture resolution, filtering and anti-aliasing settings would affect the display frames per second produced by my graphics card (see below). This so that I could have the values set to their optimum values. To my surprise, the frame rates only varied from a maximum of 9.7 to 10.8 fps.My full screen resolution remained at 1280x1024x32, lens flare at off, light bloom at off, advanced animations at on, the aircraft at rest, view at VC, and no scenery add-ons installed. I have this problem in both the 737 and 747.The autopilot will not follow the HDG. It will navigate in LNAV just fine but it seems of a few degrees when I select HDG mode. I though at first it was compinsation for a crosswind or something but it's not.Is this the same as the thread below "Anyone with Skewed ND"?Al Stiff

Hello, first and formost, awesome aircraft! I've been flying her since she came out for 2004!I had a bit of a computer system problem so I decided to reformat and start from scratch. Reinstalling everything went beautifully, however. Loading up the 747 from cold and dark is the way I always go. Getting everything up and going is fine, but I notice that my ailerons continously droop (the outboard, not high speed). I understand this is normal when everything is shut down and there are no hydraulic/pneumatics circulating. I also notice this when the aircraft is loaded fully operational, it loads with the ailerons drooped. Any ideas? Am I missing something? If you need more i…

Hi guys,I was unsure when I am performing manual take-offs and climbs should the auto throttle be switched off?Or can I leave it on and let the VNAV mode control the aircraft's speed automatically while I just concentrate on the hand flying.Regards,Awais Muzaffar

Here's a screen capture of my ND partway through Craig Read's tutorial.Table 3 of the tutorial and the surrounding text list the en-route alternates and the distances between them, and the radii of the circles you need to draw to work out the ETPs so you know which is closer at any given point. Fair enough, and it works when you're flying from one alt airport to the next, but what about when you're not ?The 190nm circle around CYZS is for the CYFB-CYZS ETP, the 120nm circles are for the CYZS-CYRT ETP, all exactly according to Table 3.Why would I want to know the ETP of a line between CYZS and CYRT, which is nowhere near where I'm flying. Wouldn't it be more useful to draw…

I just took off in the 747 and I'm using LNAV/VNAV and it's climbing perfectly fine. After I change the simulation rate or access the Fs menu (alt key), the autothrottles jump from climb thrust down to idle and then back to climb, over and over again. Any ideas? ThanksTodd Adler

Hi everyone!If i go to the pmdg options screen via the menu, the screen turns black and never comes back. This way i can't change the settings. A friend of mine has the same problem. This problem only occurs when using Vista.Anyone an idea?Cheers,Ian Udinga

As stated above, I am trying to find an Engravity CDU for PMDG 747-400 in FS9. Can anyone tell me if there is a company that sells them in the US due to I am not sure I want to spend 200.00+ on shipping from another country. Or does anyone have one for sale? Have the PMDG 747-400 for FS9; getting it when possible for the FSX. What is considered to be the best site / source for airport charts (SimCharts, nDac, Simplates etc.) for flying Vatsim routes? Looking for your opinions, anecdotes - Also, is the PMDG 747-400 (either version) natively programmed to use one set of charts over another when entering information into the FMC?
