Folks, Feeling a little silly here but I am sure someone will set me straight.I have been flying the 737 for some time now. I have not ventured into the button pushing etc to start from cold. Thought I had better do this for further depth.I actually 'RTFM' and at 0-26 (rev 1.4)it talks about the PMDG Cold and Dark scenario to get started from scratch. I have searched my hard drive and cannot find this file. I am completely up to date with revisions and own 600 - 900 series. Running on FS9I would like to start off with the 2D cockpit 800 series.Any assistance would be appreciated.RegardsJock McIntyreYMML

All you need is a 140kt headwind. I actually managed to land (almost) at the gate in a fairly normal rate landing, flare and all. Ground speed about 2 knots (backwards).Try it, it's fun. You can try it for any VREF speed, and wind speed, if you want to try touching down 20 feet away at 20 knots, it could fun to have a 120kt headwind and a 140kt VFREF.The catch is of course, flying the pattern. In this exercise the pattern is more a reverse tack manouvuer. Turn 15 or 20 degrees to one side, and try and keep a sensible low airspeed. Then turn 15 or 20 degrees to the other side and repeat, you should slowly work you way backwards.Of course you can fly a proper pattern, b…

Hi all, I'm a newbie so treat me gently.I have FS 2004 and PMDG's The Next Generation 737 NG 600 / 700I love flying on my flight sim and I set up to fly from Manchester to Alicante. (***Just Reminiscing Hmmmmm***)When I set it up, I can fly there through the navigator taking off myself and following the instructions given by the ATI, but when I get to Alicante, I struggle to land the flamin thing (Boing 737).I read about PMDG in a flightsim mag last month and it mentioned AUTOLAND.I fancied this and so bought the program, but it is a bit daunting???I have tried the introductory flight in the manual that came with the program but it says (for instance)Cockpit preparation -…

I have more or less got to grips with programming PMDG's 737 NG FMC. Where can I get ready made Flight Plans without having to purchase numerous Flight Planning Charts? Is there somewhere that I can down load them, or is there a publication I can purchase? I mainly stick to U/K flights, but occasionally go mad and fly the European holiday routes. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marty

After the latest update I noticed that I have been unable to climb to altitude as fast as I once did. ATC says to climb to FL in 10 minutes after departure but I can't seem to do that anymore. I ran several tests in various wind conditions to make sure but in all of them, around 26,000 ft, the climb rate drops to about 600-800 FPM. I tried playing with the target climb speeds. By default it is set to 315 kts. I set it lower but it still proceeded to climb slowly. Is there something that changed in the patch that would cause this? Is there some other setting besides target climb speed I can set in the FMS to achieve a better climb? Maybe the rate I am climbing is accurate …

Can someone direct me to the info on how to re-install 737ng on a new computer. As I recall the 737ng can only be installed on one computer. Also, can I use the 1.3 full version, or do I need to use my original download and add the upgrades. Thanks,Don Maxwell

Let me get this straight about temps... I think I know very little about all the different temps. So please, please correct me here.OAT - Outside Air Temp (Usually variable with wearher and altitude)TAT - Total air temperature... something I don't remember from chemistry/physics, but is it the average temperature of a body? In realation to a plane, it's the temp of the leading edge or nose? Think I need to read up on this one.SAT - Standard air temp, usually +15C at sea level. How does this relate at altitude?there are others I know I have missed.Does anyone know of a good tutorial or webpage on these different figures? Also, more importantly, how do I get readings fo…

ColdBear reffered me to this site: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/...you type in the dep. and arr. airprts. and then it gives you a flight plan with fixes.....right below the flt. plan computed it says this..."Headings are magnetic, distances are in nautical miles."AND RIGHT UNDER THIS SENTENCE IT SHOWS a few waypoints from the flt. plan (IN BOLD) and right next to each of them there are waypoints that appear to be airways (NOT IN BOLD) (i may be wrong, they might not be airways)....are these the fixes you put in the 'VIA' Column on the RTE page...and then the other waypoint fixes in the ABOVE FLT. PLAN GO IN THE 'TO' Column?????Let me know,Brandon GlassCHEERS!

thanx for your reply randy, check out: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/just so see what im asking type in kjfk for the dep airpt and klax for the arr. airpt. a flt plan will appear in 1 sec.right under the flt. plan computed with all the waypoints it says this..."Headings are magnetic, distances are in nautical miles." AND RIGHT UNDER THIS SENTENCE IT SHOWS a few waypoints from the flt. plan (IN BOLD) and right next to each of them there are waypoints that appear to be airways (NOT IN BOLD) (i know waypoints are not airways but i dont know what to call them!) ...will i put these in the VIA column on the RTE page (the ones that were not in bold print that i was talkin…

Dont mean to be wacko but when looking at an airport chart and it says that for instance runway elevation for RWY 26L is "13" or RWY 25L is "81"that means....13ft and 81ft? I think it is though but checkin anyways. Also, do you input airpt. elevations into the FMC? If so why EXACTLY Cheers!brandon

my fmc says that i have AIRAC CYCLE 0311 wich is out-of-date and the newest cycle is 0407....since i have an old cycle, do i need to load the other cycles after my current cycle (0311) up to the newsest cycle (0407)? ...or can i just update from 0311 to 0497 CYCLE without needing the other ones after 0311 to get 0407? same with sid & star updates...please let me knowTHREE GREENS!brandon Glass

When using TOGA for takeoff....I of course switch this off after takeoff correct? ... And then if I need to abort a landing on an approach I just would switch it back on? But my main question is if I would switch this off right after a takeoff.Rgds,Brandon Glass

After I have made a flight plan, can the FMC tell me the waypoints that have frequencies? (the waypoint fixes that have frequencies are VOR type)Rgds,Brandon Glass (newbie)

I know when doing an autoland you do the following:- Set NAV 1 and NAV 2 Radios to ILS Frequency- Set Course and Heading selectors to the runway's heading your landing on- Set VOR/LOC - Set APP- Set altitude- Set autopilot to COMMAND BMy question is with the altitude you set when setting up for a autoland. Do you set the altitude to the runway altitude (airport charts show altitudes by each runways like "81" for example which of course means 81 ft.)?Let me know,BrandonPS: By the way, if I said anything wrong on the list above on what to set for an autoland, just say so as well :-).

Hey,I know that you put your first VOR Radial (heading) to the COURSE selector before takeoff and you also put the FREQUENCY for the FIRST VOR that I will intercept into the NAV 1 Radio...but don't I put the very LAST VOR (if there is a last one because sometimes in a route there just happens to be only one fix that has a VOR in the entire route) that I will intercept into NAV 2 Radio (the frequency of couse that is)?Cheers,Brandon

Lets say I have set up the FMC for a flight, but I also need to put my initial course, heading, speed, and altitude into the MCP. How do I find out my initial course and heading to put into the MCP after programming the FMC for a flight before takeoff? .. Or what page on the FMC will this tell me after I have already made a route for a flight?Rgds,Brandon Glass

This is not a post to complain about FPS, although it may be if someone tells me I could be doing better.(hehe) I'm getting just about 15 FPS sitting on the ground at KSEA in the PMDG 737-800 with fair weather (No ActiveSky) and only about 7-9 FPS in the VC with the same situation. Here are my specs...Athlon XP 3000+ 333FSB1024 MB RAM (1 stick is 2700 RPM, the other is 3200)Western Digital 40 GB 7200 RPM HDGeForce 4 Ti 4400 128 MB DDR RAM w/ 61.77 driversWindows XP HomeDirectx 9.0b

On the FMC...the E/D ALT (end-of-descent altitude) will be blank if no SID/TRANSITION or APPROACH fixes arem entered. If there are none, how do I know what to put here? ... put the airport altitude (elevation) sincei'll need to be at that altitude anyways for landing?Rgds,Brandon Glass

1. I heard there will be flexing wings on the PMDG 744, but would it also be possible to make the wings flex down while on the ground due to fuel weight? Idea maybe?2. Will the inner main landing gear also steer a little bit during taxi-ing sharp curves like in real life?Cheers,Ian Udingahttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg

Has anyone else seen the little thing that flies behind the 737 IRL? In a lot of programs with the 737 in it, I have seen a little black thing on the end of a wire hanging off the vertical stabalizer and was wonndering what the hell it is.Any ideas?
